Day 4

[risingwinds]

[WHOOSH!

It's hard to miss Ven the way he's zooming around on his Glider. Clad from head to toe in armor, he's stayed largely on the defensive, keeping his eyes out for familiar faces.

Now, granted, Gold was another volunteer, but far be it from Ven to leave his friends in the dust. When he spots him and his Pokémon from above, he shoots down, driving the edge of his Glider into the back of a Third Party soldier's head.]

Man, these guys just aren't letting up! You holding up okay?

[mischiefbreeder]

[Gold still envies you and your ability to ride that Glider, Ven. But he's got a Togetaro he can airsurf on now, it's okay.]

Yeah, no sweat. This is a piece of cake here! [He says that, but this is honestly one of the most difficult drafts he's been on.]

[risingwinds]

Sure you're not just bluffing?

[He grins, driving his Glider to a stop temporarily. His grain then fades, not that his face can even be seen beneath his helmet.]

This place is a lot crazier than I thought it'd be... I guess I should've expected that after they called us in, but still.

[It's alarming, not to mention unsettling. Death and destruction lingering all around...]

[mischiefbreeder]

I had a feeling things were gonna be bad from that first announcement, but this is just insane out here! [He heaves a sigh. What a pain this all turned out to be.]

[risingwinds]

Just another day in Luceti-- or Zompania, I guess.

[...]

That sounded better in my head.

[He stops abruptly when a shadow passes overhead. Of all the times to still be airbound... Ven sighs, hopping to the ground and changing his Keyblade back to its normal form.]

So, you up for a little damage control?

[mischiefbreeder]

[He goes to readjust the cap on top of his head, while also pulling down his goggles over his eyes.]

Can't say I'll be doin' much to control the damage I'm causin'!

[He extends the cuestick now, and pulls out Explotaro's pokeball.]

[risingwinds]

Then how 'bout we kick this off with a bang?

[Ven leaps back. The air heats up as flames swirl around the Keyblade's tip-- and just in time, too, as their enemies swoop down for the attack.]

[mischiefbreeder]

That just so happens to be my specialty! [Gold grips his cue tight, fire beginning to flow through it thanks to some filial magic. He releases Explotaro onto the ground, and hops down from Togetaro back, onto Explotaro's back.]

Let's heat things up, alright? [He then has Explotaro charge straight through with a Flare Blitz, using his filial magic to channel some of the excess fire around his cue which he uses to make direct contact with one of the Cultists to engulf him in fire and take him down. Few can survive such intense flames, after all.]

[risingwinds]

[Ven whistles and flashes a thumbs-up once Explotaro emerges. And fire on the cue? Hey, even better. Nodding, Ven twirls his weapon. If Explotaro's going all out with fire, then who's he not to do the same?

An explosion of fire erupts overhead, complete with a brief, glaring flash. His Mega Flare attack is sure to charbroil any stragglers... The downside? That level of flashiness is sure to attract more attention.

A foot soldier that manages to survive swoops down with a blast of water magic. Seems they just can't take the heat!]

[Reacting quickly, Gold recalls Explotaro back to the ball. He's not sure what sort of damage water magic would cause to Explotaro compared to your typical water-type attack, but he doesn't care to find out. As a result, he himself takes the full brunt of the spell instead. The spell doesn't have as much of a effect as it could have, due to the ambient fire magic he'd used negating much of it, but it's enough to knock him to the ground.]

[risingwinds]

Gold!

[A sharp gasp escapes Ven. He shoots a short glance at the cultist, hurling his Keyblade into a Strike Raid before scrambling to his side.]

Hey, you okay?

[He extends a hand, offering to pull Gold back on his feet. If necessary, he'll fling a healing spell at him for good measure.]

[mischiefbreeder]

Heh... [Gold takes the hand and pulls himself back to his feet.] It's like water off a Psyduck's back to me! [It's funny because he just slammed in the back with water. Haha. It's a joke.]

If you think that's enough to bring me down... [He turns his attention to the cultist, who's reeling from Ven's previous attack still.] ...Then you got another thing comin'!

