The setup for the party is pretty simple. Several coolers filled with ice for drinks (soda, bottled water, juice, assorted alcohol and mixers) with cups nearby, a food table with some cookies and cake from the bakery, two sandwich platters, some salads, fresh fruit, and a veggie platter. There's a grill going for roast vegetables, hamburgers, hot dogs, steaks, and fresh seafood, often run by Ginia but anyone else who wants to watch the grill or grill their own food is welcome to do so. People are also more than welcome to bring their own food and drinks. There's driftwood set up in a small firepit for once the sun goes down.

There are a few folding chairs and blankets spread out for anyone who wants to sit down as well as a card table or two.

Relax, meet new people, enjoy the food, and watch out for ghosts or shifts that might ruin your food.

((ooc: Handwaving the IC announcement of the party. Characters can still drop by even without checking in on the post (though that would be great for stats purposes). Feel free to say your character was there for set up and later take down, it's mostly handwaved unless people want to play things out.))

Story time then.]

Well played mon ami. [Remy commented as he placed his hand down on the table.] Let's see.

Ya got Mardi Gras where ya from? [Or even a New Orleans.] Every year my brother, cousins, 'nd few of the boys have a bit of a bet. Call it a tradition or just actin' like plain idiots. Either way, 'nvolves streakin'.

One year, we got my cousin Lapin so drunk that were able to tape him to a street light, without gettin' arrested. Was the cold light of dawn 'fore he sobered up 'nough to figure out what we did to him.

[He smiles and rests his elbows on the table to settle in for the story.]

Yeah, I've heard of it.

[He's never been to a celebration, though. And hearing this story, he's feeling kind of glad for that.

At first he just blinks at the mention of streaking. Remy can't be serious, can he..? His eyes look like they're about to pop out of his head as the other guy continues.]

...You're kiddin' me, right?! Never mind him, what about the people who had to see him?

[Think of the children!]

That I will cherie, that I will. 'nd even if it don't come to that, give me a yell. I got a few recipes I can pass on from family affairs. Give a taste of the Big Easy.

That I ain't. [Remy added with a laugh.] 'nd they didn't see much.

The boy got over it, a little paranoid for 'while, but didn't stop him still gettin' drunk in town 'gain the followin' week.

'long as there's no probin' or the like.

'nd wouldn't mind a chance for a few extra comforts of home that only more substantial forms of energy can provide. [Ok, maybe the idea of a motorbike was a bit over the top, but damn if Remy missed his back home.

And it would make getting across the size of the dome easier. Being able to fuel it was another story, but not a bridge to even think about crossing until later.]

'nd storin' be the problem. Most items either go boom, or burn to ashes.

[Firo shakes his head, now almost laughing.]

People never learn, eh? He sounds like some friends I got back home.

[Hidden in plain sight. Though more likely, perhaps the giant king wanted to show off his new weapon and his bride-to-be.]

/I imagine the drinking and feasting would have been a grand sight. But a matter of waiting for the right time to grab the hammer?/

/A good and proper time. Right in the middle of the exchange of vows, such as they were. He made his, I took Mjolnir in hand and we fought our way out, my Brother and I./

[Ginia huffs lightly. The 'joys' of killing at a distance.]

No no, none of that. I'm just a scientist, not a doctor. I have no interest in doing any kind of probing.

I don't think anybody would object to a few more comforts. But not things going boom. I'll have to think about this for a while before we get to the experimentation phase.

/If only the Crows had an excuse so encompassing as 'war' to use. For us? It was politics. And money./

[Sad really. So much good technology, so many wonderful things, and everyone still found an excuse to murder each other. Not that she was any better, getting rich off her crimes and trying to claim the moral high ground.]

Though from what I heard, surprised ya haven't tried hookin' ya beau up as a wind turbine 'nd gettin' power that way.

I'll hold you to that. At the very least, to try some new food. Place isn't bad, but the variety of food is lacking.

/I suppose from the proper angle it could have been a class war, of sorts. Different families stepping in with an attempt to rule the city./

[Objections to the wedding made indeed. Ginia grins as she imagines the two fighting their way out of the wedding feast.]

[A little while later, this hand finished, Firo sits back in his chair. Though defeated, he still grins; playing with someone good is pretty fun.]

Ah, you got me. Well, since we're talkin' about friends... I can tell you about the time a friend a' mine fought a bear.
