Timey-Wimey Nonsense Part 1

Who: Everyone!
What: The Time Travel Trip 2014
When: HUNDREDS OF YEARS AGO
Where: Luceti before it was cool Luceti
Summary: The residents are dragged into the past thanks to John's latest Shift. More information is here and here, and, ICly, here.
Rating: Varied

It's early morning in the quiet enclosure that will someday become Luceti. The sun is rising, birds are chirping in that annoyingly cheery way that makes you want to shoot them out of the trees, and the residents are beginning to wake up. Most of them are heading to work, either to farm, or to build, or to work the shops, or even just to prepare a nice breakfast for their families and neighbours. Everyone has something to do.

And then, out of nowhere, a couple hundred strangers show up in the middle of the woods.

At first there is confusion, and no shortage of caution, from the neighbours; newcomers are common enough, but usually they are announced beforehand, and never in such great numbers. The leaders of the town are called in to ask questions. The newcomers are free to explore, but any aggression will be met in kind; if need be, the Filial of the past will defend their homes. They're hoping it won't come to that, however. You're stuck with one another for a long time, after all.

Thankfully, there is one man who might be able to bring the natives and newcomers together: Tyr.

...And the other guy, maybe. We'll see.

((mingle and explore at will! further questions can be redirected to either of the posts linked above. NPCs will be available for plotty stuff soon.))

[Oh great. The forest. On her own with basically as much stuff in bags as she can possibly carry, since she feels responsible for the welfare of...well, everyone in the house, but mostly people who aren't Walter. She expects Walter can look after himself pretty well. Grune might land on her feet because that's what happens and also she has a lot of people who would help her? But Sophie. Sophie needs a lot more stuff than she can be expected to carry. ...This is going to be a long walk.

Fenimore eventually comes across a rustling tree a few minutes in to her slog (unbeknownst to her, she's walking in the wrong direction). Thank goodness white and blue and blond stick out in trees.]

...I'm glad I at least landed on the ground.

[The familiar voice underneath his feet comes as a surprise to Walter, so focused on orienting himself to their somewhat new surroundings. He frowns and averts his eyes downward, carefully crouching on the branch he's standing on to look at Fenimore.

Her comment kinda flies over his head. He hadn't landed in a tree, after all.]

So you're all right. Where's Sophie?

[He'd already concluded that finding Grune would be more trouble than it was worth; the woman would find her way into the village sooner or later.]

[She wonders why he's just crouching. Is he stuck up there? Anyway, she pats the bag she carries her journal around in with one hand.]

Grune eventually replied when I called for her over the journal. It was kind of hard to ask in case anyone from around here could hear any of it or...break those lock things, but it seems she and Sophie mostly stayed together. And she landed on her feet, as usual -- I could see a building in the background. She should be able to keep an eye on Sophie for...a few minutes, at least....

[Not that she really wants to leave Sophie in Grune's forgetful hands too long.]

...It's good to see that you're okay, too.
blackteriques: (Such a brooding expression)

[He makes a noncommittal sound at Fenimore's response, reaching out one hand to steady himself against the trunk of the tree before dropping down to a lower branch.]

Good. Sophie's smart, but I don't trust Grune to not get them lost in the forest.

[His gaze goes back down to Fenimore as he assesses the drop.]

I know that you can handle yourself well enough.
blessingone: (we've been sitting here for hours)

[Is it kind of sad he trusts Sophie more than Grune in this situation? Probably. But she can't entirely disagree. She's at least a little glad he believes she can handle herself.]

I'd still prefer to have you around, at least until we get out of the forest. ...Did you see anything helpful while you were stuck up there?
blackteriques: (Steadfast gaze)

[personal profile] blackteriques 2014-10-13 08:57 am (UTC)(link)
[Walter blinks at the question, straightening on his perch with an offended huff.]

I could somewhat see the village in the distance. And I was not stuck up here.

[As if to prove it, he glances down once more to ensure he's not going to land on Fenimore before dropping all the way to the forest floor.]
blessingone: (did you doubt the curve of the earth)

[personal profile] blessingone 2014-10-13 11:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, I thought, since you were up there so long....

[It seems that way when you assume he started up there when they got sent back.]

Anyway, I'm glad you were able to see that much. I wouldn't want to wander around in the forest, especially with all of this.

[She may have overpacked a bit. She'd seen John tell someone about the lack of convenient grocery stores and the strain the sudden influx of people would put on the food supply, so she'd turned rather turtle-like with all her bags. She hopes she doesn't tip over, or else she doubts she's getting up again.]
blackteriques: (Even-tempered)

[personal profile] blackteriques 2014-10-14 06:13 am (UTC)(link)
[He hadn't really been paying too much attention to how much of a hassle Fenimore's packing would be; the short notice had left him looking around for anything he might need in a "survival" situation.

But now, standing there with her as she carried all of her bags, he sees just how troublesome all of her baggage are.]

I'm surprised you got this far with all of those.

[He'll go and walk over to pull out his own bags, which had been hidden from sight while he climbed the tree.]
