[Much like last year, the rec center is decorated and freshly cleaned, with a plethora set up throughout the main floor. Each set includes a small table and two chairs facing each other. Along with number plates to help direct people to their partners, there is a small pile of coloured paper cards, stacked down, and pencils on every table.

Further back there is a collection of couches forming a lounging circle, as well as a couple of tables with drinks and snacks all set up and ready to be eaten. And yes, the fantastic rainbow cookies from the year before have made a reappearance. No doubt they'll disappear just as fast. The lounge area has a recycled sign from last year that says, "If you find yourself on a turn without a date, come hang out!", and this year, a new weird-looking potato man is hanging on the wall. ...But whatever.

All in all, the whole place looks ready for a big event, and when enough people have gathered - and the clock ticks to the agreed starting time - Teddy and Billy step forward to get things moving at last.]



Hey, hey! Announcement time here! Can everyone hear me? [...] All right, good!

So, some of you may remember this from last year. If you didn't come then, or if you're new, or happened to get roped into this by one of your friends, then on behalf of... uh...

[He glances down at Billy and, taking the cue, his partner speaks up.]

...We'll call the name a work-in-progress for now. Kurt says he's got it covered.

[His response is a raised eyebrow, because really, Kurt? But Teddy gets right back on track with a smile after that.] … Welcome to the second annualish speed dating event! I'm Teddy, this is my fiancé Billy, and we'll be your hosts for today. I know you just want to get started already, but unfortunately, we've got to go over the rules and stuff first. Everyone should have a list of numbers. When Billy gives the signal, everyone will head to the table with the first number on your list, where you'll either wait for or meet up with the person you're paired with. You'll both have five minutes to talk and get to know each other, for better or for worse, and leave with some sort of impression of them. Hopefully good, but can't win 'em all, right? After those five minutes, one of us will blow the whistle, and then you'll head to the table with the next number on your list. Repeat steps one through whatever, until we've reached the end! Hopefully by then, you'll have a new friend, a potential date, or hey, you might have just met the new love of your life!

[Teddy looks to Billy then, who speaks up next to him.]

The tables have conversation cards, in case you're not sure how to get things rolling, or if you're feeling shy- it has topic ideas, questions to ask your partner, whatever we could come up with. As you go through the list, try to give a little 'yes' or 'no' to the people you speak to- yes for wanting to see them again, no for it not being a good match. Once it's over just hand in your papers and we'll let everyone know - discretely, of course! - who gave and received a mutual yes. You don't have to wait for us, though- if you hit it off with someone really well and you both want to hang out right away, don't let us stop you. We have games and stuff set up over in the lounge area-

[He gestures to aforementioned lounge, complete with couches, a couple of tables, a stack of assorted games, and a snack and drink table.]

-Or you could just sneak off to keep yourselves entertained. We don't judge.

We totally do judge, just so you know.

[Billy elbows him. Gosh, boyfriend, behave.

Teddy just laughs a little, waving his hand as if to dismiss a joke.]

Okay, okay, we don't. Anyway, that's about it. We're going to give everyone one minute to get to the first table, then we'll blow the whistle and let everyone start. Thanks for coming, have a great time!

[They go back to sitting at their host table, and then, after the minute passes and everyone's settled, the whistle is blown. BEGIN!]

[As Eleanor sat at her assigned table listening to Billy and Teddy explaining how the evening was going to go, she was already beginning to regret having signed up. Even if it had been her idea, and she had managed to convince Wanda to come, she was rapidly realizing what a horrible idea it was. She wasn't social! She didn't know how to date!]

[Still, she was here now. It was too late to run away, right? And she had gotten dressed up (as much as she dressed up) in a shimmery black ankle length swishy skirt and simple soft violet blouse. She had even tried her hand at some light makeup she was pretty happy with.]

[As the announcement finished and people began moving around, she picked up her number card and fiddled with it, turning it over in her hands a few times before she put it down and forced her hands into her lap, looking up as the first person approached her. Okay. She could do this!]

Hi.

[And Zuko will be coming over to sit down. He doesn't look like he wants to be here either. But when he notices that it's Eleanor, be blinks once, his frown fading a little. He already knows her.]

Uh... Hi.

Oh, hi.

