Summary: After going out shopping, Duo hears from Sheik and wants to check up on the guy.
Rating: PG-13 for Duo's potty mouth?

Duo was so excited after finding a small version of Deathscythe's main weapon in the shop. He'd almost totally forgotten to get his replacement tools and weapons and he totally forgot to go look for copies of his clothes when he talked to Sheik. They hadn't seen each other in so long, Duo'd started to think the silent guy'd left. He walks around, spinning the de-activated scythe in his hands and getting used to the weight. He looks surprisingly different in the almost see-through white pants given to New Feathers and one of the tanktops he works out in.

He knocks on the door, rubbing his before he's able to raise his voice enough to announce himself. "Hey, buddy! Entertainment's here!"

Sheik returns his stare to out the window. He was getting tired and restless. The music had helped, for a little while, but that was only a temporary fix to a more lasting problem. He lets out a quiet sigh. He hated being injured and forcibly cooped up like this.

Link didn't unsheathe his sword but he was pretty sure the properties of the master sword could possibly reflect whatever that green fire was. "Butter...," Link thinks aloud.

Link's ears twitch and he is saddened to detect the subtle sigh. He's surprised, though, that Sheik hasn't recovered enough to even sneak out yet. It's so rare for him to stay in one place for so long. "Sheik, you don't suppose that if I get you some milk you'd feel better... do you?"

"Ya know, whitish, yellowy stuff ya put on food? It's soft. It goes right through metal and stuff like that." He's very proud of his scythe, even if it's a miniature version of the full one.

He turns to look at Sheik and frowns when he see him looking unhappy again. "That I guess or I still say we sneak out and at least go sit outside. Fresh air should make ya feel better. We send people back down ta Earth just for it so it's gotta do somethin' good. Ruto can't be too upset if we're tryin' ta help."

Sheik shakes his head at Link's offer. He didn't want anything, and he wasn't overly fond of milk. His eyes drift over to Duo's face. On seeing the frown there, Sheik sighs again, more audibly this time.

"Very well. I will go."

Link beams at the idea. "Alright! Maybe some lake water spraying you will feel good, too!" He goes to hold the door open. While there, the Hylian makes a face at Duo and mutters, "I know what butter is."

Rather than taking after Link and heading through the door, he stands next to Sheik. "Alright, up ya go. I'll stick with ya so I can head Ruto off if she catches us." It's a perfectly reasonable answer and it is the truth if Ruto shows up, but Duo's mostly doing it so that he can be there if Sheik needs help.

He ignores Link and his muttered comment about butter. If he knew what was, he shouldn't have sounded like that. Duo has a hard enough time figuring out how to talk to people from such different worlds. Hell, some of them don't even know what space is. He had such a hard time explaining it to Sheik.

He didn't need help, nor did he want it. It was bad enough having to see everyone's worried looks when they thought he wasn't watching.

Sheik slides out of the window. He moves slowly to the doorway, and after a moment's pause, heads out. Once outside, he pauses to look skyward. It wasn't pleasant, seeing that red sky, but there was little he could do about it.

Link kicks off his boots and sits by the lake's edge, dipping his feet in. He's disappointed because it seems unlikely they will be able to use Duo's rod to fish now. He then looks to the sky like Sheik.

"I haven't heard through the books if anyone found out what's caused the sky to change." He returns his gaze to the lake's surface checking for any sign of Ruto.

Sitting with their feet in the water with Link sounds like a good idea, but Duo has his conterns. "Won't that just attract Ruto? I thought we were tryin' ta avoid her."

It doesn't matter if Sheik needs the help and he didn't explain all the reasons he's sticking near Sheik because he knows he doesn't want the help. "Don't know why it's red and haven't heard anyone tryin' ta explain it. I'd say pollution or somethin's breakin' up the light, but it'd have ta be high up in the atmosphere if we can't tell."

His eyes are slightly dilated as he once again makes use of the Eye of Truth. After a few moments, he shakes his head. "It is not an illusion as far as I can tell. There must be another reason for it, if nothing more than to cause fear."

He moves to sit next to Link, but he does not dip in his already bare feet.

Link frowns. "As far as I know, Zoras can't track you too far. It takes a good disturbance near them before they surface for you." He then turns to Sheik as the other word strikes him as weird, "Pollution?"

Duo chuckles as he stands behind the pair, unconciously falling into a bodyguard role. He has his unactive scythe in hand and his head turns back and forth as he keeps an eye on Sheik and an eye out for Ruto or anyone. "So no chuckin' anyone in the water. I'll remember that."

He sighs a bit and shakes his head when Link has to ask that question. "Pollution, ya know that stuff from factories... no ya don't. Ummm... ya know when ya burn somethin', smoke and black stuff and other things come off that? Well things like that can be pollution dependin' on what you're burnin'. It's like bad air."

Sheik, for his part, stares out over the water, noting with a rather morbid fascination how the sky reflected onto the water made it look like a large pool of blood.

"Eh... Oh, like the air around volcanoes?" Link turns to face the injured sheikah and almost comments that the sky and lake match his eyes, "Sheik, remember how Death Mountain spewed out black smoke before we tamed it?"

Duo's not exactly sure what the air around volcanoes is like, but in theory, it should be about the same idea. "Yeah, somethin' like that, I guess. They spew crap up into the air and stuff. Should be 'bout the same."

"'We'?" Sheik casts Link a sideways glance. "None but yourself was able to tame Volvagia's fire. But yes, it was rather similar to this, as was the sky over Lord Ganondorf's fortress."

"So dragons or magic make pollut..." Link bristles a bit, "Why are you talking about Ganondorf like he's some kind of royalty?"

Duo just stands quietly since now he really doesn't know what they're talking about. He'll just continuing keeping an eye out for anything suspicious.

"He is the Gerudo King, is he not?" There's a hint of amusement in the Sheikah's eyes. "Regardless of what he may have done to them."

Link shrugs. "Not all Gerudos recognize him as king. And you're not even Gerudo!" He looks up to Duo. "Uh... Gerudos are tanned women of the desert. Something about one male birth every hundred years becoming their king... I don't know if you've heard of Ganondorf but he's..." Link trails off. He's a little upset at the mention of that hated name.

Duo grins and shifts his eyes away from the pair so he can scan the lake. "Sounds like a good place ta visit. Dessert sun'll do that to ya. Saw some women like that visitin' Quat's people in the dessert, but I get the feelin' they're not even close ta bein' the same."

"The Gerudo are not overly friendly to outsiders." Sheik pauses, then decides to continue Link's unfinished thought. "Lord Ganondorf is the same man I had spoken of before, Duo. Link is the Hero destined to defeat him and restore our home."

Link's shoulders slump. "It's my fault he made it to the sacred realm..."

Duo chuckles a bit and sounds cocky as can be. "Sounds even more fun now. I like a challenge."

Knowing what Link must feel like, he moves forward and puts a hand on the guy's shoulder. "Ya gotta hard 'nough task. Don't focus on the shit ya messed up. The guys and I killed a whole lotta innocent people when we got some back information. Ya just have ta keep goin' and pay attention ta all the good ya do or you'll make yourself crazy."

"The fault does not lie with you, Link." The Sheikah's expression is calm and carefully composed. "Was it not Princess Zelda that sent you on that quest seven years ago? Was it not her childish ambition to take control of the Sacred Realm? You have faced enough already; you do not need to take the blame for her mistakes."
