Birthday wishes

What: Rin's Birthday
When: Dec. 27th
Where: House 15, in the living room
Summary: Shiemi is throwing Rin a birthday party. She's doing most of the setting up, but Rin was kind enough to cook for his own party. We don't want Shiemi killing anyone.
Rating: PG-13 at most I think.


Plants and heat lamps litter the living space of House 15, but they're all decorated in Christmas style. Baubles and shiny tinsel-like garland hand from bushes that range from fruit bearing to thorny. What might be most notable is that Mistletoe can be found almost everywhere. Shiemi saw people kissing under it a couple times, and despite it being a poisonous plant, if people really liked it that much then it should be at the party! The girl collected a lot of it, so people are bound to run into it! Feel free to get your grub on with Rin's homemade dishes, give out some kisses, or brag about the presents you did or did not get the Son of Satan.

[Pilouette doesn't even notice the mistletoe at first and is unaware that he's even stuck. She's wanted to try and be more casual with her friends and she figures this is a good time to start. Intending to emulate one of his own actions, she quietly walks up, unknowingly gets right under the plant alongside him and gives him a light slap on the back.]

Hey! Um, having a good birthday so far?

[rashness]

[ Which makes him jump just a little - but then he smiles and turns to face her, grinning ear to ear ] Hey, Pilouette! How're you doing?!

[ribbonbon]

[She grins right back at him, bouncing a little.]

Oh! Um, I'm doing okay! What about you? I mean, it's your birthday! It's always a little exciting to get a little older, you know?

[rashness]

It's... pretty exciting to have everyone hang out here. [ He says this a bit over-carefully. He doesn't want to get older here. Or apart from his little brother... ]

Seems like it! It's pretty nice...!

[Even if she doesn't live there, it's kind of nice to be in a house bustling with people.]

This must be a pretty exciting time of year for you, though. I mean, Christmas, then your birthday and New Years is in a few days. It must keep you busy, huh?

Eehehe. Yeah. Lookin' back, I think Father Fujimoto tended to kinda mix Christmas and our birthdays together. Like the cake we'd get tended to have Santa and reindeer on it.

[ Which he didn't realize was odd until an embarrassingly long time afterwards. In fact, it makes him sound nostalgic ]

[Pilouette can't help but smile at that. Even if it seems a little strange, it still sounds really nice.]

Well, it sounds like you didn't mind it much. But...you said "our birthdays." ...Was Father Fujimoto's birthday around that time, too?

[rashness]

[ Oh. He really shouldn't take it for granted that people know- ] ...Nah, my brother's. Yukio and I're twins, so we got the same one.

[ribbonbon]

Oh...!

[Ah, she's learned something new about him today! Her smile grows just a little wider.]

It must have been kinda fun having a sibling to like, share your birthday with, huh?

Yeah! When I was young, it was pretty annoying, but ... we really got used to the whole thing.

[ribbonbon]

I can understand that...Like, when they're little, most kids don't really like sharing anything much less a birthday.

[After a moment, she pulls her cellphone out of her pocket and flips it open.]

Hey, can I like, get a picture of the birthday boy?

[rashness]

[ WHOA. ]

You were going to take a picture- I mean, uh, sure! We can do that!

[ribbonbon]

Alright! [She grins and starts to raise her cellphone up.] Okay, say chee-...Huh?

[She had tried to take a step back to get a better shot only to realize that she's kind of...stuck. She makes another brief concentrated effort to step back again to no avail. Frowning, she looks toward her feet.]

Like, what's the deal...?

[rashness]

[ What? Is she stuck, but that could mean!! He tries to move away too and- he can't. He looks up and there's a - sprig... ]

A...oh...

[ribbonbon]

[She looks up at Rin, then follows his gaze upward and freezes. Oh no. OH. NO.]

That's...That's, uh...Uh! M-Maybe if I just try a little harder...! That might work, right?!

[She looks down at her feet again and starts trying as hard as she can to will herself to move out of that spot.]

[rashness]

[ Um. He tries to shift too, and he also narrows his eyes and considers if he could burn that. He's not sure if he could, but... That might damage the house. ]

Can you manage it?! I can't-

[ribbonbon]

[She's stopping just short of actually grabbing her legs and pulling on them. She frowns.]

Nope. I'm like, totally stuck...! Geez...!

[She takes another nervous glance up at the mistletoe.]

[rashness]

I'm really stuck too, so... I guess we're just stuck now.

[ :( Well okay not :( but he is uncomfortable ]

And to get unstuck...

[Pilouette doesn't really want to say it, but she knows. She'd noticed the mistletoe around the village and had been carefully avoiding it. However, she hadn't counted on it being put up inside at Rin's party. She crosses her arms and glances off to the side.]

[rashness]

Yeah. [ ... You know what if he just tries to make this less awkward? He will try to make it less awkward. And walk over to her to put a hand on Pils's shoulder ]

[ribbonbon]

[Unfortunately, awkward is Pilouette's middle name. His hand on her shoulder makes her tense up a little. After all, this is a whole new experience for her and this isn't how she imagined it going. However they don't have much of a choice. Plus, she knows Rin. At least she didn't get stuck with some stranger, right?

After a moment she uncrosses her arms and looks up at him, her face just a little flushed.]

[ No, he'll try to play it cool despite briefly recoiling and flushing up probably as bad as her. And then he inhales, exhales, and leans down to kiss her, briefly on the lips. Just a light thing to try to get it to break out ]

[Pilouette leans forward to meet him part way and soon feels her face growing warmer as she feels Rin's lips press against her own. Even if it's only for a moment, it seems like much longer. She's not even sure if she's doing this right.

After a second she pulls back, suddenly aware that she had been holding her breath. She exhales, her expression turning sheepish.]

U-Uhm, was that...uh...
Did it...

[She still feels a little bit awkward, but less so than before.]

[rashness]

[ And when they are pulled back his face is somewhat like this. Flushed, tilted back some, and with his lips pursed as if he was still kissing or something. The problem is that his eyes ended up opened awkwardly wide as he pulled back. He rectifies this after a moment but -]

Y-eah.

[ ... So poetic ]