[She echoed herself in her surprise, since she did know him already.]

...Zuko, right?

[Suddenly she wasn't sure if knowing him made this more awkward, or less...]

Yeah... Eleanor right?

[He fidgets a little, also not sure if this is more awkward or not.]

So... It's been awhile.

[She indicates the seat opposite her.]

You can sit down, you know.

Hello to you too. [ He says this with a wink and smiling, tossing back his hair a bit from his very flashy outfit, and also handing her off a flower from the bouquet he picked up to take apart for his dates here. ] The pleasure's all yours, I'm sure... but wait, that'd mean I wouldn't have a good time, so that can't be true!

[ And he laughs at his own introduction joke ]

[At this rather unique introduction, Eleanor can't help but laugh. Although whether he's laughing at his joke or at him, well...that's not entirely clear.]

Have a seat. [She says after a few moments, when the laughter has passed.] I'm Eleanor.

He waits for her to accept his flower, but then he does. And he puts a hand on the table, arching his fingers up a bit as he responds: ]

[Eleanor takes the offered flower, smiling inspire of herself at it.]

Are you giving flowers to everyone you're paired with, Masaomi?

[She couldn't help but be surprised.]

[Well. There's a pleasant surprise! He feels more comfortable around Eleanor, so he's less awkward in greeting her.]

Eleanor! Hey. That's some outfit! [He gives a loose thumbs up and puts down the tray of rainbow cookies he brought with him.] Cookies?

Kurt! [Eleanor brightens up some at the familiar, friendly face. She could handle Kurt, he wasn't a surprise or confusing. Well, no more confusing than any other boy, probably. Although the compliment was enough to make her blush a bit, and she quickly focused on the cookies and not his face.]

Yes, thank you. [She plucks a cookie off the tray.] Have you been having fun tonight?

Yeah, I guess I have! [He might just be ignoring some embarrassing incidents.] This set-up's not too shabby this year, if I do say so myself. How have you been doing?

...fairly well, I think? I'm not really sure, I mean, I've never done this before. [She just shrugs.]

Everyone has been friendly and nice, at least.

[It's Loki's turn to talk to someone, so led by his seeing-eye human Jack, he comes to Eleanor's table. There, he sprawls comfortably in a seat while Jack sort of hangs out non-intrusively and probably won't interject.]

Hello. Eleanor, yes?

I do believe we've spoken a bit before, if memory serves.

[Eleanor couldn't hide her surprise at seeing Loki appear at her table. He had seemed a bit too...well, she wasn't sure. She was just surprised.]

Ah...yes. When that giant owl took over the library. It is nice to see you again?

[Hopefully, anyway.]

Ah yes, the idiot bird. He hasn't given you any further terrible, has he? [Loki hasn't been to the library much recently. He can't read most of the books, after all.]

A lovely chance for us to speak on more pleasant topics at least.

[She smiles faintly.]

[Steve is also fiddling with his card as he comes over, not quite knowing what to expect. He's never had the greatest track record with dates even though he tells himself he's not here for that kind of date.

When he finds himself at the right table he gives her a glance over and smiles politely before taking his seat.]

Hello. My name is Steve. This is my first time at one of these. What about you?

[The teen looks up (and up) at Steve when he approaches her table, and she can't help but be a bit embarrassed. Good heavens.]

Ah...it's my first time as well. [She admitted with a little bob of her head.] I'm Eleanor. Do...you want to sit?

Yes, thank you. [He takes his seat across from her after stuffing his card into the pocket of his jeans.] It's nice to meet you.

What do you think of it so far? For me, it's not quite as nerve wrecking as I thought it would be. [But only just slightly.]

It's nice. A bit...unsettling, though. And talking to so many people is starting to feel exhausting!

But I am enjoying myself, I think.

[Familiar faces are always a welcome sight at an event like this. Ginia takes a seat across Eleanor and offers a friendly smile, a message quickly typed up and read by the phone.]

That's a very nice outfit. The color of the blouse looks good on you.

[Eleanor has gotten used to waiting while Ginia writes what she wants to say, she just offers her a smile and a small wave when she sits down, instead.]

Oh...thank you. I wasn't really sure, I had to guess. I was afraid it looked silly.
