Where: Around town, into the mountains, into the forest, wherever they want to run
Summary: Yuffie's bored so to keep her from getting herself in trouble (or dead) trying to find something to do, Duo's offered to race her around. The point of the game is to catch Duo.
Rating: Usual PG13-R rating for Duo's mouth

The sun was bright overhead, making the day warm already. Duo flicked his braid back and forth as he waited for Yuffie to show up. He was excited for the upcoming race. Life in Luceti was almost boring without experiments and it was starting to get to the pilot. He'd stretched and warmed up that morning, getting ready to race his friend around. This was going to be fun.

"I could help with that..but I don't think I'd be a great teacher for that..." She did know how to at least survive for a few weeks, but she didn't think she could teach that to another person...She could probably teach somebody to steal something better!!

"Yeah, it is boring. I'm used to running into monsters everywhere I go! Now the only thing I worry about is being kidnapped...that was so past annoying!

Duo smiled at her. "I'll find someone ta help me if I get bored and wanna learn it. Someone 'round here's gotta know how ta eat... trees and'll teach me." He probably would stick to his fall back and steal food from rebels back in his world or from people or the stores here.

Concern filled Duo for a moment. He just knew that bored Yuffie was as dangerous as bored Duo and he didn't like her getting kidnapped anymore than she did. "You want me ta hide in the bushes and jump out at ya? Not as good as a real monster I'm sure, but it's somethin'. Yeah, keep avoidin' that. Rather ya not get kidnapped again."

Yuffie smirked. "Not eating trees...ya'know, like...berries and stuff!" If she stuck around here for to long...she might forget herself...

She smiled at that. Hey, Duo was actually the first person to try and keep her from getting bored! "Nah, it's fine. When everything settles down..I'll see if I can take Cloud or Tifa up on a fight..or maybe Vincent.." Frowned now. "I would say that I'd like to..but the last time I just couldn't get away...So I know I'm just gonna try to run if that ever happens again.."

Duo laughed back at her. "Alright, that sounds a little better. Berries make sense. Stayin' here's gunna spoil me ta this fresh food."

It was fun to find someone so much like himself. "Make sure ya come out on top, but don't hurt 'em too bad." Duo winked at her. "Don't want the boys feelin' too bad they got beat by a girl." The concern came back to Duo's face. "Yeah, run and hide. Usually a good idea. I hate worryin' about ya when ya get kidnapped."

She smiled. "But what the fun in that?! Cloud and Vincent totally need to see that I'm strong!" She kicks the barrier. "They didn't do anything that bad the last time I got kidnapped though. At least they didn't do anything totally freaky!"

"Oh, ya can still beat 'em. Just don't make it too bad. They'll probably still have guys like me laughin' at 'em for underestimatin' how much you kickass." Duo grinned at her, thinking about her beating some faceless guys into the dirt. It was quite funny. He hadn't fought her, but seeing her chase after him had given him serious respect for the girl.

Duo waited for a moment before carefully poking the subject. "You wanna talk 'bout what they did? That's one of the few things I won't pester about, but I'll listen if ya want someone else pissed at the Malnosso for specifics."

She smiled at that. "People really do need so stop underestimating me! Just because I look small, doesn't mean anything!" She was oddly serious about that. Even Cloud acted like she couldn't take him down! She so could if she wanted to!!

Yuffie leaned against the nearest tree. "..I really haven't thought about that for awhile! And I still don't remember everything perfectly!" She thought for a few moments. She actually hasn't told anyone about it yet. Really, nobody ever brought up the subject, and that was completely fine by her! But what the heck? She'll say a few things, but not in full detail!! "...I guess they kinda screwed with my imagination? They kept on showing me something over and over...and I somehow manged to make myself mentally blind!! I still don't know how I did that..."

Duo chuckled and switched hands again. He kicked a stick out of his way before deciding to pick it up and take a swing at the barrier. The stick broke and part of it went flying. "Heh, yeah, ya can use that to your advantage though. They never expect the short kid ta kick their ass. I think they'll get the idea if ya beat one of 'em into the ground for a bit. Might have ta be both if they're gunna be really slow 'bout it."

Duo moved the lean against the tree next to her, making it easier for her to talk without having to look at him. "Didn't know they could do stuff like that. That's pretty cool to learn though. Can you do it now or just when they're... messin' with ya?"

"But it's a whole bunch more fun if they know you can beat them, and you still do! But proving it can be fun too sometimes."

Yuffie kicks the tree she's leaning on absentmindedly as she thinks a bit. "Apparently they can do a whole bunch of crap! And it's not that cool if you forget how you did it, and it takes over a week for your eyesight to come back." She stays quiet as she tries to think for a few moments. "I was pretty much freaking out at the time...I don't think I'd be able to do it just outta nowhere."

