[Much like last year, the rec center is decorated and freshly cleaned, with a plethora set up throughout the main floor. Each set includes a small table and two chairs facing each other. Along with number plates to help direct people to their partners, there is a small pile of coloured paper cards, stacked down, and pencils on every table.

Further back there is a collection of couches forming a lounging circle, as well as a couple of tables with drinks and snacks all set up and ready to be eaten. And yes, the fantastic rainbow cookies from the year before have made a reappearance. No doubt they'll disappear just as fast. The lounge area has a recycled sign from last year that says, "If you find yourself on a turn without a date, come hang out!", and this year, a new weird-looking potato man is hanging on the wall. ...But whatever.

All in all, the whole place looks ready for a big event, and when enough people have gathered - and the clock ticks to the agreed starting time - Teddy and Billy step forward to get things moving at last.]



Hey, hey! Announcement time here! Can everyone hear me? [...] All right, good!

So, some of you may remember this from last year. If you didn't come then, or if you're new, or happened to get roped into this by one of your friends, then on behalf of... uh...

[He glances down at Billy and, taking the cue, his partner speaks up.]

...We'll call the name a work-in-progress for now. Kurt says he's got it covered.

[His response is a raised eyebrow, because really, Kurt? But Teddy gets right back on track with a smile after that.] … Welcome to the second annualish speed dating event! I'm Teddy, this is my fiancé Billy, and we'll be your hosts for today. I know you just want to get started already, but unfortunately, we've got to go over the rules and stuff first. Everyone should have a list of numbers. When Billy gives the signal, everyone will head to the table with the first number on your list, where you'll either wait for or meet up with the person you're paired with. You'll both have five minutes to talk and get to know each other, for better or for worse, and leave with some sort of impression of them. Hopefully good, but can't win 'em all, right? After those five minutes, one of us will blow the whistle, and then you'll head to the table with the next number on your list. Repeat steps one through whatever, until we've reached the end! Hopefully by then, you'll have a new friend, a potential date, or hey, you might have just met the new love of your life!

[Teddy looks to Billy then, who speaks up next to him.]

The tables have conversation cards, in case you're not sure how to get things rolling, or if you're feeling shy- it has topic ideas, questions to ask your partner, whatever we could come up with. As you go through the list, try to give a little 'yes' or 'no' to the people you speak to- yes for wanting to see them again, no for it not being a good match. Once it's over just hand in your papers and we'll let everyone know - discretely, of course! - who gave and received a mutual yes. You don't have to wait for us, though- if you hit it off with someone really well and you both want to hang out right away, don't let us stop you. We have games and stuff set up over in the lounge area-

[He gestures to aforementioned lounge, complete with couches, a couple of tables, a stack of assorted games, and a snack and drink table.]

-Or you could just sneak off to keep yourselves entertained. We don't judge.

We totally do judge, just so you know.

[Billy elbows him. Gosh, boyfriend, behave.

Teddy just laughs a little, waving his hand as if to dismiss a joke.]

Okay, okay, we don't. Anyway, that's about it. We're going to give everyone one minute to get to the first table, then we'll blow the whistle and let everyone start. Thanks for coming, have a great time!

[They go back to sitting at their host table, and then, after the minute passes and everyone's settled, the whistle is blown. BEGIN!]

[Jean is excited for this little get-together event. Unlike many people there, Jean willingly and happily signed herself up, no prodding needed. After Scott's departure, she's been dwelling more than she cares to. Obviously, no one can replace Scott, but a distraction would be nice.

So! Here she is. She's dressed up in a nice lilac coloured blouse paired with a short, dark purple skirt. Her red hair is at peak wavy-full-bodied-ness, thanks to the joys of being a telekenitic, and she is all warm smiles for anyone she happens to meet.

She offers a hand, in way of a handshake, to go along with that warm smile. ]

[Hi Jean, have a broody teenager who doesn't really want to be here. His arms folded and a grumpy frown on his face.]

[Jean clicks her tongue, and makes a sympathetic face. Or, it would be sympathetic, were it not for the smallest of smiles she can't help but sport.]

I'm sorry to hear that. Did one of your friends sign you up for this?

[ A hand on his chest, and he meets the handshake- but puts a flower into her hand as well. A Peony ]

It really, really is! [She chuckles, and accepts the flower with a pleased] Oh! How lovely! Thank you! ... Do you have an entire bouquet of these to hand out to all the ladies?

Yeah, you caught me. I thought that I should honor people's resolve a bit.

[ With a little wink. ... In flower language (Japanese, anyway) this one refers to bravery and courage, albeit in a masculine way - he's being a bit ironic ]

[Sorry Jean, he sees that offered hand but... he's just staring at it. In fact, his arms remains crossed while trying to enjoy the evening. The android gives a shrug with a simple smile. AT least he's keeping it civil.]

