Luceti Valley - The First Log

Summary: Luceti has become an idyllic and peaceful 50s-esque village. The first few days are just business as usual, right?

August 1st had seemed like an ordinary day in Luceti. But late in the evening, for those night owls who had not turned in yet, they were witness to strange fluctuations in the barrier. Beautiful, really, almost like Luceti had received its own 'Northern Lights', even though it seemed to come from the far east, across the ocean. This ominous light show lasted for all of fifteen minutes before it ceased all together. Skimming the ocean waters, a horde of cultists entered Luceti, cloaked by darkness. Upon reaching the entrance to the tunnels, their leader stepped inside and was followed one by one by his fellow cultists. When the last had entered, the tunnel entrance closed. Across the mountains, the entrance to the tunnels in the village did the same.

Midnight passed without incident, but by three in the morning, the change suddenly came. Minds were altered, forms were changed, and buildings sprang from nowhere.

Much later, on August 2nd, morning settled on a changed village, the new mayor made his way to his mansion with his pair of adorable dobermans at either side of him. The sun shined bright. It was a good day to be a Lucetian.

[It's a nice day, and Yuuna has decided that she was going to drag Saori for a nice walk around Historic Luceti that day. She'd grabbed a few water bottles for the two of them, walking lazily next to her wife and enjoying the sun shining down on her, appreciating the day for what it was.

She knew things in the town weren't perfect, but that doesn't mean the two of them couldn't try to have a perfect day. And what better way than to just spend some time together taking an hour or two to themselves.]

I can't believe how much Luceti has expanded since it was first built. This used to be the entire town right here, can you believe that? It's practically going to have its own suburbs in time.

[The young aristocrat was all too happy to be dragged out for a nice walk with her wife. In fact, it's unlikely she'd have said no even if she had been busy They were hardly newlyweds, but after two years they'd managed to remain as close as they'd ever been in college. Never a heated romance, but one full of love and compassion, the two things that mattered most in a relationship anyway.

Arm in arm, they walked through the historic township, Saori pointing out various interesting bits of architecture. She liked old things, and traditional things and Historic Luceti was full of those. Even if it wasn't always a happy place since the strike...]

Oh absolutely. It's really rather nice and it just keeps getting bigger. Far, far nicer than Hightown. If...it wasn't for Hinata and Neji, I'd say we should buy a house here. It would be nice, being away from Father again. Like when we met...

Your dad is such a stick in the mud. I think it would be really nice if we moved over here. I mean, why not? Hinata and Neji will be ok, we wouldn't be all that far away anyhow. Plus look, see that cute house right there? I think that would be perfect. [She points to the little home on the corner. She'd love to have that house.]

It could be like when we met. Just without all the parties. Though I still wouldn't mind having people over every once in a while for a nice round of drinks.

[Her dad is more than a stick in the mud, and he's never had a problem giving either of them the rough side of his tongue. Saori smiles sadly as she looks at the house. It was nice, and buying it would be a simple thing. But...she couldn't just leave Neji. Not after what'd happened to Barnaby. And definitely not after her conversation with Hinata.]

It's a lovely little home, but darling, you know I can't. If I leave, Father will focus all that bad energy on them rather than me. You remember what I was like before I met you and Makie. Imagine Hinata with all that pressure?

[She squeezes her wife's hand and shakes her head. She can't and won't, abandon her siblings.]

[She smiles, but it's saddened- she knew they couldn't leave. Even suggesting it as a joke didn't lighten the mood. They'd have to endure living with Saori's father anyway, no matter how much Yuuna would love for them to get out on their own.]

Maybe we can bring them with us... [But she sighs, that would never fly either and she knew it.] I know. It's just so unfair. I love Hinata and Neji too, and I wouldn't want them to have to deal with that. Sorry, it was a really bad joke, I guess.

[Saori shakes her head and slips an arm around Yuuna's waist. That wasn't fair to her, to just...shut down the dream like that. But the idea of taking them with them isn't totally lost, it does jar a memory]

No, you're right. It isn't fair, but maybe there's a way we can start our own life away from Father. They'll be going off to college in the fall, and I seem to recall it being quite a long drive. I think...[She smiles more warmly now.] that we could buy a house then. They'll be spending summers there, surely, so I can't see a reason we'd need to stay. Can you?

[She does want to get out too, it's just a matter of timing]

[She smiles back, that's true. They were going off to college soon. And when a teenager gets out like that, they're very adamant about staying out. Which means the two of them might be looking for an apartment or something, meaning they wouldn't have to deal with their father- yeah, it would be fine.]

Nope. I can wait until then to get a house. I don't even want a big one Saori, a small quaint one is just fine, the large mansion is just too much for me sometimes, as nice as it is. Then we can decorate as we want, it'll be perfect. [The idea of it makes her so excited.]

[windandrain]

I know you don't, I don't either. The house is far too large...and I think that the only reason it is that large is to satisfy Father's ego.

[She leans in, grinning wider at the idea. Oh this was exciting! They'd have a house all to themselves soon, and it'd be just perfect. No overbearing father, and Barnaby could come by whenever he wanted. And decoration...new furniture, and their own little love-nest.]

It will be! Our very own little bungalow, right? With a big porch and...oh, can we have rocking chairs?

Why wouldn't we? I want a hammock in the back too so I can read outside, and a decent sized yard for people to come over. A pool would be nice too, but not inside, because that just means we'd have to have a huge house...just a small one in the backyard, I think that would be nice.

Now I can hardly wait, maybe we can start planning for it already! But we'll have to hide it from your dad for a little bit, won't we? [She's still not too sure if he would get angry at the idea of them leaving. She doesn't really like talking to him much.]

[windandrain]

Well I think that's all something we can have arranged, yes! And a pool would be nice. You look good in a swimsuit, after all. [She nudges her wife playfully]

And I don't think we'll have to. He'll be glad to see the back of us. Me especially.

[sun_showers]

Well good, because I'm afraid I'd ruin it and let it slip. [She nudges her back with the compliment.] And you don't look too bad either in one. I know it's one of the more beautiful things I get to look at on a daily basis.

[windandrain]

Nope, all we have to do is be patient.

[She blushes and looks away for a moment, though she holds on a bit tighter. Those little compliments where what'd helped build her up into the competent woman she'd become, instead of the nervous wreck from that first year of college.]

How did I ever get by without you? You and Makie are the only reason I made it this far.

I'm sure you would of managed! I don't think you give yourself enough credit, Saori-chan. [She shoots her a sly grin, yeah, she used that name again, whatchu gunna do.]

[windandrain]

[That gets a sidelong look] Yuuna-chaaaaan [Fake whining!]

I don't know about that, but you know how I feel about that name in public! [Lowering her voice...] But in private...I want to hear it more often.

What? I like calling you that, public or not! Maybe I'll use it more often, I'll have to think about it~

[She can't help but tease.]