Togetaro, Double Edge! [He sends out the Pokémon, who unleashes the attack faster than Gold can call it, ramming into the Cultist with such intensity it sends him blasting off agaaaaaiiin flying backwards.]

[risingwinds]

[Ven whistles as the cultist rockets backwards, flashing his friend a thumbs-up before skidding to the side and hurling his Keyblade like a frisbee. The weapon crashes into a cultist's gut and slams them agaisnt a window. Ven follows this up by kicking up off the ground ans bashing the cultist's chest with a Quick Blitz attack.

Green light races down from his head to his toes as Ven shifts into his Fever Pitch command style. Another cultist dives down, hurling fireballs on the way, and Ven shoots a glance at Togetaro.]

You think he might be able to blow out those flames with his wings?

[mischiefbreeder]

Well, it's worth a shot! You heard the man, Togetaro! Work your magic! [Truthbetold, Togetaro's forte was head-on attacks, but who's to say it couldn't pull off distance moves? Togetaro's wings begin to glow a bright light blue as the wind around them swirls around, before being launched in a powerful gust that dispels the flames and blows away the fireballs.

It was a move Gold had never even seen before, so he's pretty astonished by it.]

[risingwinds]

[And Gold's not the only one. The second Ven spots that wind, he drops his weapon and stumbles back, rubbing his eyes. Words cannot describe what he has just seen. There is only one thing to say.]

That was so cool!

[Well, if Togetaro's gonna do cool wind tricks, clearly it's time to join in the fun! Eying another diving soldier, Ven scoops up his weapon and launches a small whirlwind at its face.]

[mischiefbreeder]

[It takes all Gold has to not let his jaw drop. He has to remind himself they're in the heat of battle and to focus on that.

An idea strikes him, as he lets out Aitaro, and the two of them hop onto Togetaro's back.]

Aitaro, start building up Agility. Three stacks worth! [And then he shouts across the battlefield.] Hey Ven! Keep these guys busy! I've got a surprise comin' your way! [Which may not have been the best of ideas to announce it like that, as those cultists are now turning their attentions towards him.]

[risingwinds]

[Luckily, Ven's attentive enough to catch that, and he dashes out in front of the cultists, thrusting his Keyblade over his head. A sphere of magnetic energy swells up above, sucking the cultists in and hurling them in circles. With the cultists temporarily trapped, he looks to Gold.]

You think this'll keep 'em busy enough?

[mischiefbreeder]

I think that'll do! [Two stacks... and three stacks!]

Alright, go for it, Aitaro! Use Baton Pass... on Ven! [Rather than having Aitaro pass the speed onto Togetaro, he directs it to Ven, the purple monkey running over to him and tagging him on the back before returning to the pokeball. He actually has no idea if this would even work. No one's tried to pass onto humans, but Ven's got superpowers so why not??? Enjoy the quadrupled speed, Ven.]

[risingwinds]

[Ven's... not really sure what happened, so at first, the tap makes him jump. 'cept it's a very quick jump. ZIP, he's up. ZIP, he's down, annnd...]

Gold, I dunno what you just did, but this is so cool!

[So awesome that he's gonna zip over to one of the cultists and start blasting off some speedy Strike Raids. The soldiers sucked into the magnet continue swirling around, wide open to enemy attacks.]

[mischiefbreeder]

Just call it a buff! Now show 'em what you're made of! [Which Gold is also going to do, sending out Explotaro and calling out an Eruption attack and launching it right at that magnetic sphere.]

[risingwinds]

[Heat and magnetism brought together into one? Suddenly the sphere burns bright like a supernova, burning their enemies black.

Before attacking, Ven gives Gold a thumbs up gesture. Then he dashes off to another target, hops up, and slams his Keyblade down, creating a sharp ice crystal.

With that last hit, his body glows bright blue. Six glowing blades surround him, three on each side. Now that he's triggered Wingblade, it's only a matter of time before they clean up shop.]

[Recalling Explotaro, Gold flies up high on Togetaro now, surveying the nearby area to make sure they haven't missed any. All seems clear, aside from the ones Ven is dealing with now. Ven seems to have it under control, so he stays where he is and lets him finish up.]
