Luceti Valley - The First Log

Summary: Luceti has become an idyllic and peaceful 50s-esque village. The first few days are just business as usual, right?

August 1st had seemed like an ordinary day in Luceti. But late in the evening, for those night owls who had not turned in yet, they were witness to strange fluctuations in the barrier. Beautiful, really, almost like Luceti had received its own 'Northern Lights', even though it seemed to come from the far east, across the ocean. This ominous light show lasted for all of fifteen minutes before it ceased all together. Skimming the ocean waters, a horde of cultists entered Luceti, cloaked by darkness. Upon reaching the entrance to the tunnels, their leader stepped inside and was followed one by one by his fellow cultists. When the last had entered, the tunnel entrance closed. Across the mountains, the entrance to the tunnels in the village did the same.

Midnight passed without incident, but by three in the morning, the change suddenly came. Minds were altered, forms were changed, and buildings sprang from nowhere.

Much later, on August 2nd, morning settled on a changed village, the new mayor made his way to his mansion with his pair of adorable dobermans at either side of him. The sun shined bright. It was a good day to be a Lucetian.

Note: There will be a stand alone log for the homecoming dance. There will be another log for the second stage of the event.

[Once she gets home, she'll find her pops outside. He's sweaty and exhausted as ever, but he's having his one smoke of the day. It's more than he can already afford, but it's the only time he gets to de-stress from the hardships of the day. As he spots Crystal coming up the path, he gives her a nod.]

School go okay?

[kickingcatcher]

[She gives her father a wave as she walks up to the house, giving her dad a quick hug. She does dislike her father smoking, but it's his decisions, so she always chooses to let it be.] Pretty good. We had a pop quiz in math today, but I did well. And then there's a dance coming up, too. How was your day, papa?

[snikting]

[He returns a half hug, balancing his cigarette far away from her while he does.]

Same old. They still ain't compromised.

[Which meant he had little money and what little money he was going to give the girls wasn't going to make for very nice dresses. Hearing Crystal mention it was disheartening for him. He knew how it important it was for all of them, after all.

So instead, he did as he usually did with his girls and mussed with her hair, putting on a faint smile instead.]

But good on you for the quiz. Maybe we'll have ya start doing the bills and give yer mom a break.

[kickingcatcher]

I'm sorry, papa. [Times have always been tough, but she always remains hopeful of a light at the end of the tunnel. Nothing is ever grim forever.] I have some money saved up, if we ever need that.

[She did want to save it for her dress, but family is way more important than some stuffy old dress for a dance. She could always ask her sister or mother for something. The hair mussing makes her face scrunch up, but she grins regardless.] Thanks! If you ever want me to help with bills, I'd be glad to. It'd be like extra practice.

[snikting]

[He shakes his head.]

There ain't no need to go chippin' money in, half pint. Me and yer mom's got it handled. It's just the mathin' that could use some help.

[... barely. But that's not for her to know.]

[kickingcatcher]

[At her offer going to waste like that, she can't help but pout (maturely!) at that.] I'm not a little girl anymore, I can help.

[She doesn't completely understand all that's going on, but she has a basic idea. What she does know is her family could use the extra money, and she's not going to do anything useful with it.]

[snikting]

[He shakes his head.]

Shouldn't you be puttin' that money towards yer dress? That big dance is around the corner.

[kickingcatcher]

[She crosses her arms, determined to get her point across.] I think our family is more important than some silly old dress.

[snikting]
