When: Err... yesterday after Duo got his scythe?
Where: Ruto's Lakeside House
Summary: After going out shopping, Duo hears from Sheik and wants to check up on the guy.
Rating: PG-13 for Duo's potty mouth?

Duo was so excited after finding a small version of Deathscythe's main weapon in the shop. He'd almost totally forgotten to get his replacement tools and weapons and he totally forgot to go look for copies of his clothes when he talked to Sheik. They hadn't seen each other in so long, Duo'd started to think the silent guy'd left. He walks around, spinning the de-activated scythe in his hands and getting used to the weight. He looks surprisingly different in the almost see-through white pants given to New Feathers and one of the tanktops he works out in.

He knocks on the door, rubbing his before he's able to raise his voice enough to announce himself. "Hey, buddy! Entertainment's here!"

Link is perplexed. He doesn't recall sharing any fruits with Ruto. "Uh... no, Duo, there weren't any dates. Just the pizza with the little fishes." Though Link spoke to Duo, he did his best to scrutinize Sheik and see how his wounds were coming as well as the unusual clothes.

Ah, so much innocence to tease. "Naw, your date. Goin' out with a girl or guy ya care 'bout or wanna... ah well, never mind that now. Guy takin' a princess out for a bite ta eat and a walk 'round town, yeah, that's a date."

Duo leans back against the wall next to the window and seems to dismiss the topic. Instead he turns his attention to Sheik. "Ya outta come see my place. I make a pretty good pizza and I can put just 'bout anythin' ya want on 'long as we got it here."

"Perhaps I will, should Princess Ruto ever let me out." So far, the chances of that happening anytime soon, were slim. He fixes Link with a stare that says clearly, 'stop that'. He'd had just about enough of those looks from everyone lately.

Link averts his eyes quickly. He feigns looking around the interior of the lake house and does admire some of the craftsmanship until the window catches his eye. The sky burns redder than Sheik's irises and Link can't help but whisper, "The sky almost looks worse than Hyrule's..."

Duo's eyes drift up to look at the sky as well. As if looking at a sky weren't strange enough, a red one's just chilling, even to the colony-born pilot. "We could always break ya out, Sheik. Link can be the bait and we could run off for a bit. Simple, but a pretty good plan."

Sheik redirects his stare to Duo. "And chance Princess Ruto's anger while she is in posession of her power as a Sage? I would rather remain here, than risk further injury." He keeps his tone light however, indicating that he may not be entirely serious. It was his own way of attempting to lighten the mood and keep Link and Duo's attention away from the sky.

"Well," Link offers, "I'm fairly good with bait and tackle... I'd need a fishing rod first." Link eyes Duo's unactivated scythe. "Hey, with some tweaks, that could be useful."

Duo turns to see what Link's talking about. His mouth half opens to answer Sheik and ask what a Sage is and why they should be so violent against an already injured friend. Rather than start his reply, Duo's hand snatches his toy and moves it away from Link. "Ya leave my scythe alone. Assumin' ya didn't slice off a body part, ya'd mess it up and then I'd be really pissed." He tries to add one of Heero's glares for good measure before going back to what he was going to say.

"She really be pissed enough ta beat ya up when you're already injured? Scary princess. Kinda reminds me of another, but she's more of a pink person and she's not happy when she doesn't get her way either. Guess they're all like that."

Sheik raises an eyebrow at the other two. He makes a mental note to not have both of them in the same room while he was present. He could deal with one or the other at any given time, but both was starting to be a bit much. But then again, perhaps he was just tired and maybe everything was less tolerable as a result.

"She would not harm me, but I would find myself without peace for quite a while. It is stressful enough as it is. I do not need to be adding to it." Sheik closes his eyes again, forcing himself to relax.

(ooc: Link-mun's Internet is not working so we're going to skip him while Link stands around and tries to figure out how a stick is a scythe.)

Duo gives Link another glare before looking at Sheik again. No one os monkeying with his scythe, especially just after he got it. There's so much fun to be had and he doesn't want anyone to ruin that by messing with technology they don't understand.

He flexes his hands again to judge their shape and how they're doing after a short rest. "Ya feelin' alright, Sheik? If we're not allowed ta leave, we could do somethin' else ta help with the stress. Assumin' ya don't wanna do what I'd usually recommend so don't even bother askin' what that is. 'sides music, what usually relaxes ya?"

