Oi--Harry?

[Don't mind the Thief in a tree.]

He sounded like he was right above me. I blinked and looked up...

... and found him up a tree. Too high to have climbed, unless Spider-Man helped him up there.

"Lupin, you know those wings are for show..."

... Weird. Rhymed again.

[Lupin glanced down and lifted an eyebrow at Dresden.]

Tell that to the Malnosso. I think they want me to try to be a bird.

I circled the tree for a minute, trying to find some way of conveying him down.

"How the hell did you get up there?"
redjacketthief: (-glasses- moody)

You know the doors around here? They're not taking me where they should.
quicktoanger: (Amused)

"... Ouch."

Well, I didn't really even know how I'd get him down. Unless...

"... Hey, you know that jacket I was gonna enchant for you?"
redjacketthief: (-glasses- thoughtful)

That is a commission in process.

[He glanced down, curious.]

What are you thinking?
quicktoanger: (Grin)

"How about we try this for a quick preview?"

I shrugged off my duster, rolled it into a tight bundle, and tossed it up to him.

"Put it on, then try and jump down. It'll soften the landing when you hit the ground."

[He caught it easily and cast Harry a look of bemusement.]

I thought you said it worked on bullets?

"It's an all-purpose shield, it protects from a lot. Besides, that's the only protective item I've got."
redjacketthief: (-glasses- dubious)

Hmm...

I'm trusting you on this, Harry. [Because he couldn't afford any more injuries or lasting conditions at this point. Lupin shrugs into the duster, familiar with the weight and length of it on his person. It was in his possession for the better part of a month; don't think that he didn't try it on in a fit of whimsy.

Once on he glances at his path, taking note of trajectory and possible obstacles. He plans his route carefully--

and drops.]

Good, he picked a clear drop. I'd taken a few falls in that thing. Human instinct, when you fall, is to get the limbs under you and curl against the blow. Not only does this let you instinctively redistribute the weight of your impact, but it also means your arms are taking a lot of the hit- and the arms had the protection of the coat's enchantments. so would his legs, the coat being as long as the coat was.

Still, just in case, I got ready to catch him if he looked like he was going to land badly.

[Due to his high flying career, knowing how to take a fall was second nature. If he hadn't learned to protect himself, he would have died many years ago. Leaping from buidings and biplanes is enough to make anyone sharpen their skills.

It was no problem. Literally.]
