What: Masaomi being hospitalized
When: June 9th night -> June 11th
Where: Tunnels -> Med Center
Summary: Masaomi is critically injured back during the mission and after he gets back people cart him off to the Battle Dome's med center, where he is treated. People can then visit him.

[In retrospect, Shikamaru's glad he couldn't use chakra 90% of the time on that mission. Now that the soldier pill he took has worn off, he's feeling three days build-up of exertion, but it's all physical. He has chakra to spare, and he's using it to keep himself awake for now.

Thinking about it clinically like this is a good distraction. He folds his hands behind his head and tilts his chair back to balance on two legs against the wall. He'd look way too casual for this if he hadn't situated himself in the hall directly across the door to Masaomi's room. He doesn't take his eyes off that door.]

[Aang eventually notices Shikamaru. And how intent his stare is. He suppresses a yawn and makes his way over to check up on him.]

Hey.

Yo. [He doesn't look away, but he's watching Aang out of the corner of his eye.] ...sorry for the wake-up call.

[Since he can gather Aang is here to support Katara, who he did probably wake up.]

It's fine, Shikamaru. I want to make sure he's okay too.

He will be. He has both Katara and Law in there with him. Three people I have every confidence in.

[Yes, Masaomi included.]

[He smiles. ...But Shikamaru's stare and the intensity of the statement leave him uncertain about how confident he is.]

I don't know Law, but I'm definitely with you about Katara. Even before she learned all this new stuff here, she saved my life back home. [In the most literal way possible. But Aang pauses and glances at the door.] What happened out there?

[Silver would know better than him, being the one who was there. Actually, he does look away now to glance at him, but only briefly. Long enough to confirm that yeah, the other boy doesn't need that brought up again.

So Aang gets the abridged version.]

Cultists showed up before the Malnosso could get us out of there. We had no choice but to fight them off until we could get to safety. It was some overwhelming odds.

[He listens warily and feels a slight amount of guilt when he realizes the danger coming from the mission. He wonders if he could have helped.]

Oh. I'm sorry that happened. [Pause] Are you okay, Shikamaru?

[This is such a striking contrast to how things usually go after ugly missions back home. You'd think he'd like it, but... He just raises an eyebrow.]

I'm tired, but I'm fine. It's the others I'm worried about.

But Masaomi's being taken care of. You just told me how much you trust the people involved. So why don't you try to get some rest for yourself?

[Even if he doesn't seem to be injured, Aang's still concerned if he was out there with them that whole time.]

[Shikamaru shakes his head, but otherwise doesn't answer.

He does trust them, completely. That they can help him has never been in question. But he needs to see this through too.]

[The silent answer is the opposite of reassuring. Aang tries to place a hand on his shoulder.]

It's okay, Shikamaru. You can relax.

[Come on, be an adult about this. He rubs the spot in between in his forehead.]

There's time for that later. [He snorts, and smiles.] I don't think they'll keep us waiting long.

Then we can just, uh, "chill" here. And take our minds off of this for a while. It'll do good.

Yeah. [He's not feeling it. But he looks over at the other lot that's in here too, again.] Maybe find something to eat.

Yeah! That could be a good start. [He glances around.] ...Is there any food near here?

You remember where we watched that Pokemon fight? There's some vending machines up there.

Right! [He waves his hand in the general direction.] Let's go check them out.

[He doesn't move at first, torn because he feels he really needs to be here.

That's nerves. Aang really has the right idea here, doesn't he? Shikamaru nods and sets his chair down on all four legs.]

Gimme a sec. I'll see if the others want anything.

[He gives a meek smile and just hovers (not literally) around nearby.]

Sure. Whenever you're ready.

[Doop doop. Assuming that takes a little while, but nevertheless he's got some orders. Let's go, bro.]

[He nods and starts to set off alongside Shikamaru with a smile.]

I could go for a good snack.