"Well then maybe you should just kick them around and have some fun."

The light danced on his face through the leaves of the tree as he stared up at them. "Yeah, bastards seem ta be able ta do a lot of things to us. Ya got yourself through it. That's what matters. Probably better if you can see where you're goin'. I'd laugh myself silly if I saw ya run into a tree."

"...Can't have much fun here...Especially with everything that goes on..." She's frowning at that.

"Of course I got through it! Not much can keep me down for long!!" She frowned at that thought. "I wouldn't run into anything...I didn't either...I just tripped over everything in my house.."

Duo nodded. "They suck the fun outta everythin'. Can still kick the boys around a bit. Or chase us." He turned to wink at her.

Duo chuckled, enjoying the conversation with Yuffie if not the topic. "You're a tough girl, Yuffie. You trippin' over stuff's not near as funny as chasin' me into a tree."

"Yeah, but most guys here aren't that fast!" She didn't really catch that wink, and even if she did, she probably wouldn't have caught the joke.

She was enjoying this too! She usually didn't have conversations like this. So she laughed. "Though I bet it was funny for whoever saw me! Even Cloud said I looked horrible!"

Duo preened under that praise. "Yeah well, I gotta lotta experience runnin'. Granted it's usually from guys tryin' ta kill me rather than pretty girls. Not nearly that much of a challenge either. Runnin' from ya's fun."

He grins and laughs a little. "Least he wasn't pushin' stuff in front of ya or movin' it around, was he? I'd be suspicious." He laughed again.

She sighed. "I probably wouldn't be as fast if the only thing I could do when I was younger was train! I curse my old man for that!!" And now she smiled. "Running is always fun! Especially races!!"

She laughed at that too. "I sure hope not! That would've been mean even for him!!"

"Hey, it's paid off. Ya can keep up with me. That's impressive. Sounds like it woulda gotten old though. Don't think I could train all the time and do nothin' else."

Duo shifted against the tree, rubbing some bark off. "Yeah, but it woulda been even funnier."

"It got old after just a few hours!! And, I couldn't either! It was much more fun to not go to class!"

She's not sure if she should laugh at that or not. "...not for me..."

Duo couldn't help laughing, thinking about Yuffie skipping classes and running amok. "Not able ta sit still very long in class? Woulda thought it'd be a little more entertainin' than a real class. What'd ya do when ya weren't going ta class."

The conversation felt less comfortable to Duo so he tried to sooth it over. "If ya found out, ya woulda beat his ass, blind or not. That woulda been funny as hell."

She smiled at that. "No matter what I had to learn, it was all seriously boring! I'd mess with the soldiers! They were more interesting!!"

She laughed at that. "If he didn't turn a random corner, of course I would've!"

[ooc: This is mun, wishing they told more about Yuffie's childhood....]

Now that was something Duo could understand and laugh along with. "Oh yeah, they're great ta mess with. You can mess up their drills, steal their stuff, move their stuff, and totally mess up their systems. Gotta love watchin' 'em chase ghosts around their base."

"Oh, I'm sure you'd find 'im one way or another. Gotta sleep sometime and someone probably woulda known where he was."

(ooc: Make it up? That's what I'm doing for a lot of Duo's stuff. It'll be a problem if anyone else wants to play Duo or if someone wants to be Howard or Solo. Otherwise, I don't think anyone can complain if you're sensible about it.

"Well there's all that, and they also showed me the real stuff! Soo much better than just learning about it!!"

"That's true too!!"

Duo chuckled at the idea of soldiers teaching Yuffie to fight. That explained a little. "Hands on better than theory. Yeah, that's 'bout right. Probably learn better that way than readin' bout it or somethin'."

Duo shook his bangs out of his eyes. "Yeah, no way you woulda let him get away with that."

"You got that right! Who wants to learn stuff from books when you could go out there and fight monsters?!"

Yuffie smirked. "And if I accidentally did, payback would come by soon!"

Duo shifted against the tree, getting restless. "Well, ya gotta learn somethin' before ya go out there and try ta kill 'em right? Otherwise you'd be monster food. Don't think ya can learn to fight 'em by sittin' around though."

That made Duo laugh and feel just a little sorry for the guy if he hadn't been messing with Yuffie. "You'll have to question and interogate him. Make sure he's guilty and then kick him around. Save me a seat though. It'll be fun ta watch."

She's getting a tad restless as well. She's kicking the tree she's leaning on with her heel every few moments. "Not what my teacher said!...old teachers are no fun.."

"What's the fun of just doing that?! Gotta them 'em when they least expect it!"
