[Kari's been all around the festival so far, enjoying the familiar atmosphere -- festivals were much more commonplace back home than they were here. And as much as she'd like to go the traditional route and wear a yukata, it'd just look awkward thrown on over her uniform (not to mention it's not even summer yet), so she'll have to forgo it for now.]

[But she's starting to get a bit thirsty walking around... maybe she should get some more of that hot chocolate? She still hasn't tried all the varieties yet--]

[And wouldn't you know it, she gets in line right behind Fenimore!]

Hey, Twin-tails! How's it going?

[Twin-tails.......]

[She turns before it really registers what she'd been called. But -- yup, looks like Hoshikyo's talking to her.]

Did you forget my name or something?

[The question is asked mildly, without even a hint of being annoyed. She lives with someone who nicknames everyone under the sun, so she's pretty sure she's hearing a nickname come into being.

...Come to think of it, had she introduced herself in the first place? She assumes she has, since they've talked more than once, but it's possible that she forgot entirely and thus Hoshikyo mightn't even know it. Hmm.]

[Even if she didn't get the official introduction, in a village this size, it's easy enough to figure out someone's name.]

Aw, come on, who do you take me for? I'd never forget the name of a beautiful girl!

But do you remember mine? Fe-ni-more-chan? [She says, emphasizing every syllable -- almost as though testing out a new nickname. She's pretty particular with them, after all.]

[Fenimore smiles a little at the "beautiful" comment. She knows she's pretty, but she likes being reminded, even if the comment registers on the "this person probably says this to all the girls," rather like most of the things Masaomi says.]

Hoshikyo, right? You're a hard person to forget. [Not many people she knows sparkle.]

Besides, even if I had forgotten, your name came up when I was talking to a -- friend last week. I'd have to have a pretty bad memory to forget it this quickly.

[The hesitation before "friend" is quite brief. After some things that happened this week, she's not sure whether friend is still the best descriptor of her relationship with Rei, but she hasn't actually asked about it. February -- or the first few days of March, to be safe -- is not the best time to talk about romance.]

[She'll take that as a compliment.]

Oh, really? I didn't know I was so popular! [Said with a tone that says actually yes as a matter of fact I do ~~even though she totally isn't~~.]

I just hope your friend had good things to say about me?

[Fenimore giggles at the tone, but doesn't comment on it.]

Of course she did -- or are you saying that there are bad things you've done that you don't want me to know about?

[She's kidding. Oh, and now she's at the front of the line, so she just grabs a cup at random, distractedly.]

Oh, not at all! But I've got my reputation to think about, you know. I can't let the general populace go around thinking their local magical girl is getting herself into some kind of trouble or something.

[Being right behind her, Kari goes ahead and does the same -- hot chocolate is hot chocolate, right? It all goes down sweet in the end.]

[Unless you have luck like Kari and just grabbed a cup of Aztec hot chocolate. Which she did.]

[Fenimore giggles.]

I guess so. You don't have to worry, though. She had nothing but good things to say about you.

[She takes a sip of the hot chocolate. Huh. She didn't realize that hot chocolate could be spicy. Oh well, it tastes good and does a fine job warming her up.]

Though -- don't take this the wrong way, but I still have a little trouble getting used to the idea that magical girls are a real thing that I can meet. I mean, I'd never heard of them back home, but I found some manga about them in the library, and I'm pretty sure those ones are fictional.

Well, it is a pretty common trope in the media. They exist as fictional things back in my world too! I'm kind of a big deal back there. You know. Since I'm the only one. [Technically.]

[She takes a nice big sip too -- ah, the spiciness feels like and warm on her tongue! She wasn't exactly cold to begin with, but if she were, this would certainly hit the spot.]

But hey, if you ever want to hear more about magical girls, I'm more than willing to share! I mean, as long as you don't ask about my identity. That's a tightly-kept secret!
