Katara and her boyfriend, Bumi's ward Masaomi, are heading back to the house after Katara had an experience that left her shaken with an Avatar that doesn't remember her. Sokka and his good friend Winry from Omashu are moving her back into the Avatar House after her belongings had mysteriously vanished. What could possibly go wrong?

[It was a good idea, bringing Masaomi home with her to see just how far this strangeness had invaded their understandings of home. They could sit down with Sokka and Zuko and Suki and figure this thing out - how were they going to relate to Aang? Besides, although she'd hesitate to admit it, Katara drew comfort from his continued presence. They walked comfortably, hand-in-hand, from his apartment near the village back to House 56.]

So have you run into anyone else effected by this experiment?

[Hand in hand, walking home. To be honest, he's deeply confused by Aang, his Avatar, being like that. It's one of the more unsettling things he's seen in Luceti so far. But as for anyone else... He thinks to conversations he's had so far today.]

If they were... I'm not quite sure yet.

What about Shikamaru?

He still thinks he's a ninja, and said the morning was troublesome.

[There may have been some more subtle changes, but he's not going to touch on one of their mutually good friends having anything odd when it isn't obvious on top of their Avatar]

I'm going to agree. [His King gave him a lot of very unpredictable mornings. But to be honest... they didn't hurt and they were things he could predict well enough. sort of. Luceti is way more unsettling in that respect.]

Buuut. I suspect I'll see more odd things by the time the day's out.

I haven't really seen Sokka or Suki yet today. Zuko either. [Masaomi will probably be able to tell, though, that the one who bothers her the most out of this equation is the possibility her brother won't be 'hers' anymore. That kills her a little bit every time.]

I hope that they recognize us.

[Slowly but surely both Sokka and Winry proceeded to move the girl's things "back" into "her room." Though while both are capable of some heavy lifting, they needn't strain themselves because Winry has a small red wagon that she's toting around with her. They'll be bringing in stuff that ranges from her pictures to her assorted blue prints. She feels she shouldn't leave anything behind...!]

Hey, Sokka. Did you notice anything else weird today?

[This sure is a lot of junk. The Malnosso really know how to be a pain, randomly moving people's stuff like this. At least they're onto their last load back.]

Besides Suki thinking I'd been gone yesterday? Or Aang suddenly becoming the second Robin? Or Hiccup training those pokemon things? Nah, it's just another normal day in Luceti.

I don't know. Even for an experiment things are pretty weird. Nothing adds up. Shouldn't there be a common thread or something?

Sometimes these experiments are all over the place. But so far? I'm not picking up on one. Unless it's a repeat of that time everyone wanted to try new jobs. Here. [He handed a lighter box to take outside to the wagon, while he took up the last, heavier box.]

[Winry hauls that out, piles it on top of what may already be there, and walks to the front of the wagon so that she may pull it to house 56.]

I really wished they'd give us a notice before everything changed around. Like a weather forecast for experiments.

And ruin the surprise? It wouldn't be nearly as fun for them.

[That's definitely the last of it. He'd offer to pull, but... looks like she's got it.]

I just don't get why they'd drop you off at the Hughes place. They had your stuff split into two different rooms!

[from here - Masaomi, pissed off and holding it in, is now carrying some more heavy things for Winry into "her" (hah) room. Still... as this'll be his first time meeting a Winry who they met in Omashu, he decides to ought to put on his most polite smile and knock before opening the door to just come in]

Winry? Excuse me, I'm here to help you out.

[Winry was bent over, unpacking clothes. When her name is called she stands and looks at the boy in the doorway.]

Hello? Who are you?

My name's Masaomi. [A beat] I've been a friend of Aang and the others for quite a while now.

[reoccurred]

So have I, but I haven't heard of you before.

[generalflirt]

That does seem to be a trend...

[...Ugh. Okay keep smiling, and do a little bow] To introduce myself properly, I'm Masaomi from Omashu.

[reoccurred]

[She perks up at that, and smiles.]

Really? I'm from Omashu as well! It's a pleasure to meet you.

[And sometime after this one there's been a third switch, namely, for Katara to go and talk with Winry (Masaomi feels bad for her, sigh) and he... with a heavy heart is going to talk with Sokka. Still, he's put a smile onto his face, forcing himself a bit. After all, this is his friend]

[As it turns out, after his conversation with Katara, Sokka decided to go outside. He's leaning against the stone in his honor, while using a whetstone to sharpen his hunting knife. His mind is filled with thoughts. Like what this all meant for Winry, about Katara's different life experiences, and how Masaomi could be his friend. It was all hard to reconcile. But mostly he was trying to figure out what was real.

When Masaomi stepped outside, he could hear the door creak open and then close.

He should probably talk to him.]

So. I guess I know your story now.

[generalflirt]

[...Hm, that tone isn't as hostile as before. It almost feels normal, even if it's a bit more distant than he would like. The smile fades and he adopts a more neutral expression, shifting to a standing position, leaning slightly to one side]

It's a pretty strange tale, I know.

[markofthewise]

It's different than the one I know. [In Luceti. In home. Way different. He glances at Masaomi and though he might be trying to hide any feelings, he's able to guess what he might be thinking. Should he be friendly with Masaomi when he knows it'll go back to business as usual when the experiment ends? Is it worth the effort?

He'd been in those shoes before. Convinced of a life he never met. Different relationships. And people had doubted he was real. He doubted if they were real too. But it was easier when people played along.]

I know I wouldn't trust Bumi with a baby. [It's a joke, but there's no grin that comes with it. Just Sokka looking back down at his knife, running the stone over the edge again.]

[Masaomi is genuinely defensive when people are actually insulting his father. This. Is not one of those times. Instead, he allows this to fall into a joke land, and allows a more forces smile to spread out on his face]

He's just a liiiittle more gentle than people might expect. Sometimes.

[markofthewise]

Bending requires precision, just like swordplay. If you're going to be throwing around giant boulders, you need to be gentle if you don't want to crush somebody on accident. [He has his experiences as an Avatar to thank for that insight.] He may be a weird old man, but he certainly has that down.

[Even as he says that, he thinks of the baseball. Masaomi's lack of control. The Masaomi he knows, as an earthbender, would crush a man flat without meaning to.]
