The setup for the party is pretty simple. Several coolers filled with ice for drinks (soda, bottled water, juice, assorted alcohol and mixers) with cups nearby, a food table with some cookies and cake from the bakery, two sandwich platters, some salads, fresh fruit, and a veggie platter. There's a grill going for roast vegetables, hamburgers, hot dogs, steaks, and fresh seafood, often run by Ginia but anyone else who wants to watch the grill or grill their own food is welcome to do so. People are also more than welcome to bring their own food and drinks. There's driftwood set up in a small firepit for once the sun goes down.

There are a few folding chairs and blankets spread out for anyone who wants to sit down as well as a card table or two.

Relax, meet new people, enjoy the food, and watch out for ghosts or shifts that might ruin your food.

((ooc: Handwaving the IC announcement of the party. Characters can still drop by even without checking in on the post (though that would be great for stats purposes). Feel free to say your character was there for set up and later take down, it's mostly handwaved unless people want to play things out.))

All right. I'll try it.

[he's also pleasantly surprised - though he won't say it - that he can still remember much of Ginia's sign language.]

[Ginia reaches into a cooler and pulls out a steak wrapped in plastic wrap. She unwraps it and sets it on the grill, the meat hissing from the heat as she closes the lid.]

/Been a week since the last shift. Settling back in all right?/

[Steak is meat, apparently. Even with its supposed abundance here, Levi still feels odd consuming it on a regular basis.]

...yeah, more or less.

[A lot happened during that shift, a lot that Ginia knows better than to comment on. What happened between Erwin and Levi was their business to sort out. But it's also tough too switching from a nearly sibling-like relationship to wherever they stood now.]

/I know you two didn't want to be back, but it is good to see you./

[Words that have already been said, but still bear repeating. A touch too sentimental, but it took a lot of people leaving without a chance to say goodbye to realize how much she really missed them.]

/What do you think about the ocean?/

[Levi glances toward it, the waves crashing up onto the beach, and gives it another long, vaguely uneasy look.]

It's not bad. [pause] It's a little overwhelming, trying to imagine something that huge even when it's right in front of you.

[The waves rolling onto the shore provide an ever-present backdrop of sound on the beach. Ginia turns to look at the water herself. Even having grown up used to the ocean, it's still an awe-inspiring sight.]

/I still find it overwhelming at times. A place where secrets still live./

[Levi folds his arms across his chest, watching the grill and the movements of her hands.]

What kind of secrets?

/In my world? Sunken ships and their cargo, animals still undiscovered or animals we barely know anything about. Here?/

[Ginia regards the water again.]

/It used to be a desert, so who knows what's buried in the sand. The T-E-M-P-L-E is above water at least./

[He follows her gaze, and holds it for longer this time. Secrets, huh? What kinds of secrets would they have access to should they discover an ocean in their own world?

They existed, supposedly. According to some of the few surviving forbidden books, all kinds of different landscapes had once been known to human kind. Now, though, it's difficult to imagine even much beyond the wall, since it could literally be years since they're able to outside of Wall Maria.]

...has anyone been to the temple?

[She nods at his question, pausing to check the grill and flip the steak over, the smell of cooking meat wafting up.]

/Lots of people, myself included. I have pictures and rough maps of the rooms, but you and E-R-W-I-N should find someone to take you up there. Didn't find much in there though the place was once used./

Sounds interesting.

[even though his tone makes it seem as though it could be the least interesting thing possible, he's sure that Erwin would be interested to see the place. Levi would be too, truthfully, but enthusiasm isn't his strong suit.]

How would we get there?

/You'll have to find someone who can T-E-L-E-P-O-R-T or fly./

[Ginia considers the options.]

/L-A-W might be agreeable, perhaps S-A-O-R-I. If you asked on the journals, I'm sure you'd get a few answers and probably others who want to go. I'll even go again./

[he makes a very obvious FACE at the mention of teleporting.]

Why not just use a boat?

[but he considers the next suggestion, takes out a small notebook - different from the journal - he'd been using to keep notes in, and writes down the information.]

I'll see what Erwin wants to do.

/You can take a boat out there, but the T-E-M-P-L-E/ [Ginia pauses to show the sign, repeating it twice before moving on.] /is floating high above the water. And no, I don't know how it's staying up there. Magic?/

I see.

[well that definitely made things more difficult.]

[Hence the suggestion of someone who could teleport or fly. But that's something to figure out later. For now, Ginia opens up the grill and moves the steak onto a plate.]

/Let it sit for a few minutes before eating. There's steak sauce and salt and pepper if you want to season it a bit more./

[Levi's not too keen on teleportation, having been pretty creeped out the first time he encountered it.

He accepts the plate, plenty happy to let the steak sit for a bit and cool off.]
