Luceti Valley - The First Log

Summary: Luceti has become an idyllic and peaceful 50s-esque village. The first few days are just business as usual, right?

August 1st had seemed like an ordinary day in Luceti. But late in the evening, for those night owls who had not turned in yet, they were witness to strange fluctuations in the barrier. Beautiful, really, almost like Luceti had received its own 'Northern Lights', even though it seemed to come from the far east, across the ocean. This ominous light show lasted for all of fifteen minutes before it ceased all together. Skimming the ocean waters, a horde of cultists entered Luceti, cloaked by darkness. Upon reaching the entrance to the tunnels, their leader stepped inside and was followed one by one by his fellow cultists. When the last had entered, the tunnel entrance closed. Across the mountains, the entrance to the tunnels in the village did the same.

Midnight passed without incident, but by three in the morning, the change suddenly came. Minds were altered, forms were changed, and buildings sprang from nowhere.

Much later, on August 2nd, morning settled on a changed village, the new mayor made his way to his mansion with his pair of adorable dobermans at either side of him. The sun shined bright. It was a good day to be a Lucetian.

Note: There will be a stand alone log for the homecoming dance. There will be another log for the second stage of the event.

Day 1-5

Day 1-2

[The average, ordinary day in the life of Shikamaru Harukawa. After kissing his wife of three months goodbye he busses to work at the Malnosso Textile Factory.

Leaving her and around the neighbors and passerbys near his lowtown home, he has a smile on his face. On the bus, it's long gone. The look in his eyes can only be described as dull, and when he steps out in front of the factory it's with a heavy frown. He's not sure what he's looking forward to less - the hard, ten hours of work to come, or dealing with the strikers.]

Day 3

[An average ordinary day-- or not. It's a surprise for Sakura, but with a lot of finagling, Shikamaru managed to get the day! He keeps up the act of going to the factory anyways, complete with dirty work clothes, not wanting her to catch on to what he has planned for the night. He is Secret Agent Man.

This leaves Shikamaru sneaking around town for the day. First he visits his mother, and sees if there's any errands he can help her with. Later he goes into town, stopping to pick out a nice suit and dress, as well as order some flowers. After school lets out, he heads that way to see if he can corner one Uzumaki Naruto for a solid.

In between all of those things, he ends up with a lot of time on his hands, so. He hangs some with friends, some with relatives... and eventually gives in and heads on over to Hightown. Specifically the Stark Residence. According to Aunt Nel, he has a sister or something.]

Day 4-5

[Back to the grind. After, he might be found snoring on the bus, having slept past his stop. Come Day 5 though, once that's all done, he's once again hunting down his father, but for far less amiable reasons. He saw the tax hike, and he's pissed.]

[Shikamaru isn't the only one with the day off. A lone blind man walks a familiar route to the grocers, cane tapping in front of him. He's already completed some shopping, a small bag slung under one arm.

As he hears someone else approaching, he steps aside to get out of the way. In the process, however, one of the handles of his bag hooks on the end of his cane, causing some of the contents to spill out.]

Ah...

[Itachi bends down, feeling along the ground for a case of pencils.]

[Upon rounding the corner and seeing the blind man, Shikamaru had moved to give him a wide berth only to be surprised when Itachi was quicker than he was. Maybe he heard him?

Something falls from his bag a moment later, but it seems the fellow's ears aren't as sharp when it comes to placing dropped items. Rather than go on his way, Shikamaru steps back over to him.]

I got it, mister. [He moves to the other side of Itachi, where the case fell.] Just don't step left on me.

Thank you. ...My apologies.

[Itachi takes the case from him, carefully returning it and a couple other items to the bag before rummaging around in it to make certain everything is there.

It's a bit embarrassing, sure, but sometimes these things can't be helped. He's had to swallow his pride more and more lately.]

Day 1

[She returned from Tony's party late with Fayt, but if she knew her stupid brother, he'd not bothered to tell his OLDEST child about the existence of this new child of his, so she was going to call her favorite nephew and take care of it herself.

She knew she was probably waking him up, and she hated that, since he was working so hard after his impetuous marriage with Sakura. But she knew that she should break this news before he found out another way.

So, she was in her bedroom, holding the phone receiver as it rang at Shikamaru's house over in Lowtown, waiting for the young man to answer, or his cute wife.]

[Oh it's been a long day. Work, and then he got invited to the pizza parlor by his old football team. It was nice seeing them, but by the time he and Sakura get home, he's wiped.

He'd been lying in bed for no more than fifteen minutes, pleasantly starting to doze, when the phone rings. He groans into his pillow and reaches out, blindly fumbling for the receiver. After three tries, he manages to grab it and bring it to his ear, rolling over to mumble into the other end.]

...hello?

Sorry to wake you, kid, [And she is. He sounds like he needs to sleep for a few days, but she wants to let him know too.] but I have some news for you that can't wait. I don't know if you're stupid father will tell you or not.

Day 3

[ Things have hardly settled down at the Stark homestead, and the head of house in question has had just about all he can take of inquiring relatives and neighbors. God, was it really too much to ask for not everyone on Lake Catheria to know about the new addition to their family?

So he's not particularly enthusiastic when he sees his firstborn at the door. ]

...Afternoon, Shikamaru. Uh - what brings you around? [ He gets that uneasy look in his eyes he always has around this son. ]

[Shikamaru had been, in spite of himself, admiring the sparkling lake outside of the Stark home. This is far from his first visit, but the view never fails to impress.

