Who: OPEN to adults
What: A networking party on the beach
When: Saturday, 9/20
Where: The beach, around sunset
Summary: An open networking party on the beach. Enjoy the food and drinks, mingle as you wish. Details here
Rating: Let's keep it under PG-13
The setup for the party is pretty simple. Several coolers filled with ice for drinks (soda, bottled water, juice, assorted alcohol and mixers) with cups nearby, a food table with some cookies and cake from the bakery, two sandwich platters, some salads, fresh fruit, and a veggie platter. There's a grill going for roast vegetables, hamburgers, hot dogs, steaks, and fresh seafood, often run by Ginia but anyone else who wants to watch the grill or grill their own food is welcome to do so. People are also more than welcome to bring their own food and drinks. There's driftwood set up in a small firepit for once the sun goes down.
There are a few folding chairs and blankets spread out for anyone who wants to sit down as well as a card table or two.
Relax, meet new people, enjoy the food, and watch out for ghosts or shifts that might ruin your food.
((ooc: Handwaving the IC announcement of the party. Characters can still drop by even without checking in on the post (though that would be great for stats purposes). Feel free to say your character was there for set up and later take down, it's mostly handwaved unless people want to play things out.))

The boy got over it, a little paranoid for 'while, but didn't stop him still gettin' drunk in town 'gain the followin' week.
no subject
People never learn, eh? He sounds like some friends I got back home.

[A little while later, this hand finished, Firo sits back in his chair. Though defeated, he still grins; playing with someone good is pretty fun.]
Ah, you got me. Well, since we're talkin' about friends... I can tell you about the time a friend a' mine fought a bear.
["Fight" is a bit of a dramatization. Firo likes setting up his audience for something different than what they'll get.]
no subject
We talkin' grizzly, black, panda, or teddy?
no subject
I couldn't tell ya, but definitely not "teddy". Accordin' to him, everybody in the circus was scared a' this thing--I'm not sure what they expected when they started messin' with a bear--but it was great for the shows. But not so great that the leader a' the circus didn't start thinkin' about makin' bear stew after a while.
So Claire and him made a bet: if Claire could control the thing, they'd keep it. Claire walks right up to the huge thing--and it just goes ahead and bites his arm as hard as it can.
no subject
He offered a wince at the injury described.] Less one arm I take it now. [Stupid boy.]
no subject
Firo lets that thought percolate, then grins.]
Nah, he's still got both. 'Cause before the bear could really bite down on him, it let go. Actually, it looked like the bear'd been hurt.
[He'd let that little detail sit for a bit too, but he's to eager to get to the punchline.]
Claire isn't exactly a guy who always plays fair. So right before he went in the cage, he'd covered his arm in hot sauce--the spiciest stuff he could find.
no subject
However the mention of the hot sauce made him throw his head back and laugh. What a stupid risk! Worked, and was damn funny, but to risk a limb with that kind of idea? That took some gutts to pull off.] Ah merde, that boy of ya's don't sound like the brightest bulb, but do like his style.
no subject
[And talking to girls, though Firo can't really throw stones there.]
no subject
Or someone be recordin' it as for evidence later.
no subject
[Firo waits until the first cards are dealt to peek at his hole cards.]
Recordin'..?
[They're probably from radically different times.]
no subject
no subject
[He's used to being a few decades or so behind the other earthlings here.]
no subject
[Assuming their earths were alike enough... the year would be right.] So ya got cinema, movies, right? From my time people can do their own movies, kinda like with the journals. Family events, holidays, friends gettin' themselves hurt, that kinda thing. That what I mean by recordin' it.
no subject
[He's never seen recording equipment, but he imagines it must be huge.]
no subject
Find some of the more high tech stuff bein' hidden in glasses for video, or items the size of bugs, 'nd called bug, for sound.
no subject
[Those bugs are going to be a lot of trouble in the future, though.
He shakes his head.]
I can't believe some a' the things you people've got in the future.
no subject
Maybe if the item store be kind to me.
no subject
[And whoever invented something like that, Firo's pretty sure they wouldn't give them away for cheap.]
no subject
[Well, was there any point in lying here? Not like there weren't others already in Luceti who knew his line of work. Why hide it? After all, he used his skills in the missions given to him.] Or should I say 'm a thief. Big jobs, museums, military bases, mansions, that kinda thing.
no subject
Seriously?
[He tilts his head to one side, thinking.]
So you use those things when you're casin' the place and stuff?
no subject
Though, wouldn't be a challenge otherwise, then what would be the point, hein?
no subject
I don't know--I don't see anything wrong with an easy mark.
no subject
'nd how did ya get 'nother story out of me without winnin' a hand, hein? [The last part said in jest, with no real malice behind it.]