Eh, it's alright. First timer and all.

[She'll just go ahead and retract that hand after it becomes clear that he's not going to shake it. Oh well, different cultures have different customs, and if there's one thing Luceti isn't hurting for, it's different cultures.]

Mine too. I thought it might be a fun way to get to know some new people. I'm Jean, by the way.

[Steve accepts her hand with a firm shake, a polite smile firmly in place. He's made enough partner changes by now that he's able to relax and make small talk without feeling too awkward.]

Yeah, actually. More than I thought I would. I'm usually not very good at this type of thing.

[Jean is pleased to see another smiling face. Especially one as handsome as Steve's! ]

Oh, no? Well I'm glad you decided to come out, today, then. I'm really enjoying meeting everyone! Speaking of which, I'm Jean.

I just figured it couldn't hurt to put myself out there, meet some new people. [He hadn't participated last year on account of having a girlfriend. And he's not exactly looking for romance this time either. But the idea of meeting some new potential friends is hard to pass up after losing so many people close to him.]

It's nice to meet you, Jean. I'm Steve.

[Sokka comes over with a rather happy grin. At least he thinks things are going well today. It's certainly better than the King's Game, all two rounds he got to play of it. Anyway, Sokka takes Jean's hand and shakes it firmly.]

So far... I think. I think today is going well.

I'm Sokka. I don't... think I've seen you around at all.

I'm glad to hear it. [Jean is pleased to receive a good handshake, finally. Not that she would ever judge people so harshly, but if she were the kind to, she would award Sokka bonus points for it.]

I'm Jean. I... may have seen you, in passing? But we've never spoken, no. [She agrees.] I'm glad we're speaking, now, though.

[Sokka hmmms for a moment as he sits down opposite Jean.] It's quite possible, I suppose. I keep forgetting how many people are here; it's hard to go out and say hello to everyone. Still, I agree it's good to finally get acquainted.

[The first part is always the hardest. Sokka has never been good with introductions.]

So, uh, I'm the son of the chief of the Southern Water Tribe in my world. But, uh, for the past few years I've been traveling the world with my sister and friends.

[A series of flower petals rain down from the ceiling - followed by a Rock Lee, who manages to land right in his chair and smiles at her. She's definitely beautiful!]

Good afternoon, Miss! I am Konoha's Beautiful Green Wild Beast, Rock Lee! Would you like to be charmed?

[Jean yelps, slightly, in surprise, when Rock Lee rockets down from the ceiling. He definitely caught her by surprise. She stares, wide-eyed, for a moment, before clapping her hands together, and laughing. ]

Indeed! Wow! That was quite the entrance!

Did you really think so?! [He says with a beam.] I am delighted to make that impression! My name is Rock Lee. I am Konoha's Beautiful Green Wild Beast!

[Riku happily takes the handshake before settling down. It helps with some of his anxiousness. Plus, her positivity's incredibly infectious. Hopefully she doesn't mind bats, though, because this loser's got one perched on top of his head.]

Yeah, so far, so good. Can't think of a better incentive to go out and socialize.

[Because he's not Sora, and sometimes it's tough to step outside his comfort zone.]

It is definitely as good a reason as any to meet new people. [Jean agrees. She eyes his little tag-along hair buddy, but opts not to comment just yet. It's maybe a little spooky looking, but the bright colouring helps, plus his blasé attitude towards it.]

[For what it's worth, the bat is wearing a ridiculous smile. It's like a Lisa Frank drawing made real, complete with bright and clashing colors.

Rather than draw attention to his companion, Riku opts to keep his focus on Jean. Socializing, that's what this whole thing is about.]

Tell me about it. And the fact is, I've done a lousy job lately. Kinda been stuck in a cycle, but I'd like to change tat.

[He pauses.]

Anyway, I'm Riku.

[It's always been a well-known rumor that redheaded women are the sexiest women. Until now, Gold never paid much attention to that story. In his world, people came with all sorts of different hair colors, some natural and others dyed, and he never paid much attention to the correlation because their sexiness and their hair color. It just didn't seem like they were related.

But that changes once he sees Jean. This is one damn fine lady sitting here, after all. So... maybe there's some truth to that old rumor.

He takes a seat across from her, returning that warm smile with one of his own.]

Well, I've gotta say, this is a pretty sweet shindig they've got goin' on here!

Indeed! I've been having a lovely time, so far. It sounds like you are too. [She smiles, openly at her new seating companion. It's refreshing to have another person who's happy to be here to talk to.]