"The kind of peace I desire cannot be found in the current chaos." A blue sky, not a red one, and freedom that can only be found among the wild plants and creatures of the forest. Perhaps a companion to share it with him. That was relaxing, but Sheik could not have it. He wanted to play his lyre, but he couldn't. It was all extremely frustrating.

Link pulls out his ocarina at the suggestion of music. "Sheik... I was practicing some of those nice songs you taught me. Are you up for hearing some? Some people had heard me through the journals and seemed pleased by it." Link smiles gently hoping it will be contagious.

Sheik glances up at Link. "The warp melodies?" he asks quietly. He had known Link had liked them, but to practice them for reason other than transporting oneself seemed a bit strange to the Sheikah.

"Very well, if that is what you wish to do."

"Yeah!" Link looks bashful temporarily and genuinely grins. "Sometimes, I'd play them to myself and not go to the places in Hyrule just because I needed to hear the music again. They don't seem to work here..."

Link puts the ocarina to his mouth and thinks about the warmth and friendship here in this house despite the ominous sky. He takes a deep breath and plays out the notes to the Bolero of Fire and adds some flourishes to cover for Sheik's part.

Duo chuckles silently to himself, seeing something bring a little life and interest back into Sheik. It might not be what Sheik's looking for for peace, but it has to be something. Duo knows the quiet man loves music and he considers bringing Hijiri and his violin next time he visits Sheik.

For now, he leans back on the wall and stays quiet. His scythe is still safe in his hands where the thankfully-distracted fairy boy can't suddenly grab it. No one's going to tinker with his new toy.

Sheik closes his eyes, content to just listen. Hearing the song reminded him painfully of his duties left abandoned in Hyrule, but he chose not to make mention of it.

When Link is finished, Sheik speaks again. "Link, do you know of other songs other than those I taught to you?"

"Oh yeah, I know a lot! Here's one another friend, Saria-Sage of the Forest, taught me." Link is hesitant since he knows this next one may encourage spontaneous dancing in the most unlikely of people. He wouldn't want Sheik to hurt himself but it's an uplifting song. Tentatively he puts the mouth piece to his lips, closes his eyes and lets fly the song of the forest.

It's getting harder for Duo to control the urge to giggle at the musicians. He taps his fingers along his scythe as Link plays and nods to himself. It's a great song to play when spirits are slow. It sounds happy and makes Duo want to smile more. He doesn't even realize when he closes his eyes.

Sheik listens, finding this song to be quite pleasing. He'd only really heard it in bits and pieces in passing, so to hear it in full was nice. He slowly allows a soft smile to grace his features, finding that, at least for right now, everything is fine.

Link sees the pleased expressions and feels a slight amount of pride that, despite the ominous omens in the air and the injuries sustained by his friends, there is peace and happiness in this room. Again, he turns his eyes to the odd rod that Duo had called a scythe and tries to figure out how that could possibly work.

Duo turns to look at Sheik and smiles even more at the soft smile. The guy's always too serious and it's nice to see him enjoying himself. Then he turns his smile to Link to let him know he liked the song, but he frowns quickly when he sees the pointy-eared boy eyeing his scythe again.

He sighs and moves away from both of them, checks the direction, and twists the handle against the bring the blade humming to life again. "See? Perfectly fine. Now stop thinkin' 'bout messin' with it."

Sheik's smile fades with the sound of Duo activating the scythe again. He didn't like that thing, so why was he turning it on again?

"Duo." There's a silent warning in his voice. Put it away.

Link's jaw takes a while to come back back up. Even after closing it, his mouth opens again in wonder. He hesitantly reaches out. "That's..."

Sheik tone actually makes Duo look a little scolded so he twists his hands again and turns it off. "Sorry, Sheik. I just wanted him ta see that it does work... I didn't even swing it."

He might feel a little sad for making Sheik sound like that after he'd been smiling, but he's still proud of his scythe and the reaction from Link. "That's really cool and really hot so no touchy. It'll burn right through a suite... err... it'll melt right through your sword like it's butter."

Sheik returns his stare to out the window. He was getting tired and restless. The music had helped, for a little while, but that was only a temporary fix to a more lasting problem. He lets out a quiet sigh. He hated being injured and forcibly cooped up like this.
