She wasn't quite sure what had amused him, but if it made him happy, she supposed why wasn't all that important. And besides, before she had too much time to think on it, he was talking again. Though her head was resting against the arm of the couch and her eyes were closed, she listened intently. He spoke of timing, which she could relate to, and bad luck, which she could relate to that much more.
Lulu appreciated the effort he was putting into this whole conversation thing. She could tell he was in pain... There was an edge to his voice. She could always tell, when it came to pain. In Spira, she was generally responsible for the whole 'you're hurt, you should rest' speech, keeping everybody in check, so her ear had grown sensitive to that sort of thing. And she wished she had something to offer him for it, something to relieve the pain... But unfortunately, all the mage had to offer were conversation and tea.
"Pardon me if this seems arbitrary, but..." Perhaps she should have figured out what she was going to ask before she opened her mouth. "Why did you come? It's not that you're unwelcome, but... Surely there are others from your world here in Luceti who would assist you."
She hoped he understood that as a genuine question rather than as her way of saying he shouldn't have. She really was just curious.
