What: Masaomi being hospitalized
When: June 9th night -> June 11th
Where: Tunnels -> Med Center
Summary: Masaomi is critically injured back during the mission and after he gets back people cart him off to the Battle Dome's med center, where he is treated. People can then visit him.

[He stares at the face for a good half of a minute. While he slowly opens his own bag, plops the first gummy into his mouth and chews it. Then he realizes it.]

Oh, Katara never told you? I was frozen in an iceberg for a hundred years.

Oh, okay. [He nods, opening his chip bag.] That explains it.

Uh-huh. That's how I first met Katara and Sokka. But I didn't really get any older when I was frozen, so it's like I'm just fourteen now. Otherwise I'd look like an old man!

I think you'd look a little worse than that.

Maybe! But us Avatars are supposed to live a long time. Avatar Kyoshi was around for over two hundred years, and her spirit looked real healthy.

...wow. People can really live that long?

Yeah, and not just Avatars. My childhood friend, Bumi, he's still alive after all the time in the iceberg. I guess I'd look all wrinkly and weird like him. ...And there was also that Guru! He said he was a friend of Monk Gyatso's, so he had to be more than a hundred too!

Man. [Of all the things he's heard here, that's surprisingly high up on his weird list.] I've met a lot of older people here, but that sounds crazy.

Hey, if you live a healthy lifestyle, who knows? [He's about to put another gummy in his mouth, but then he stares at it in realization.] Mostly healthy...

Heh. That only goes so far where I'm from. The average life expectancy is about thirty.

Whoa, really? That's not a lot of time. You don't know any really old people?

I know some. The Hokage's in her fifties, and the Third lived even longer than that. Those two in the council are ancient...

[He's met plenty of older civilians, but that's a different discussion.]

It's less impossible, and more just unlikely.

I bet you can catch up with them, Shikamaru. You could be a really cool old guy.

Heh. [How about that.] I really hope so.

[Being as cool as Asuma-sensei seems like a lofty ambition sometimes.]

If you keep taking care of yourself, I'm sure Old Man Shikamaru will be around to play all kinds of cool games. [Pause as he chews down another fruit snack.] You know, I heard I actually was old for a few days the other week.

Aa. You were. I met the older you.

[...and in a way some other things he's not sure he should've seen. So much has gone on lately, he nearly forgot.]

Nope, the others around the house had to tell me about it. It's the first experiment thing where I can't remember really anything at all.

[He rubs his chin as they approach said vending machine.]
