Luceti Valley - The Second Log

Luceti Valley continued in its own merry little way. The rich got richer, the poor got poorer. A new tax hike had ensured increasing animosity between both groups, despite the protests of the every charitable Lord Mayor. But on the sixth day, something happens and people begin to notice things are unusual. Idle thoughts that if thought about too much is bound to get you a visit to the police station for an hour or so. Or worse, it may just get you committed.

Meanwhile, the asylum continues to gain more and more patients. Those that are trapped there will find escaping difficult, but there may be more to this place than they first assumed...

On the tenth, battle breaks out across Luceti Valley. People begin to exhibit powers and abilities they didn't know they had. The police begin rounding up these people to lock up. If they resist, its bound to come to blows. Even though no one has regained their memories of their true self yet, it becomes apparent that some trickery is afoot, even if they might not know the source or why.


Note: This is the second log! There will be a third and final event log for the aftermath. There will also be two separate logs specifically for finding John and defeating Zompano. For those of you that signed up, we'll be randomizing the results and replying to the selected characters later tonight. In the meantime, keep enjoying the event! [Day 6]

[Today's the day. At long last. He and Belle are going to find their mother who left them so long ago. It seems they've finally found her. Aang's so hopeful that this time it will work.]

[Days 7-8]

[Aang is deeply troubled; he skips out on work at the farm and spends more time on the streets. It's not just the unsettling confrontation with his mother. Things feel weird and scary. He keeps remembering those doubts that were planted in his head by Zuko. How does he know that Belle is his mother? What if he doesn't really have family here? Still, he finds some odd solace in roaming the streets by himself, like some sort of nomad.]

[Days 9]

[Things seem odd for another reason - he sees more and more police on the streets, and people being taken away. He'll do what he can to help anyone who knows. And it's when trying to help a certain 8-year old girl whom he knows that he discovers that he suddenly has power over air. During reprieves between battles, he'll just marvel and take comfort in this power without really understanding it.

Later on, he is most likely strong armed into the zoo liberation front by Korra. He'd avoided the zoo in the past because of how that odd furry giant creature's behavior had unnerved him and made him feel so incredibly guilty. But he takes the risk. Something's now telling him that it's the right thing. That animal especially needs to be free.]

[Day 10]

[Things continue as usual - for the first part of the day Aang is riding his newfound giant friend around to do what he can to help with the various efforts. But late in the day, something happens: his dear friend Bolin takes a hit for him in some way. Aang's emotions drive him into a state unlike anything else - his eyes glow, and he becomes all rage, using unbelievable and awesome powers to lash out at enemies and possibly even others around him.]

Day 9 helping instigate a break out

[Marco hasn't given up hope, but he's getting nervous. It's too much to navigate. People are getting their strength back, but not their memory and he doesn't have his haki under control. Hell, until today he couldn't even speak! So he doesn't expect anyone to believe him.]

[So when he sees Aang...]

[He's wary.]

[Aang isn't someone he wants to get in trouble with the police. He doesn't know enough of their world to trust the kid to handle a place like this swarming with soldiers and cops and this requires subterfuge.]

[And frankly? That is not Marco's forte. This is why he has brothers.]

[Okay. Make or break time.]

[Marco follows Aang until they're alone and then takes the chance with speaking up.]

Yo.

[Sup man?]

[Yes. The peacock just spoke.]

Day 9

[That peacock just spoke. Aang is startled and immediately jumps back.]

Ah!

Sorry for scaring you Aang. [Gestures to the zoo in general.] Try not to yell, eh? I'm trying to avoid being caged and if they think I'm being a pain in the ass they'll try again.

Is this the part where I ask how you're doing, or should we get straight down to business? [All this is obviously reassuring.]

About time. I couldn't talk all week, and I haven't been able to switch back to human either. And I'm honestly not sure how much time we have.

There's a shift going on so everyone is acting crazy and they don't remember themselves. Memories got replaced. Maybe identities too. It's happened before, but not like this. [That he knows of.] There's a large presence of haki -- [Oh wait Aang wouldn't recognize that.] Think like strong life force and mental presence. It might have something to do with it, but I don't recognize the person.

I'm a phoenix, so I know strange things. [Fastest rundown he can do. And he's still in word-dump "info" mode just in case he suddenly goes back to speechless. Being stuck having everyone treat you like a pet for a week does things to your desire to talk a lot at once.]

Whatever you do, avoid the police. [This is just normal Marco paranoia advice though. A healthy distrust for authority goes hand in hand with being a pirate from a world where the government is virtually omnipresent and destroys islands and killed some of his family. And proof that it is paranoia:] And the rich royals might be in on it too, I can't tell. I couldn't get close enough to them before I got dragged back here and not enough of them visit the zoo for me to tell, but they seem to be the ones profiting most from this screwiness.

[He is SO suspicious of the rich and royals thanks to the nobility from his own world being the type to buy and own slaves, and you know... Marco being caged and seeing people dragged off makes him think slavery not insanity. Everyone is insane in One Piece, so asylums aren't really a thing.] I don't suppose you have a newspaper on you or anything? It's hard to get one around here that hasn't been peed on.

[lasthairbender]

[He just stares. And stares. This is the freakiest thing he's seen all week.

And he does a quick head shaking at the question.]

No sir. Mister... Phoenix. I don't have any newspapers with me...

[Only all week?! Marco's slipping.]

Pity.

You may call me Marco if you'd prefer. [A head tilt.] Actually I'd prefer it, yoi.

Aang. Are you... Have you been happy in this new life? ["New" might be a bit of a stretch since it wouldn't seem new to anyone else, but Marco is worried. If he's the only miserable, if all his friends prefer it like this, would it be too selfish to demand everything go back to the way he thinks is right? Much like Ace's departure from the crew, the freedom of it is significant. Then again, no one chose this stupid life. At least not that Marco can tell. So fuck that. Still, it'll help isolate out those who are ready to revolt.]

Marco. Right. ...Hi.

[That's a deep question, talking bird. Who knows his name. Give him a moment to think it over.]

I don't know what you mean by 'new'. This was always my life. [Even if everything felt odd, disjointed.] But... I am happy. Good things have been happening. At least... before things got scary.

[It is by mere chance that Adam happens to spot Aang in a part of Lowtown. He cocks an eyebrow - this is, her brother, isn't it? Doesn't he work on the farm with her?

... Or, is he her brother? He hardly looks anything like her...

Nonetheless, if he is, he should... probably go over and say hi, shouldn't he? Or maybe he should anyway, even if he weren't.]

Oh - hey! [He turns quickly and gives a meek wave. That's Belle's rich boyfriend, isn't it?]
