Flower Viewing

Who: ...Lol man anyone ever. Everyone?
What: A very "special" Hanami as noted here
When: Most of Saturday afternoon going into Saturday evening
Where: Ammy's Hill
Summary: The haphazardly planned long-waited Hanami actually happens.
Rating: Bro

Today is the day of the Hanami - the flower viewing - as planned by the SOS-Brigade, and it couldn't be a better day! There might be a cold snap today, but sometime during the early afternoon (because Haruki willed it to be so and I got mod permission) the sun gets out more and the temperature shoots up into a nice spring day. This nice spring day will persist until the sun sets, at which point it will go back to being the cold day it was meant to be today.

So while the weather is nice, you might as well enjoy yourselves! As promised, the set up here is fantastic. On the top of the hill is one giant Sakura tree and four smaller ones along the side leading to the road serving as something akin to a natural (double) torii (you know those old Shinto gate things) leading up to the main tree. All five trees are in bloom, but while the four smaller ones have the pink flowers everyone is familiar with, the top one (the big one on the center of the hill) has darker pink, almost red ones for some reason.

One reason why it might be red is that (buried in the ground) at the base of the biggest tree is a (fake Made in China) human skeleton. It's buried pretty well and thus might not come out at all, but it's there. It is.

Anyway, aside from the flowers, there are other things too! There are three big mats with a large collection of chips, sake, and water in various bowls with cups and such for people. And then towards the center (manned by Haruki and one or three other Brigade members [feel free to assume you character is one of them if you want; it'll probably be in shifts]) is a big collection of burners, pots, pans, and everything you would need to produce dumplings on the spot. And they are making dumplings (usually pork of course) for people there.

As for decorations aside from the flowers themselves... there are various painted things and paintings which some people might recognize as Miyabi's work. There are also more than likely paper lanterns up which'll help once the shadows grow deeper in the early evening. I'm being vague in case Miyabi's player wants to post something specific.

Oh and off on the opposite side of the hill from the four flank-trees (for the kids) is a series of three somewhat normal sized trampolines (for the kids) to make up for the lack of Haruki's promised jump land or giant trampoline.

So that's the setting: ENJOY.

[Naturally, this is action script/commentspam/whatever you kids are calling it these days and naturally like any big meeting post thing is set for full threadjack mode]

...Thank you, Vash. [She smiles, then pats her cheeks. Okay, no more of that! This was supposed to be fun! Fun! She can't go around crying and being down all of a sudden.]

Have you been here before? That big tree is Mother Amaterasu's. She planted the other smaller ones, too, with her Celestial Brush! I can't do that, yet. All I can make is flowers and little saplings.

Wow, that's all really amazing! Why is one tree red?

[Well, she doesn't know that there's an actually fake skeleton buried under the tree, but she does know the legend rather well. A very sly smirk spreads on her face and she chuckles darkly. It can be storytiem now?]

That's a rather grizzly tale, if you're up to listening to it, big brother~

...grizzly? How grizzly?

[Vash, you just dug your grave.]

A long time ago, they say a gruesome murder took place beneath a large and beautiful cherry blossom tree. The body was so destroyed by the assailant that no one even knew who it was... People also tell that the body was buried under the boughs of the sakura, and that the tree's roots absorbed the blood of the corpse, turning the blossoms a deep crimson when they bloomed.

Like the ones here.

That's... so sad.

But it's not true, right?

[identity profile] chiisaichou.livejournal.com 2010-03-29 02:44 am (UTC)(link)
[Pfft, that's not the reaction she wanted! She just wanted to scare your pants off, not make you sad!! Gdmit, Vash.]

Ah, er...w-well, I-I think so. I mean--there can't possibly be a body buried under Amaterasu's tree! She'd never allow it!
goldenglasses: (You really think so?)

[You're talking about murder! Of course he'll be sad! But it's okay - he 180s well and he's happy again already.] I'm glad it's just a story then!

[Then she really should avoid telling him stories from Nippon. A lot of them are kinda...ghastly. Especially the old murder mysteries and horror stories.]

Many stories from Nippon are like that. At least the scary ones...usually, though, it's not a person that does bad things, but a demon or an evil spirit. Even the good stories sometimes have sad, but beautiful endings.

Ah, I know, but I like the ones with happy endings better!

Hm, well, if I ever get a minute, maybe I can share a story with you. One that has a happy ending. I can't think of any right now, though...

I look foward to it!
