Summary: Worlds Collide, expectations are challenged, and what are you talking about, Sokka, we've been dating for a month.

Katara and her boyfriend, Bumi's ward Masaomi, are heading back to the house after Katara had an experience that left her shaken with an Avatar that doesn't remember her. Sokka and his good friend Winry from Omashu are moving her back into the Avatar House after her belongings had mysteriously vanished. What could possibly go wrong?

[It was a good idea, bringing Masaomi home with her to see just how far this strangeness had invaded their understandings of home. They could sit down with Sokka and Zuko and Suki and figure this thing out - how were they going to relate to Aang? Besides, although she'd hesitate to admit it, Katara drew comfort from his continued presence. They walked comfortably, hand-in-hand, from his apartment near the village back to House 56.]

So have you run into anyone else effected by this experiment?

[Hand in hand, walking home. To be honest, he's deeply confused by Aang, his Avatar, being like that. It's one of the more unsettling things he's seen in Luceti so far. But as for anyone else... He thinks to conversations he's had so far today.]

If they were... I'm not quite sure yet.

What about Shikamaru?

He still thinks he's a ninja, and said the morning was troublesome.

[There may have been some more subtle changes, but he's not going to touch on one of their mutually good friends having anything odd when it isn't obvious on top of their Avatar]

[Especially considering she just spent the last bit of time watering your shirt, so you probably do too.]

I'm going to agree. [His King gave him a lot of very unpredictable mornings. But to be honest... they didn't hurt and they were things he could predict well enough. sort of. Luceti is way more unsettling in that respect.]

Buuut. I suspect I'll see more odd things by the time the day's out.

I haven't really seen Sokka or Suki yet today. Zuko either. [Masaomi will probably be able to tell, though, that the one who bothers her the most out of this equation is the possibility her brother won't be 'hers' anymore. That kills her a little bit every time.]

I hope that they recognize us.

[To be honest, he really doesn't care much about Zuko's recognition. He knows Katara has had time in Luceti be more cool with him, but he barely had personal interaction (if at all) before Luceti and his rep from before Luceti means while he has gotten more neutral here, it's not positive.

...Suki would be a shame but he too would be unsettled by Sokka being different. Perhaps because of that, his grip squeezes a bit]

It'd be pretty wrong if they didn't.

[Her heart goes out to him at that hand-squeeze, because this has to be difficult for him too, because he understands how much this would hurt her...]

...even if they don't, it won't last forever.

[She stops walking and tugs at his hand to clue him in that she wants him to turn and look at her.]

And we still have each other.

[He does turn to look. A little curious, but mostly just grateful for that last statement]

We do at that. I'm glad for it, Katara. [That whole Luffy thing (and that he was with a dude) back in Valentines and them broken up in Luceti Valley. It's nice to have her be normal during a mix up thing like this]

[She nods and, still holding his hand, leans in for a kiss - really, she's just intending it as a quick, reassuring peck.]

[After seeing and dealing with her crying earlier today, a part of him wants to draw it out. (to be honest, a part of him just wants to have some longer lasting kissing period which'll make he feel less sad and make him feel less sad too) As it is, though, he only contends to make it long enough for him to give his own short reciprocation before the moment passes and when it does]

[Heh. She blushes lightly and smiles - small, but genuine, and not completely unaware of a double-meaning there, since she was fairly sure the kiss had been more reassuring than her words. At least, she felt more reassured afterwards.]

Thank you. [And tugging his hand, she starts walking again.] It's nice to be appreciated.

[He rocks the hand holding hers now, a little smile on his face and wiggling the fingers of his free hand] Oh, without a doubt. All else fails, we can go be "appreciated" together.

[...That said, he's still offput by Aang and hesitant by Sokka. Part if why he's reaching for a joke here]

[She gives him a wry look.]

I don't know. Too much "appreciation" can lead to people getting a big head. And we wouldn't want that.

[But she lightly squeezes the hand she's holding. It will be okay.]

I am but a humble man, it's not like "appreciation" will magically make me a king.

Oh, I'm not worried about you becoming a king - I certainly appreciate your humility. But I think it's better not to take any chances. We wouldn't want to get bored of it.

[He slouches/leans down a bit as they're walking to bat his eyes a bit at her for this next one]

There's a risk of you getting bored, is there, Katara?

[Her lips quirk up, though she tries to keep her smile from breaking out fully.]

Of being appreciated? Never. I'm just concerned for you.

Touching, but I'm afraid it might be a little unfounded. After all, I just have so much appreciation to give you.

[And he stands tall once more, laughing a bit at his own joke]

[A faint blush touches her cheeks at that one, and, still smiling, Katara glances away.]

As much as I appreciate your point, that wasn't what I meant.

[No, indeed, she was making the teasing point that he would grow bored with her - as little as Katara cared for titles, there was still something about dating the ward of a king which occasionally threw her off. Despite the testimony of the past several months, it was hard to believe he'd really had his pick of anyone in Luceti and had chosen her.

But she'd much rather not get into that seriously. It would spoil the mood and--]
