DRAFT - The Battle of Vaskoth

On the 25th, Lucetians are ushered in to join an already growing army to repel the Cultists.

On the 26th, strange symptoms are reported. The first Runners appear and by nightfall, the hospital is lost.

On the 27th, the cultist horde is completely lost to the virus. They send no more reinforcements.

On the 28th, the situation is grim and an evacuation is called. But the battle is not over.

Notes: There will be two NPC threads. One for Specialist Davis and another for Carol.

[So busy with keeping an eye on his own crew, Sanji completely misses the fact Aang is also on the draft until he happens upon him sometime later at the camp. He hasn't gone out to fight yet; rather, he's decided his services are better suited to keeping as many of the Lucetians well-fed and well-stocked as far as provisions go.]

Oi, Aang. This your first draft?

[Aang's sitting on a crate, considering what the draft he could have in store for him, but he looks up when he hears Sanji's voice. He's already somewhat anxious, but a friendly face helps him to not focus on that.]

Hey, Sanji. It's my second actually. I... I was on the moon.

The... moon? [Yeaaah, Sanji didn't go on that one and so is a little out of the loop. However, this being Luceti, he accepts Aang's words as complete truth]

Aah, in that case... [He drifts in closer] I'm sure you'll be fine.

[He nods quietly.]

Thanks, Sanji. I'm glad you're confident in me. I've been in battles back home, too. I'm just... I'm not as experienced in this kind of battle like Sokka or Katara are.

And what kind of battle do you think this is?

One where people can be hurt in more ways than I would have thought back home. One where the enemies can't be tricked easily, and they... they only want us to take them out the most permanent way.

[A soft, quiet hum]

... You've never killed before? [He's uncertain. Katara and Sokka used to tell him plenty about Aang, but smaller details such as this? Either he's forgotten or it wasn't necessary to explain]

N-no. At least... not as myself. It's... kind of complicated. [And he's always hesitant to mention the Avatar State, although he does see Sanji as trustworthy.] But my people, the air nomads, they raised me to respect all life and believe it's all equally important. So I've done everything I can to get by in the war back home wi- without doing that.

[Same principles as Vash then. Sanji can just guess all the ways this will turn problematic in a place like Luceti]

So what will you do now? [He doesn't point out that abstaining from murder is far more difficult than giving in; Aang probably already knows]

I... I do what I can. The way I fight is mostly about avoiding and evading, anyway. I can focus on keeping myself and the people around me safe. And I can... My bending can incapacitate them, too. And I just have to... leave it up the people around me to decide what to do with the enemies. I can't judge them for that. [He winces slightly, remembering Sokka stabbing a Cultist right too close to him for comfort.]

[And already, Sanji finds Aang to be much more sensible than his other friend. He spares a loose smile despite the grimness of their topic. He reaffirms his previous statement.]

Yeah, you'll do alright out there. [Glancing outward] Shitty battles are never pleasant, but the important thing is to survive.
