DRAFT - The Battle of Vaskoth

On the 25th, Lucetians are ushered in to join an already growing army to repel the Cultists.

On the 26th, strange symptoms are reported. The first Runners appear and by nightfall, the hospital is lost.

On the 27th, the cultist horde is completely lost to the virus. They send no more reinforcements.

On the 28th, the situation is grim and an evacuation is called. But the battle is not over.

Notes: There will be two NPC threads. One for Specialist Davis and another for Carol.

[It's kind of difficult to know when exactly the next day had arrive with how it was always nighttime in this place, but it's safe to assume it probably was after several hours of rest. Roku and Aang had gone out to do a bit of scouting, mostly helping those who need to be taken to the hospital and getting supplies. He can only hope they won't run into too many enemies today. Yesterday's experience was...rough, to put it one way. He's never had to fight as hard as he had to yesterday, where you could DIE if you mess up. The realization didn't hit him until halfway through the day, when the enemies were more abundant. It's gotten him a little uneasy about what he had just gotten himself into.

He tries to hide his uneasiness the best he can as the draft continues, although he can't help being jumpy at the faintest of sounds.]

Did you hear that?

26th

[It was pretty rough to be back on the battlefield again - and being with Roku was both tough and weirdly surreal. He had adjusted to living with his former life, but now here they were physically working together on a battlefield as two Avatars, a sheer impossibility back home. It was comforting, too, in a way. He remembered how uneasy he was in the last draft with how accustomed Sokka and Katara had been to... finishing enemies. With Roku, they had trouble in battle, but at least he was with someone who was just as unwilling to kill.

Aang looked around as Roku addressed him.]

Hear what?

[flameoroku]

[He looks around, at where he thought he heard something. A frown]

...Maybe it was nothing. I'm surprised we haven't run into anything yet.

[He glanced back at Roku, a little uncertain. And a little childishly jealous that Roku got to bring his glider.]

It's okay. You're just... just nervous. It gets like that when you're... starting things like this. But you're right. It's been... too quiet around here.

[flameoroku]

Nervous? I'm not nervous, I'm just staying very alert. [He then eyes his surrounding with all seriousness...but then frowns again. This was a little hard to admit or talk about.]

...All right, maybe I am a little. I'm worried I might slow everyone else down, because of my inexperience to something like...[a war] Do you know how long we're suppose to be here?

[He gives a quiet nod of solidarity.]

I know as much as you. Which... isn't much. The last time I was on one of these, it only lasted a few days. [A few horrible, Avatar State-inducing days.] This could be the same, and I hope it's shorter. But... it's okay. It's not your fault. It's the Malnosso's for making you come here.

[Odd. Aang almost thought he heard something that time. But it must have been nothing.]

A few days...at least we were able to keep Ikki out of this. I can't believe they would just throw anyone into this.

I know. I can't forgive them for trying to get Ikki involved. [And he's someone who always forgives.] But I'm glad, so glad we were able to help her. I can't thank you enough for your help, Roku. But... yeah, a few days. If there's been any that lasted more than a week, I never heard of them. [But then the drafts were a subject that were avoided as much as possible.]

[flameoroku]

[A small smile.] I can't take all the credit, we all did our part to protect Ikki--

[Roku stops talking when there was an odd rustling sound coming from their right. He tenses up, looking in the direction where the sound came from, unable to see what exactly was making it.

Please let it just be some animal scurrying around]

[This was a definite noise. He spins around to try to face the bushes, a slight panic in his tone.]

Who's there?

[Something starts to lunge out from the bushes. Like a foot soldier, but... something's wrong. For one, it's movements are too fast for Aang to get a good look at it. Not to mention it doesn't even seem to be holding any weapons. Aang quickly raise an earth wall in front of him and Roku to try to at least stall it.]

[flameoroku]

[That actually made Roku jump, his staff raised as a reaction to defend himself, but he just sees an earth wall before him. Someone DID hit though, making a loud thudding sound and then it goes quiet.]

What...? [He looks to Aang, and then moves to one side of the stone wall. There's an odd groaning sound as he stood behind that wall. He looks back to Aang again, making a sort of gesture to him to go to the other corner of the wall. They could surprise it from both side.]

[Aang nods and follows his maneuver. Confusion. Pretty smart choice, Roku. So he moves and peeks around his side of the earth wall, ready to defend himself immediately...]

[Roku looks around the same time Aang does and barely has time to respond as whatever was behind that wall decides to lunge at Roku.

He's going to airbend and push himself and that thing away. Of course that means it's going in Aang's direction now.]

[It is. And luckily Aang has a few more bending tricks up his sleeve. He bends part of the wall so it "punches" out and knocks the Cultist to the side. However, he's quickly back on his feet and lunging back at Aang. He seems quicker and stronger than any foot soldier that Aang's seen... and he makes the mistake of looking him in the eye. There's something inhuman and disturbing in those eyes.]
