Summary: Orihime offered to show Magus her ShunShun Rikka and he offered to show off some of his magic.

Orihime closed her notebook and stashed it away. Running a brush quickly through her hair before she slipped from her room. She couldn't figure out why she felt so excited and nervous at the same time. Maybe it was because she hadn't tried to use her abilities since her arrival.

The auburn haired girl waited patiently outside the building she now called home as she waited for Magus. When she first talked to him he seemed a little scary but now she didn't think so. He actually seemed really nice! Kind of like some of the Arrancar...although they were still rough with her.

Magus hadn't had anything to get excited about since first coming to Luceti. Some of the people here might have been interesting, but he'd always been too distracted by the lingering thoughts of escaping and finding Schala to care. The fact that he didn't have anyone here that he recognized didn't exactly help.

He'd only checked on the young girl named Inoue Orihime out of a vague feeling of duty. He had been one of the first to greet her, after all, so he had an obligation to make sure she was alright. But she'd proven rather interesting... this power of hers, he'd wanted to see more of it. And he'd wanted to talk to her more as well.

So it was that he found himself striding up to her just outside the building she'd taken to living in. He hadn't seen her in person before, but the picture from the laptop was easy to recognize. "Nice to see you in person, Miss Inoue."

As Magus approached, Orihime stepped away from the building smiling warmly at him. "Same, Magus-san."

Clasping her hands behind her back she looked around. She still didn't know her way around that much so she wasn't sure where a good place to show off her abilities.

"So where to?" she asked, turning to look back up at him.

Magus considered that for a moment. "Hmmm... We'll need some space, especially for me to show you most of what I can do. I hear there's a lake nearby."

"Oh, a lake sounds nice. You have been here longer than I have so I'm sure you have a better idea of where it is, right?" she replied before looking one way then the other. She knew which way the mountain was but she wasn't sure about the lake.

"I haven't been there myself, let me think for a moment..." Magus lifted his hand to his chin and stroked it, considering. Where was that lake supposed to be... "Ah yes, now I remember. This way." Confidently, he turned to lead the way.

She giggled lightly and followed after him. "I hadn't noticed the snow was beginning to melt. Kind of sad...I was hoping to enjoy it more."

"I'm not sure whether to be used to it or not. There wasn't any snow where I used to live, but I often went to places where there was." Wait, why was he telling her that? Oh well, it wasn't like that was one of his (admittedly many) secrets or anything.

"No snow where you lived? That doesn't sound very fun. I'd been stuck in Las Noches and while everything is white there there's no snow. I wonder how they all dealt with everything being so white? I wasn't there long but I found it boring...aha...not that I didn't have other things to worry abo-" she stopped talking, looking down at her feet as she walked. "Ahaha...sorry I talk too much sometimes."

"Mmmm, it reminds me of someone I know." This was true, though how well Magus could say he knew Lucca was debatable. "As for your thoughts... I suppose it depends on the people in question. Perhaps they just really liked white. I'd agree with you though. A bit of color is nice." Considering his outfit, it probably wasn't a surprise he felt that way.

"Oh."

"Everyone wears white there...with a little bit of black. I even had to wear an outfit like that. Ulquiorra said it was to show my loyalty to Aizen-san." She was sure why she was telling him these things. She hadn't even though of telling Ichigo such things.

"Ulquiorra? Aizen-san? And what's this about loyalty?" Magus wasn't sure why, but he didn't really like what he was hearing. It sounded like the girl was being... used, somehow.

"Ulquiorra was the one sent to take me to Hueco Mundo. If I didn't my friends would have been killed...although...they would have anyway. But I thought I could help somehow. Aizen-san is...a bad person. I'm not loyal to him...no. I just wanted to get close enough to the Hougyoku to revert it to the point where it no longer existed. But now that I'm here...I can't do a thing." she sighs. "I just want this whole war to be over."

"War, huh..." he sighed, lowering and shaking his head from side to side. "One huge waste. So they threatened you into going along with their plans? Sick bastards. Just like Dalton..."

"It...turned out he didn't need me anyway. I was nothing more than a lure...now everyone back home is in danger. I'm sure some of the Arrancar could be really nice if it weren't for Aizen-san." She looked up again at their surroundings, surely they were getting close to the lake. "Um...who's Dalton?"

