Where: Around town, into the mountains, into the forest, wherever they want to run
Summary: Yuffie's bored so to keep her from getting herself in trouble (or dead) trying to find something to do, Duo's offered to race her around. The point of the game is to catch Duo.
Rating: Usual PG13-R rating for Duo's mouth

The sun was bright overhead, making the day warm already. Duo flicked his braid back and forth as he waited for Yuffie to show up. He was excited for the upcoming race. Life in Luceti was almost boring without experiments and it was starting to get to the pilot. He'd stretched and warmed up that morning, getting ready to race his friend around. This was going to be fun.

That earned her another weird look. "Lots of stuff. Food colorin' for when Kam comes back to make sauce for me again, explosives, flash bombs, candy, B&E tools, some candy, feather from Has, and whatever else I feel like carryin'."

(ooc: I don't see why anyone would stop you.)

Well that made her shut up...Usually if she needed something, she would rush somewhere to go get it. The only things she usually carried was her shuriken, and materia! She couldn't stand loose clothes, and she really figured that out when she had to borrow clothes from her guy friends when she actually turned into a guy! Those clothes got stuck on everything!!

"So where's this stream supposed ta be?" The tingling got bad enough again he had to pull his hands away and shake them for a couple steps. "I'm startin' ta go numb and I haven't felt this thing weaken at all."

(ooc: And that double candy thing is what happens when I'm interrupted while tagging.)

"Heck if I know. Sephiroth was the one that told me about it. I wasn't gonna ask him directions!!" By now...she was seriously thinking of trying to run up the thing! But...she's not to sure about how that'd work.."Maybe...if this thing is run by generators, then there is more than just one?

[ooc: I was gonna have Yuffie say something about that...good thing I thought not too XD (I just revised mine...I got interrupted too XD]

Duo laughs at her and sticks his tongue out. "So we're wandering around with no idea where we're goin' 'cause you don't like the guy enough ta ask what he's talkin' about?" The sun glinted on his hair as he shook his head.

He thought about that for a moment. "Could be. It's big enough ta need a more not ta mention it's selective. That's gotta take more power and programmin'. What kinda generator makes this though? I don't know shit 'bout magic. If it is a generator like what I'm used ta, I know I could bring this thing down if I got my hands on it. Take the thing apart and make the Malnosso bastards eat it."

(ooc: Thank you for not saying anything. I could have tried to save it by having Duo pull out several kinds of candy, but I'd really rather ignore it.)

"Pretty much! But it's not like it should be that hard to find, right? We just gotta follow the barrier!" She frowns. She never did like asking for directions anyway...

"It...could be run by magic though... That would explain why it doesn't have any weak points." This really did remind her of Sephiroths' barrier! And it was annoying already!

"Not hard ta find when we get near it, but don't know how big this barrier is. We could be walkin' for a while. Sounda brought snacks." Of course Duo was thinking with his stomach again. He was getting spoiled by this constant supply of good food.

Duo pressed his hand against the wall again, trying to think about that. "If it's magic, doesn't that mean that someone has to keep it up? What happens if they get tired or somethin'? Does it get weaker? Could we distract the Malnosso enough that whoever's makin' this thing lets it falter a little?"

She laughed. "If we start fainting from hunger, we can go back!" She was already used to not eating much. She was usually really busy, so she didn't always have time to eat!

"That would depend on what kind of magic. Usually once it's set up, only the one that put it up can get it down...unless something really, really strong hits it! And it's not like we can make a huge laser here, right?"

"But what if I'm hungry and not fainting? What am I gunna do then? I'm a growing boy. We need food." Duo softened his whining by grinning at her. It wasn't like he'd had to go entire missions without eating, but it was something to tease Yuffie about.

"They don't need a constant energy supply or attention? Damn. If we got a laser, no one told me and I doubt we got the parts ta make one." He sighed and switched hands again. "Wish I had 'Scythe. Bet a thurmal beam'd go through it."

Yuffie smiled. Usually she was the one doing the whining! "Then find something in the forest! Just don't eat any random mushrooms!!"

"I'm...not really to sure! Ugh, this would be so much easier if we actually knew what was keeping this thing up!"

He blinked at her for a while. "You eat stuff outta here? Are you serious? That's so weird... fresh food's one thing, but eatin' stuff outta a forest? That's way too weird."

He shurged at her. "Beats me. I'd rather think it's an actual generator 'cause there's a chance they'll have ta shut it down for maintenance at some point."

(ooc: Up to if and when they run into that stream... I think this is an example of the muses taking on a mind of their own. Weren't they supposed to be racing?)

She looked at him, slightly confused by that statement. "What? You sayin' you just starve if you're out in a forest for like a week? There's a lot of food out here!" She only knows this from experience.

She sighed. "But knowing the Malnosso, they might end up having back-up generators."

[ooc: That's fine by me! XD It'll give Yuffie a chance to go for a swim! XD]

Duo stared back at her. "No, I'd pack rations -nasty as they are- and eat those. Otherwise I'd have to slip into a town and nick somethin'. You can really survive out here for a week without rations? People on Earth are even more strange than I thought."

"And they're probably smart enough ta have the spare timed ta switch on and be runnin' before the other fails. Could still hope that the thing blows up or somethin' unexpected." Duo was losing hope that the barrier would fail. He wondered if there was a way to create enough interfereance to disrupt it enough to let someone through.

(ooc: *sigh* I need to pay more attention. That was supposed to say it's up to you.)

