The moment the sun set Dru was up and about, waiting for her Spike to arrive. It had been so long since she had seen him, and she couldn't help but feel a bit excited about it in her own crazy way as she gracefully exited the house, wanting to feel the night air. In her arms, she carried one of her many dolls, a red ribbon tied around it's mouth as usual.

"You must be sure to behave Josephine or I'll have to punish you." She told the doll with a mellow, yet stern voice before looking out into the darkness to watch for her child. Of course, she already knew what direction he would come from.

It had been a long time since he'd last seen Dru. Even if time supposedly held no meaning to eternal beings like themselves, he could not help but miss his dark goddess. After all, you could not just write off a century of being everything and all to each other.

After dropping by Shiki's place for a quick measuring session (he needed that duster, damn it, if he ever got back to that apocalypse he was going to clock that bleeding dragon a good one for burning his favourite article of clothing), Spike quickly made his way over to Drusilla's place, the smile on his face growing wider when he saw her in the distance.

Spike didn't need to be asked twice. Taking her hand, he pulled her close and scooped her into his arms, spinning her around like he used to do when they were still together. No, he was no longer in love with her, but he still loved her. How could he not? She was the one who had given him this life after all.

"Hello, pet."

His smile faded a little. "Yes, we did," he replied. Everybody else didn't. Putting her down on her feet, Spike held out his arms, an invitation for a waltz.

"I don't hear any music though."

Still as dotty as ever, Spike grinned indulgently. Drusilla had always been mad. She was driven insane when Angelus turned her, so Spike never had the chance of meeting the sane version of his Sire. Not that it was important. Her insanity was beautiful.

Holding her close, much closer than what was socially considered as proper, he led her into a dance under the moonlight. Two creatures of the night, waltzing to a music that only they could hear: the three steps beat of history, romance and blood.

"What did they do to you, ducks?" Spike asked gently, still leading her in that dance. Angel had mentioned something about Drusilla having a pet human in this place, one that she wasn't planning to eat, sire, or torture. While that sounded all fine and dandy, Spike was still waiting for the other shoe to drop. Drusilla didn't have a soul, there was nothing stopping her from feeding--

Unless, Spike gritted his teeth as he entertained that horrible thought. Unless, they chipped her.

This place could even give you a soul?! Not for the first time, Spike wondered who the hell (or rather, what) had brought them here. All he had was a name, and the fact that they were here as experiments.

Just what were they up against?

"Did they do anything else?"

"And that will be..." Spike cleared his throat. "That pet human that you're keeping around?" Maybe falling in love with another human would do Dru some good, but after a hundred years of being with her, Spike could not help but feel that little green eyed monster tugging at his undead heart.

Death? Spike furrowed his brows. Himself excluded, his dark princess was pretty well known for bad taste in lovers.

"How so, pet?"

He pulled her close and pressed his lips against hers. She tasted of decadence and blood, a taste that he became addicted to a lifetime ago, a taste that he still loved.

"When can I meet him then?"

He hissed. Those who thought vampires couldn't feel pain obviously thought wrong. They could feel just fine. The only difference was that they had left behind the misconception that pain always equated to hurt. Pain, Spike had learned, was simply another form of pleasure.

Taking her hand, he kissed her fingers, tasting his own blood on them. "Anytime."