Indeed, the trees around them were opening up to show a flat expanse of white in the distance. "Ah, that must be it. Seems it hasn't started to thaw yet. As for Dalton..." Magus frowned, as if trying to think of how to describe him. "He was a military commander I knew... Arrogant, self-serving, abusive to the weak, he believed that power was all that was important. Especially power for himself."

"I see. Power seems to be what a lot of people seek." She looked ahead and sure enough they were just about there. "Its pretty even though its frozen over." And that's when she got an idea. If her powers were going to work as they normally would maybe she could use them to revert a small area back to the spring time.

"They usually have their reasons... I spent a great deal of time and effort amassing power for myself." Magus looked the lake over. Inoue was right, it was quite lovely. This would be a good place to try out some fire magic.

"I suppose but often they hurt others in the process." Orihime stopped and took a breath. "Alright, I'll show you the ShunShun Rikka now!" She took another deep breath and concentrated as she raised her hands to the hairclips in her hair. She had gotten to the point where she didn't have to talk in order to summon the fairies.

After a moment nothing happened, she blinked and looked around. "...Why?"

He watched in quiet contemplation. He'd expected her powers to be reduced from their usual levels, not that he knew what those were, but to be completely removed? "Strange... what did the Malnosso do to you?"

"Maybe I just need to call them out like I used to. Or concentrate harder." After another deep breath to regain her composure she nodded, ready to try again. "I'll try Hinagiku, Lily, and Baigon first. Santen Kesshun, I reject!"

At first it seemed nothing would happen when one hairpin split into three, forming glowing triangular shield in front of the girl. When it became evident there was no threat the shield dropped and the three fairies looked over at Orihime, confused. "Ahaha, sorry, I just wanted to show you to a new friend."

He waited quietly as she tried again, nodding at her voicing her thoughts. When the second try worked, he couldn't help but grin at the shield. He recognized powerful magic when he saw it.

At Orihime's half-introduction, he gave the fairies a little bow. "Greetings. I am Magus."

Before the shield half of the ShunShun Rikka could say anything they returned to their resting place, leaving Orihime with a confused look on her face.

"Maybe...I can't keep them out as long here." she mused out loud after a moment. In fact she noticed she felt like even that short amount of time had taken more energy than it normally would have.

"I guess I should show you the part of my power I was talking about it. I would call out Tsubaki...but he gets angry when there's no reason for him to be out." she said in apologetic tone. Orihime took a moment to look around before spotting a small tree, still covered in ice.

"I'll try it on this. I should be able to return it to how it looked in the spring." she said, moving closer to it. As soon as she felt she was close enough she concentrated on it, raising her hands to her hairpins again. "Sōten Kisshun, I reject!"

Just as before it took a moment for her powers to active. But just as before two pieces broke free and moved toward the tree. A golden bubble enveloped the tree and slowly the snow and ice began to vanish. The tree looked as if it were a recorded video being rewound. Unfortunately, before most of it's fallen leaves could return in their brightly colored glory the bubble shattered and fairies returned to Orihime. After which she slipped to her knees, feeling drained.

Her brown eyes focused on the tree in confusion. "I...even if I'm weakened...shouldn't I have...shouldn't the tree have still gone back to what I was focusing on? I'm...I'm not of much use if I'm this weak..."

Magus watched quietly as she demonstrated her powers. When she fell from exhaustion, though, he couldn't help but move to lift her back up to her feet. It was, after all, only the gentlemanly thing to do.

Her voiced concerns led him to think for a moment. After a few seconds, he shook his head at her, his expression serious. "No... it only makes sense they would have reduced its power. Think about it. This ability can reverse the time of something to any given point, correct?"

Orihime held onto him, blushing lightly.

"But..." she looked down and sighed. "I guess you're right." After she felt steady enough on her feet she stepped back from Magus. "Now your turn."

"Alright. Step back just a little." Magus turned to face the lake, and began to make a few quick gestures. His hands glowed red, and the familiar rush of power flowed through him... "Fire Two!"

A wave of fire exploded forth from him, smashing into the frozen lake. Immediately a large chunk of it was not so frozen anymore. Of course, this was nowhere near his usual level of ability (he could normally have thawed at least half of it), but he figured it was pretty good, given the cap.
