All days
He's been doing well to make up for his lack of eyesight with various other methods, some involving the elements and some involving pure chakra. If working with water to clean, a fine mist might surround him infused with his chakra. Using fire for sensory techniques isn't optimal, so he's been focusing on water a lot more with the help of the associated filial spirit.
The ninja doesn't have a lot of raw physical strength, so he leaves a lot of the heavy lifting to others. He's also still not the best at small talk and comfort, making him not the best option to help put some of the survivors at ease - not that he doesn't offer a few kind words now and then.
Some of the items found, the books and whatnot that are marked for them to be rid of, he takes interest in. The books especially have earned his curiosity, and he's hidden some away to bring back to the village for study. He'll have to deal with them carefully, and hopefully they won't bring any trouble along with them. These thefts will be subtle, and only a certain pirate will be told of them.
In the evenings he will stay near the medical shelters, offering help to Law and the rest of the medical team where he can, though his own skills in magical healing are still woefully lacking.]

A baby only a few months old.
Do ask how this one managed to happen. Because Law's not sure himself.]
no subject
Well, when a man and a woman love each other very much...Itachi takes a moment to stare in the baby's direction, listening to it, before he tilts his head back up toward his husband.]
Not yours, I take it. [So dry.]
no subject
Not unless we decide to smuggle her back with us.
[Because otherwise she'll stay in Pagoda or be taken by the Malnosso. The latter, he hates to admit, might be better.]
Both her parents are gone. They just found her a few hours ago, hidden away in a basket. Don't know who was caring for her after.
She's doing pretty good, all things considered.
no subject
[The last time he'd held a baby... Well it's been some time.]
Is she going to be in your care for now, or is there already someone else willing to look out for her?
no subject
[He literally doesn't have time to do much of anything in regards of setting up a caregiver or inquiring further about her history. Not with people dying on him.]
People are taking turns with her on their off times. She gets fussy when she's not held, so... here we are.
no subject
Itachi's Sharingan activates as he looks over the baby's chakra. Nothing out of the ordinary there.
He makes no move to offer to hold the child himself.]
This is a terrible environment for an infant.
no subject
[He offers her a finger to grab as he settles in a chair. She snatches it with a strength that is surprising.]
... perhaps the Malnosso will do with her like they did with Noah and Jonah and move her to a foster family.
[It is the better thing. But even as he speaks the words, there is hesitance. It might be the better thing, but it's the Malnosso. Is it the best thing?]
no subject
[Children are a tough matter to deal with in this world in general.]
Giving her to one of us means she runs the risk of having her new parents disappear like theirs did.
no subject
[The pirate sounds suddenly tired as he slumps a little. Long day.]
Longer you're in the world, the less likely it is, but... it's always possible.
no subject
[It's a subject he thinks about every day, what will happen if one of them is sent home. They've been here a long time, but it still feels inevitable. He can't live his life as if he might disappear the next day, but that doesn't keep him from thinking about it.]
no subject
[A slight tweak to that train of thought.
Law both knows he'll go home and at the same time has little hope of it. He's been stuck in place for nearly four years without ever briefly returning. Itachi... he's experienced his loss twice. He knows the ninja has been in and out of Luceti more than his husband remembers. Losing him would be the worst pain - pain he wouldn't trade, because he is more than worth it.
What truly terrifies Law is the thought of him leaving Itachi first and what that would do to the man.]
Poor girl. ... I don't even know her name.
no subject
[And they didn't know who those people were, unfortunately.]
She may have to be given a new one.
[Also unfortunate.]
no subject
[For Corazon.]
Until I find out differently, I'll just call her Cora.
no subject
Do you know if there were any others that young?
[It's not pleasant to think about.]
no subject
[He looks away from the child's face.]
If there were... they're likely in Zompania. I saw...
[Law abruptly shuts up. Itachi knows what he saw. He was in that city too.]
no subject
Itachi stands now, slowly, and walks over to Law's side. He holds a hand out in the direction of the child, allowing her the opportunity to notice his presence.]
no subject
Want to hold her?
no subject
He says nothing, near-blind gaze settled on the baby's swaddling.]
no subject
[That's a no, then. Cora for her part makes a disappointed sound, and Law immediately rocks her a bit to try to hold off a crying spell if it's coming, making shushing noises.]
It's okay.
[He's probably speaking to both of them, really...]
no subject
[This isn't something he should be avoiding. It's just a baby. He isn't doing to break it if he holds it. It making contact with him isn't necessarily going to doom its existence.
He closes his eyes with a sigh.]
no subject
Don't beat yourself up too much partner.]
no subject
Then he holds his arms out for the child. He's can do this.]
no subject
Law watches as Cora grabs a tiny fistful of Itachi's shirt once he has her. She's a strong little girl - good thing it's his shirt and not his hair (he sees that as a possible baby magnet).]
There. She looks comfortable.
no subject
The face he sees belongs to a boy, black hair already sticking out every which way, expression content as he's held. He hears his own voice in his ears. Don't worry, Sasuke. Your big brother will look out for you.
His eyes close again and he exhales shakily. It's just a little girl. Unrelated. Someone's baby his husband is looking after. He shouldn't be thinking of the past.]