"What if...you just couldn't bring any food?! Or something happened? Of course I can! If I couldn't then I would've been dead by now! Geez, have you ever even gone REAL camping before?!"

"I'd guess that's the most we can hope for!"

"Then I'd have ta go hungry. I'm not from Earth, Yuffie. We don't have forests up in the colonies. Trainin' didn't include searchin' trees and stuff for dinner. Pretty useful that ya can, but it not somethin' I ever had a chance or the need ta learn. We always had rations anyway."

Duo shook and switched hands again. It was awkward walking that way, but he wanted to keep feeling the barrier on the off chance that he did fine a weakness. "Better yet, let's hope they blow up. Be nice ta see it. Tried once with Daisya, but that failed... kinda forget what happened though. Daisya and I got caught in it I think. Don't know why." He looked confused as he puzzled his blasted memories, foggy from the slight head trauma he suffered.

"You might wanna learn sooner or later though! It's helpful no matter what!" Yuffie was..slightly happy that she knew something that Duo didn't!

"Everybody want the Malnosso to blow up! They deserve it! This place would be a heck of a lot better if they weren't here!" Just thinking of the Malsosso annoyed her! They've screwed with so much...she couldn't even feel her left arm...what wasn't annoying about that?!

He thought that over. It might not have been necessary when he was back on Earth, there were few areas he couldn't find trasport into a town. "Yeah, might wanna look in ta learnin' that. Could be useful, but there aren't a lotta places where I can't get to a town in fewer than a couple days."

Duo chuckled darkly at that. "Yeah, fair enough. It'd be a pretty sweet vacation for me without them fuckin' things up. It's clean and peaceful here. Little borin' though."

"I could help with that..but I don't think I'd be a great teacher for that..." She did know how to at least survive for a few weeks, but she didn't think she could teach that to another person...She could probably teach somebody to steal something better!!

"Yeah, it is boring. I'm used to running into monsters everywhere I go! Now the only thing I worry about is being kidnapped...that was so past annoying!

Duo smiled at her. "I'll find someone ta help me if I get bored and wanna learn it. Someone 'round here's gotta know how ta eat... trees and'll teach me." He probably would stick to his fall back and steal food from rebels back in his world or from people or the stores here.

Concern filled Duo for a moment. He just knew that bored Yuffie was as dangerous as bored Duo and he didn't like her getting kidnapped anymore than she did. "You want me ta hide in the bushes and jump out at ya? Not as good as a real monster I'm sure, but it's somethin'. Yeah, keep avoidin' that. Rather ya not get kidnapped again."

Yuffie smirked. "Not eating trees...ya'know, like...berries and stuff!" If she stuck around here for to long...she might forget herself...

She smiled at that. Hey, Duo was actually the first person to try and keep her from getting bored! "Nah, it's fine. When everything settles down..I'll see if I can take Cloud or Tifa up on a fight..or maybe Vincent.." Frowned now. "I would say that I'd like to..but the last time I just couldn't get away...So I know I'm just gonna try to run if that ever happens again.."

Duo laughed back at her. "Alright, that sounds a little better. Berries make sense. Stayin' here's gunna spoil me ta this fresh food."

It was fun to find someone so much like himself. "Make sure ya come out on top, but don't hurt 'em too bad." Duo winked at her. "Don't want the boys feelin' too bad they got beat by a girl." The concern came back to Duo's face. "Yeah, run and hide. Usually a good idea. I hate worryin' about ya when ya get kidnapped."

She smiled. "But what the fun in that?! Cloud and Vincent totally need to see that I'm strong!" She kicks the barrier. "They didn't do anything that bad the last time I got kidnapped though. At least they didn't do anything totally freaky!"

"Oh, ya can still beat 'em. Just don't make it too bad. They'll probably still have guys like me laughin' at 'em for underestimatin' how much you kickass." Duo grinned at her, thinking about her beating some faceless guys into the dirt. It was quite funny. He hadn't fought her, but seeing her chase after him had given him serious respect for the girl.

Duo waited for a moment before carefully poking the subject. "You wanna talk 'bout what they did? That's one of the few things I won't pester about, but I'll listen if ya want someone else pissed at the Malnosso for specifics."

She smiled at that. "People really do need so stop underestimating me! Just because I look small, doesn't mean anything!" She was oddly serious about that. Even Cloud acted like she couldn't take him down! She so could if she wanted to!!

Yuffie leaned against the nearest tree. "..I really haven't thought about that for awhile! And I still don't remember everything perfectly!" She thought for a few moments. She actually hasn't told anyone about it yet. Really, nobody ever brought up the subject, and that was completely fine by her! But what the heck? She'll say a few things, but not in full detail!! "...I guess they kinda screwed with my imagination? They kept on showing me something over and over...and I somehow manged to make myself mentally blind!! I still don't know how I did that..."

Duo chuckled and switched hands again. He kicked a stick out of his way before deciding to pick it up and take a swing at the barrier. The stick broke and part of it went flying. "Heh, yeah, ya can use that to your advantage though. They never expect the short kid ta kick their ass. I think they'll get the idea if ya beat one of 'em into the ground for a bit. Might have ta be both if they're gunna be really slow 'bout it."

Duo moved the lean against the tree next to her, making it easier for her to talk without having to look at him. "Didn't know they could do stuff like that. That's pretty cool to learn though. Can you do it now or just when they're... messin' with ya?"
