Pinkie's New Feather Party: The Masquerade Ball!

The night is finally here! Pinkie Pie and friends have been working hard to get everything absolutely perfect. The Battle Dome has been done up to look like a grand ballroom, complete with dance hall and dining area. A small, but elegantly decorated stage is situated in the middle of the dance hall, and is equipped with microphones and speakers for anyone willing to perform. Otherwise, the dome is set up to play songs on request.

The dining area is equipped with a buffet-style dinner selection, filled with food contributed by various donators, highlighted by a large cake at the central table, which is then surrounded by smaller tarts, pies and pastries. Wine, champagne, and other choice drinks are available from ice chests near the buffet line.

Finally, since it was so popular with the last party, the night will be ended with a fireworks display over the dome. Afterwards, Pinkie Pie will be going around making sure everyone gets home safely, before returning to the dome to start cleaning up.

Note: Like Pinkie's last party, this one has a theme: a Masquerade Ball. Everyone who enters must wear a mask, and keep it on for the entirety of the party. If you haven't picked one out yourself, Pinkie would be more than happy to provide one for you.

[Well, it's been quite a while since we've ever been to a party, let alone a masquerade. But Cilan (surprisingly) keeps his attire simple for this occasion since...well, he already normally dresses in suits anyway. So you'll likely catch him dressed as he usually is, save for the addition of a mask and cape of sorts, more than willing to be social with anyone who wants to chat.

No promises on his abilities when it comes to dancing, though. ^^;;]

Hm? [Oh, well hello Platina!] Indeed I am--it sounded like it would be an interesting occasion with an enjoyable flavor to indulge in. [Cilan...] How are you liking it so far? Is it to your tastes?

[leadinglady]

It is! I've been to balls before. It's been a while, though.

[ but she's pretty much in her element here 8) ]

Mm. It's been a while myself since I was last at a masquerade such as this one, but so far this party has had a nice taste, and it's interesting to see the variety of masks and outfits everyone has with them here. [Though, he doesn't quite have fond memories of that last one he was at because Team Rocket stuff. Also the episodes for it were delayed.]

[leadinglady]

That's true! I was surprised to find my outfit here. I've worn this to a contest before, actually, but this mask is new.

[ she touches the edge of her piplup mask, then the skirt of her dress. shh this is the height of berlitz fashion, okay... ]

I see! It's certainly a very unique mask you have, though your dress has a lovely taste as well. [He adjusts his own eye-mask a little] Admittedly, I was a little surprised to see that my cape and mask were still amongst my belongings brought with me here too. After all, I don't think I've worn this in quite some time since the filming of "The Legend of the Pokemon Knight" back in Unova.

[leadinglady]

I've never heard of that movie! It must not have been released in Sinnoh... and I didn't know you were an actor, too!

[cilantro]

[He gives a slightly sheepish laugh] While I do have an interest in movies, I don't know if I can truly call myself an actor, per say. I've only been in two movies, and both were small productions made by a friend of mine named Luke, along with a few other friends that starred in it too.

...Though, they're still movies with an interesting flavor and they seem to be doing well with winning awards in film festivals that he shows it to. Last I was aware of, he's at the Poke'Star Studios in Virbank City, working on a new feature-length movie that will be more widely distributed once it's finished.

[Oho, a cape. Swanky. That familiar clothing completely gives Cilan away though.]

Good evening Cilan! Are you enjoying the party?

[This whole place has a pretty lavish set-up. It might even rival the famed parties she's only heard about that take place on the S.S. Anne.]

[We thought it would be best to go with a familiar flavor for this occasion, but hey at least our cape and mask are cool.]

Oh, good evening to you as well Duplica! So far it's been quite a pleasant taste to partake in here--it reminds me of the sort of parties that occasionally take place in Castelia City. [But then Team Rocket and Plasma stuff happened and the episodes got delayed or something, oops.] Have you been enjoying the festivities as well?

[samehere]

I have, it's not often I get to be in large crowds like this. Normally I'm the one up on stage.

[Tonight though she's just here to enjoy herself, not entertain... Even if she's been switching between five different dresses at random intervals, that's just her having a little fun.]

It's these kind of parties that you hear so much about but you never actually expect to go to one. The dancing and everything else is so much fun!

[cilantro]

[He nods in agreement as he adjusts his mask a little] It certainly is! Also, it's very interesting to see the different varieties of masks and outfits everyone here is wearing as well--it's not often that you see everyone dress more extravagantly than they usually do, after all. [You know other than us who wears a suit 24/7]

That's true. Even as an imitator I rarely find myself wearing something as fancy as this.

[But who goes around wearing formal clothing all the time-- Oh. Right.]

I don't think I've ever had to wear a mask before. Though this is my first masquerade ball, so I guess that's a given.

[cilantro]

Mm, right. I think the last party I was at was similar to a masquerade too, but I haven't worn this particular apparel in some time, at least not since helping out with a movie Luke was filming quite sometime ago. [You remember him mentioning Luke before, right?]

[samehere]

[She does!] I see, so you're out today all dressed up for a part in a movie. Would Cilan, aspiring actor, like to dance with a rising star in the world of imitation, Duplica?

[cilantro]

Well, I don't see why not. Shall we make our way to the dance floor? [He even offers a hand out to the other. Do you know how to dance, Duplica...?]

[He recognizes that green hair! You're the person who'd cooked for the dexholders during that camping trip they'd had! May as well say hello again. Better to fraternize with someone who at least respects that this is a party that requires formal wear. Shhh capes are totally formal wear in pokeworld. Wallace wears one almost all the time.]

Hello again Cilan. [Says Ruby, dressed up like something akin to a Mightyena Tuxedo Mask.]

Hm? Ah, hello again Ruby. [...Wait, you're not a bitty anymore? Luceti how do you even function He stares a little curiously for a moment before he seems to focus on your mask and clothing--something to focus on that isn't confusing.] My, your outfit certainly has an interesting flair. The mask especially has a creative taste to it.

Mightyena have the most elegant fur and move with grace! But they're also mysterious, being the dark-types that they are; I couldn't think of a more appropriate pokemon to derive a mask from, and of course my Nana was the biggest inspiration of all... [Is my ego suffocating you yet?]

[Nope, not yet...or possibly ever. He nods along in agreement.]

I can certainly see why they would be a wonderful inspiration to draw from...ah, I take it that means you made the mask yourself, right?

That's right. Making apparel for pokemon is a hobby of mine, but I do know how to make normal clothing. I'd almost forgotten what it was like to work on people attire.

Did you make your mask too, Cilan? It suits you. [... Ruby oh my gosh are you actually complimenting someone else's state of dress? What sorcery is this? Is it because you've found someone who can withstand your huge ego?]

Ah, I see! That's a terrific hobby to have--I'd like to see what kind of tastes you have when it comes to making clothing for Pokemon sometime... [At the mention of his own apparel, he adjusts his mask slightly, offering a somewhat sheepish smile.]

And thank you, I'm glad you approve! But sadly, I can't quite take the credit for making it all on my own. It's part of a costume that I had long since before I arrived here in Luceti. [And yet still kept on hand even after the one time it was used...]

Well I do owe you a demonstration of Pokemon Contests; my team wears the outfits I make for them as part of their performance, so I could demonstrate both things at once.

Was your costume part of a performance too?

Oh, that would be wonderful! I look forward to seeing your demonstration of the different flavors that come with taking part in contests.

[As for our costume...] You could say that as it was part of a performance of sorts--you see, it was for a role I played in a movie a friend of mine was filming, "The Legend of the Pokemon Knight", which also had a few of our other friends acting in it as well.
