It's Pancake Day!

Who: Anyone and everyone!
What: A feast of pancakes in honour of Shrove Tuesday.
When: Tuesday February 5th
Where: CH7, ground floor
Summary: Truly a feast day second only to Christmas!
Rating: PG/PG-13 for language if someone gets burned on the stove or hit by exploding magical pancake batter.

All of the ingredients have been gathered and are laid out when Max finally gets up that morning. More eggs and milk and flour than he's ever seen in one place and maybe he'd gone a bit overboard with it, but he didn't know how many people would be showing up. It wasn't as though they could use the rest of it some other time.

[Since Kouki does live on the second floor, it would be hard for him to miss the festivities and the delicious, pancake-y smell once he step outside. That, and he saw the notice on the journals.

With a smile, he glance around, taking in who is here, before helping himself to some pancakes.

A young demon king wearing cat ears-like headphones is chowing down on food. Nothing big over here.]

[Not one to leave anyone feeling left out, Max spots the newcomer and when there's a fresh batch of pancakes ready, he sets a plate of crepes down next to him.]

[After swallowing the piece of pancake he's eating, Kouki looks up at Max and nods with a smile.]

Yep. I think these are some of the best I've tried.

[Well, doesn't that just make Max grin. He isn't even sure if they're pancakes he made personally, but he will take the credit for a good idea.]

Glad to hear you're enjoying them. I like to bring a little pleasure to the world.

[Even if they're not made by Max, he still appreciate it.]

One pancake at a time. [Sometimes, simple is best.] And having this is a really good idea, since it helps brighten up the day.

It's pretty fun, yes. I'm glad I decided to do it. Can always use a bit of a distraction, right?

Right. [He nods.] It's easy enough to get bored or think of a lot of things around here.

[And relaxing before Valentine's hit them.]

[abjurer]

Yeah, I bet. I'm used to always having something to keep myself occupied with.

[de_bel_survivor]

I normally have a lot of stuff to do back home, so I was rarely bored. [Fighting a war tend to do that.]

[abjurer]

Same, yeah. Business to run and all. Magic to do.

[de_bel_survivor]

Business? What kind of business?

[abjurer]

I own a magic shop. It takes up a lot of my time.

[de_bel_survivor]

A magic shop? Cool! [So what if he's a demon overlord. He's still a human boy at heart. Sometimes.] Like tomes and trinkets?

[abjurer]

Pretty much. Lots of trinkets because it pays the rent, some more powerful stuff if I know you aren't going to blow yourself up.

[de_bel_survivor]

I never really get a chance to handle magical trinkets and things. [The mistletoe one doesn't count.] What's the most interesting, powerful thing you've got?

[abjurer]

Mmmm, you want me to pick just one? I've had a couple of soul blades through. A few very old, very powerful magical tomes.

[de_bel_survivor]

Just pick one, because why not? [He's not much of a swordsman, so the magical tomes got his attention.] What kind of magic can those tomes do?

[abjurer]

Oh, that makes it so much harder. There's a lot of cool stuff.

If a book is old enough, a book of different spells and stuff, then the magic kind of... seeps into the pages themselves and it becomes more than just a book. Seen books that can do all sorts of things.

Which makes it a good challenge.

Oh? Like acting as if they're almost alive?

[abjurer]

Something like that, yeah. They'll find spells for people, but the spells the books want cast, not necessarily what the caster wants.

[de_bel_survivor]

...Wouldn't that cause a lot of trouble? Since the books cast spells they want, not the caster wants?

[abjurer]

Yep. That's the problem. Sneaky things, books are.

[de_bel_survivor]

Hopefully, none of your customers give you trouble over it. Or an earful or two.

They know what they're getting into. Or if they don't, it's their own fault for not doing the research properly.