The door opening startles him, however, like a deer that's heard a twig snap. He recovers quickly when faced with that look, shoving his hands into the pockets of his dye-stained uniform with a bored expression. For fun, he ignores the question.]

Well, well. I get the man of the house to answer his door instead of the butler? My berries are razzed.

[ Tony only just keeps himself from an eyeroll. ]

Damage control. [ And that's all the explanation he gets for now. ] Since you seem to have missed it the first time - what brings you around?

3rd!

[Makie had her doctor's appointment on the morning of the 3rd, which she had likely mentioned in passing. (Or as casually as she could, anyway.) It seems she's still not back when he knocks on the door. Either that or just not answering. She was also taking the car in for servicing today, so...

...if he lets himself in, though, he'll find his mother sprawled on the couch and apparently taking a very heavy nap.]

[endgames]

[Ever since the doctor's gave their diagnosis, he's erred on the side of caution. His mother's likely just out still, but just in case not, Shikamaru lets himself in with his key anyways.]

Mom? [No answer. Not too concerned, he still takes a tour of the house that doesn't last long at all when he spots her there on the couch. Brow furrowed, he steps over quietly to check on her. Is she all right?]

[Reassuringly, Makie wakes up when Shikamaru gets close enough he could reach out and touch her. One eye opens sleepily for just a moment to register his presence, then she shuts it again, voice a little muzzy from sleep.]

You're here early. [...or did she sleep late. Cursed comfortable couch. She reels upright.] Sorry. It was meant to be a few minutes.

Day 3

[It's usually fairly easy to pinpoint Naruto's whereabouts on any given day, so it shouldn't take Shikamaru long. Once Naruto spots his old school buddy he stops whatever it was he was doing, smiling as he wanders on over to him.]

Hey, Shikamaru! What brings you up this way?

Naruto, good buddy. [He walks over, holding up his hand for a high five. The 50's aren't cool enough for fist bumps.] Couldn't it be I just missed seeing you?

[He says in that sing song note that hides nothing.]

[Vash knows he should be upset at the men who had taken their jobs. It was making it harder for him and his coworkers to go back to work. Yet, he just can't bring himself to hate anyone. He just wasn't that kind of guy to hold a grudge against someone doing the best they could to live.]

Hello, there-ah, Shikamaru right? Good luck today. [Vash today is dressed in some old blue jeans with a dark plain t-shirt. His long hair down around his face. He's got a picket sign slung over one shoulder as he tries to give Shikamaru and some of the other scabs what he hopes to be is a friendly wave.]

[Vash sticks out like a sore thumb here. Not just because he's one of his mom's ex-boyfriends, but he's one of the few people in the crowd not jeering.

Shikamaru, having always made a point of getting to work early since the strike, has some time to stop and talk.]

Not that I'm complaining, Vash, but you have to be the most backward heckler this place has seen.

Day 5 IMMA START THIS NOW

[ Shikamaru won't find his father at home this time. Tony is actually at his office, but Shikamaru shouldn't have a hard time getting in. Stark name or not, the personnel still knows who he is.

When he reaches Tony's office, he'll find him pooling over a handful of executive orders he has to put through before closing time. He's definitely not in the mood to be interrupted. ]

OKAY COOL

[Well TOO BAD, because someone's not waiting quietly. Looking noticeably more haggard than last they spoke two days ago (and probably sporting more than a few fresh scrapes), Shikamaru pushes the door to the office open with enough force to make the knob crack against the wall.]

DAY 2

[Ino's off to visit her sister again when she spots Shikamaru leaving their humble home. Again, she's carrying some bags with her, though less in number than the previous day. Like yesterday, she's dressed in garments that albeit simple look expensive.

If Shikamaru's smile disappears once he boards the bus, Ino's vanishes whenever he sees her brother-in-law.

It's not like Ino hates him. It's more of the fact that her little sister is making ends meet because she married him. Always had been opposed to their union, Ino had no choice but to concede once she saw how Sakura loves him. She's still a little irritated about the whole thing, though, and it shows.

Approaching him, Ino gives a greeting.]

Off to work, I bet?

[Ugh. In-laws. The bus isn't here just yet, so unfortunately Shikamaru has time to chat. It's not easy to miss her irritation so he responds in kind, voice lowered just in case Sakura can hear them from inside the house.]

Where else would I be going?

Day 3

[ Tenten immediately opens the door for Shikamaru without much hesitation. He was a close friend of Naruto's and a friend of Tenten's. The man who had helped Naruto through all of those years of schooling definitely deserved some support. ]

Shikamaru! Hello! What can I do for you?

[ OOC: Either he's stopping by to visit her or to ask for Naruto? either or is fine with me! ]

Hello, Tenten. [He greets her with a warm smile. Naruto's family is as much like his own.] Your husband skunking around the place?

Day 3

[ Flora spots Shikamaru as he makes his way through town. She gives a smile and does her best to wave, but it's a little difficult given the awkward pile of manila envelopes she's toting around with her. ]

Shikamaru, hello! You've the day off, I take it? [ Given it's the middle of the day, it's a reasonable assumption to make. ]

Flora! [Watching for traffic, he crosses the little street towards her. It's been too long since he's seen this familiar face.] You got it in one. It sure is a fine day for it.

[He nods to the envelopes.] What've you got there?
