You shouldn't be out wandering around.

[What else is he supposed to do? Awkwardly avoid you? Let's just go with irritating.]

[hotboss]

[Well, they did plenty of that in headquarters already, didn't they?] You're not ready to be exploring here on your own.

[strengthalone]

I'm perfectly ready. Are you trying to goad me into running off and leaving you alone?

[hotboss]

I'm telling you not to do anything reckless for once.

[strengthalone]

Because tailing you through a jungle is reckless.

[Grr grr.]

[hotboss]

It is. I'm glad we agree.

[strengthalone]

I'm not going.

[hotboss]

[Tch. He sure didn't miss this.] Go.

[strengthalone]

Do you hate it that much?

[hotboss]

[...] What are you on about?

[strengthalone]

[He just scowls, glaring at Giovanni for a moment before he speaks again.]

I'm going to follow you.

[hotboss]

[So that's how it going to go. A few years haven't made him any less stubborn.

Giovanni won't bother wasting time arguing that. He picks out a pokeball and throws it out to release Kangaskhan, who does not look excited one bit to be dragged in the middle of this. Ooohh dear.] You always have to do it the hard way.

[strengthalone]

[You want him gone that badly? Silver just grits his teeth, seethingly angry. He'll lose, but he won't just roll over and give up.]

Golbat. Confuse Ray.

[hotboss]

[Having free reign and full power out here feels like a hundred weights being lifted off his shoulders. Even then, it's hard to enjoy it in this kind of situation. Knocking the boy's own team out won't help anything.

Instead, the earth sinks suddenly in a contained hole, Giovanni and Kangaskhan dropping with it. It only takes a few seconds for them to appear again, this time rising up from a rumbling hole behind Silver and his Golbat.

Nothing wrong with showing what three years' worth of training has done, if that's what it'll take to get the message across.]

Don't waste my time.

[strengthalone]

[Silver's been training, too. He's had some meager experience, and while he's lacking raw power, he's able to recognize the smart move. He's climbed up on some of the tree roots, and Golbat is flying well above the reach of Kangaskhan.]

Waste time for what?

[hotboss]

[Giovanni ignores the question and waves a hand at Kangaskhan. Golbat's wise to stay out of direct range, though he shouldn't feel safe up there forever.]

Take him to the coast.

[strengthalone]

[Are you serious right now?? Silver sneers.]

Air Cutter!

[He won't accept that, he'll attack even if it's pointless.]

[hotboss]

[Kangaskhan leaps forward with her arms over her face, letting the Air Cutter break over her and pass away from Giovanni. She's fast to react, naturally, but even then, she spares a hesitant glance behind towards Giovanni, giving out a strained grunt. Whatever she's saying only makes Giovanni's expression sour further.]

Enough. Do I need to take your Pokemon, too?

[strengthalone]

I don't understand you! First you're telling me it's not safe, now you're threatening me? What are you even doing?

[hotboss]

Keeping you out of the way. [Not necessarily out of his way, that is, unless Silver plans on being a particular nuisance, but out of the way of everything else here. A few natural earthquakes and shifts to different areas are really the most minimal problems they could run into here.]

[strengthalone]

I'm not going to stay behind and wait like a good little kid anymore.

[hotboss]

So be it.

[Without looking next to him, he snaps his fingers at Kangaskhan.] Dig him to the coast.

[strengthalone]

I walked all the way out here and I'm not stopping here!

[He won't have much of a choice if Kangaskhan digs him out of there, anyway.]

[hotboss]

[Silver might get a little say in it after all. Rather than grinding her foot in the soil and triggering cracks beneath Silver's feet, Kangaskhan twists her hands hesitantly. The baby in her pouch pokes its head out briefly, then ducks back in at the sound of Silver's protest.

Giovanni finally does look at her, lines around his mouth deepening. He's already faced enough insolence this week; now is not the time.]
