(no subject)

Who: FFVI crew
What: Finding the not!esper
When: First day of bodyswapping (technically precedes his own post by a day)
Where: House 44 to the mountains
Summary: Setzer's pulled Terra's infamous move - now they have to get him back
Rating: Probably PG-13, if only for language

Locke was not going to say anything about being lucky to avoid the swap - considering everyone else around him had been, there was no way he was avoiding the effects. He'd deal with the unfortunate consequences of the Celes-Edgar swap later; right now it was way too important to find Setzer. He remembered Terra's flight and how difficult it had been to find her and revive her - if they needed to do it again, they needed to know immediately.

So he'd gathered his compass, a rough map of the area (copied from Jaffar's journal awhile back), rope, climbing spikes, and anything else that might help and raced back downstairs tying his bandanna on.

"Everybody ready?"

"I am." Terra was more than ready. She tried not to fidget but was obviously impatient to get going. Horror at finding herself in her friend's body paled in comparison to what Setzer must be going through at that moment. Her own memories from the time when she lost control were one big blur, but the overwhelming fear from that point was hard to forget. They would find him and calm him down...somehow.

She glanced to the others, clearly hoping there was no further need for delay.

Edgar nodded his confirmation. This whole thing, Edgar's first exposure to the experiments of the Malnosso, was simply surreal. It didn't seem any of them were happy with the results of this, and who could blame them?

Still, there were bigger issues at hand. Right now, they needed to focus on finding Setzer, where ever he was. Terra hadn't fared well when she lost control of her powers, and it was her own body. Setzer...

It couldn't have been good.

"I'm ready." This was definitely making the last experiment look tame, though that at least was far more entertaining overall. This was already appearing to be very dangerous indeed.

And yes, her and Edgar definitely would have a lot of things to deal with this week and when it was all finally over.

Terra tried to think of what Setzer might have done, but she couldn't think of a plan better than that, at the moment. She shook her head, disappointed that she couldn't give better advice as to how to find their friend. "Other than the general area of the mountains, I'm not sure. So...that sounds as good a plan as any." They just needed to hurry, she knew that much. The longer Setzer was trapped in that state, the worse it would be for them.

"Let's go."

Edgar had to agree with the others. Obviously Setzer's airship was nowhere near, and that was the only place Edgar knew of that the gambler had any attachment to.

"That sounds reasonable." It wasn't like they had a better plan.

Thinking of where he might go to instinctively actually did put a disturbing thought into Celes' mind. Setzer loved flying, in fact outside of the initial weirdness, he might like that part about being Terra for the week, because he could fly again. But the disturbing part was, what if he didn't land until he absolutely had to? He could be very hurt now.

"I agree. Setzer loves the sky, the mountains sound reasonable, if he has even landed yet."

She wasn't going to mention the thought she did have. No, instead she'd just make sure Edgar could help him. "Let's go. I think Edgar and I should take the rear so I can give him lessons on how to use my healing magic while we travel. It will save time and we may need it."

For the time being, the shock of finding herself in a body that wasn't her own, a body completely human (and male), was indeed preventing Terra from realizing Setzer's magic-deficient state. Given that she hardly needed one more shock piled on her -and a major shock at that- it was for the best. She seemed anxious and distracted enough as it is, wondering just what was happening to Setzer and her body.

What if he...no, they would find him, somehow. She nodded, following Locke outside. 'Setzer' would be unusually quiet, eyes on the sky though for a completely different reason than usual.

Edgar hung back as Locke and Terra walked out, so as to be walking next to Celes as they left. It would likely be important that he knew healing magic as soon as he could manage it; the only other one to have it would be Setzer, and if he was hurt...

He shook off the thought for now. Focus. "So what do I need to do?"

It was surreal, though, talking to himself. Heh. That put a new spin on the phrase...

Talking to themselves indeed. It was somewhat amusing, but there were definitely other things that needed to be dealt with.

And she had to push away any anger she felt about this situation. It wasn't Edgar's fault any of this happened, he didn't deserve to have her upset with him over what he couldn't control. Once this was all over and she had straightened things out with Locke, she'd definitely make sure Edgar understood that she wasn't mad at him she was just mad at being stuck in this annoying situation and she shouldn't have taken her frustrations out on him. Really, he was a good friend and one of the few who had accepted her without question from the start.

She looked over to Edgar. "It's not hard at all, and I'm sure you'll be able to figure out Cure before we find Setzer." She showed him exactly what to do by actually acting like she would indeed cast it, but just slowly enough to ensure he could hear each word. Of course, in Edgar's body, it failed because he couldn't cast the spell, even if the mind within it knew how to. If she had been in her own, it would have worked just fine.

"Now try it exactly how I did it. Since my body knows the magic, you should be able to do it as long as you perform it correctly."
