Who: OPEN to adults
What: A networking party on the beach
When: Saturday, 9/20
Where: The beach, around sunset
Summary: An open networking party on the beach. Enjoy the food and drinks, mingle as you wish. Details here
Rating: Let's keep it under PG-13

The setup for the party is pretty simple. Several coolers filled with ice for drinks (soda, bottled water, juice, assorted alcohol and mixers) with cups nearby, a food table with some cookies and cake from the bakery, two sandwich platters, some salads, fresh fruit, and a veggie platter. There's a grill going for roast vegetables, hamburgers, hot dogs, steaks, and fresh seafood, often run by Ginia but anyone else who wants to watch the grill or grill their own food is welcome to do so. People are also more than welcome to bring their own food and drinks. There's driftwood set up in a small firepit for once the sun goes down.

There are a few folding chairs and blankets spread out for anyone who wants to sit down as well as a card table or two.

Relax, meet new people, enjoy the food, and watch out for ghosts or shifts that might ruin your food.

((ooc: Handwaving the IC announcement of the party. Characters can still drop by even without checking in on the post (though that would be great for stats purposes). Feel free to say your character was there for set up and later take down, it's mostly handwaved unless people want to play things out.))

The elves as described are the usual human perception of elves in their works of fiction. Apparently there was a man- tolkien? Who wrote them as such. In my world it is less so. We are seen as lesser simply because we are not human. We are used and treated as servants in the cities. But at least we are not slaves as we would be in Tervinter. There they are not allowed to learn to read.
reviling: (this isn't going well for you)

Someone else's fiction, maybe.

[his expression darkens slightly. Slavery didn't exist outright inside the walls, but having grown up in the slums of his world he's seen things that are close enough to it.]

How is it that humans in your world are able to control immortal elves?
antivanleather: (Now that is a good look for you)

Something about them made us less immortal. There are tales of humans from the north doing- something that made us live faster, die quicker. Now we expire just as much as they do, if not sooner for how we are treated. I myself never expected to live to see twenty, let alone twenty eight.
reviling: (Humanity's strongest)

[Levi frowns, eyes narrowing slightly.]

You went from living forever to not expecting to live more than twenty years?

How long do humans usually live?
antivanleather: (You cannot be serious)

[personal profile] antivanleather 2014-10-13 02:28 am (UTC)(link)
Thirty some odd years if they are fortunate. Mages occasionally live longer simply by being so sequestered from the rest of society. When you live in the city things are a great more dangerous.
reviling: (pretending not to be interested)

[Life expectancy wasn't exactly lengthy where Levi came from - and if you were in the corps, even shorter - but even thirty sounded short to him.]

Why so low?

Disease. Danger. A healthy guild of assassins certainly doesn't help. That we are in the midst of a blight probably contributes a great deal.

Mm. Sounds familiar. Sorry to hear that.

That it sounds familiar is more than a little disconcerting. You do not come from one of the kinder worlds, do you?
