Who: [Bad username or site: colony_brat title= @ livejournal.com] and [Bad username or site: shadow_sheikah title= @ livejournal.com] OPEN Please run into these boys if you want. There is no plot so crash the log or nothing with happen! Just be careful if you don't want someone to die.
What: Trying to make their way home.
When: Tonight! About now! Right now! Watch out!
Where: Outside of town and into town toward house 49.
Summary: Duo and Sheik have been released by the Malnosso. Sheik's in bad shape so Duo's carrying him and trying to get him home safe. Approach with care!
Rating: R for violence... and language...
Dieb had been looking for days to find her kidnapped kits. With both of them gone, she had nothing better to do than comb the forest, village, and the occasional house for any sign of them. After many long days of searching, she finally came across something. A line of dead not-insects. She run along beside their bodies, going toward town. Mixed with the not-insect smell was the familiar smell of Kit and Shady. She was on the right track. Finally she could give her kits a piece of her mind. How could they get kidnapped like that.
Finally Deib came around a tree and saw Duo holding Sheik over his shoulder. Sheik was reaching up with his bandaged fingers to touch one of the pretty butterflies. His eyes were glazed and with his scarf hanging off his face, it was easy to see the look of wonder at the tease. Then, with a snap, Duo turned and sliced through the tease. Another moved toward his face so, instead of risking it getting any closer to Sheik, Duo bit the thing and ground his teeth to kill it. He spat it out with a disgusted sound before continuing toward the village.
Dieb followed, sniffing after her kits. Something was very wrong with them. Sheik wasn't acting normal and Duo was more predator than before. He stank of blood, explosives, and death. His steps were careful and silent as he stalked toward the village. Dieb followed, not wanting to get in way. She pitied anyone who Duo decided was a danger.

The door is still a problem though. Duo growls a little as he's forced to put his gun away, but he's not taking his eyes off Link. He gropes behind him for the doorknob so he can twist it and slip inside the door with a spin that put his back to the door and he could look over their downstairs and decide if it's safe.

As soon as they're through the door, he's up and moving again - heading for the door himself, keeping a watchful eye out for both teases and Duo's weapon. Finally, he manages to get the tease away from his ear, looking faintly dismayed with his fingertips come away covered in red - guess it liked his ear.
Now, getting back inside... "Duo, I'm coming inside!" he calls as a warning, then starts to slip towards it - and hopes fervently that Duo lets him, because right now, every window is locked tight against the killer butterflies.

Although right now, he's getting rather sick of being upside-down. It's making his head hurt. He tries to right himself, but only succeeds in knocking his head against the door. He growls silently and whacks the door with his fist. Why did it have to be in his way?

Okay. Something is wrong with Duo, then, and he has to get him away from Sheik. Now.
The sword stays in its sheath for now, but Link's hand is ready to grab it at a second's notice as he takes a few steps closer. "Duo, get away from him," he says, trying to sound calm and in control but the words coming out more like a growl. "You're not... you're not yourself. I'll take care of Sheik myself."
And he sets a foot on the bottom step.

He loses interest in whatever Link's saying fairly quickly - he can't make much sense of words anyway. Sheik instead turns his attention to the stairs and reaching to touch them as they slowly pass by him, one step at a time.

Looking more animal than human, Duo lifts his lip and practically growls at Link. "No. I won't let you take him. You can't hurt him." Duo pulls Sheik closer to him and makes a break for the bathroom door. He would probably do better barricading himself in the bedroom, but he doesn't have the supplies he needs and he really needs to wash off that blood.

The bathroom door closes, and Link slumps down on a stair, shaking a little. "Dieb," he remembers, glancing down at the ferret before dropping his head in his hands. "What's wrong with Duo? Why does he think I'm gonna hurt Sheik? I'd rather die than hurt him!"
no subject
He huffs, annoyed, and once again tries to get down. This would all be so much easier to understand if he could see what was going on, instead of relying solely on his limited upside-down view.

He turns back to Sheik and it's like there's a different person standing there. This time he looks like a happy 17 year old again. "Hey, buddy. How are ya feelin'? What do ya say to a shower or a bath?"
no subject
...Interesting. If he turns his head, the world takes longer than he remembers to follow him. Slowly, he turns his head one way, then the other. He's not sure if that's because he's dizzy now, or if that's just making him dizzier. He stops and blinks at Duo. He's not sure, but he's fairly positive Duo's asking him about something. He nods faintly, even though he's unsure of the question in the first place.

Duo's not worried about soiling anything since he hasn't washed yet. He just starts trying to take off Sheik's clothes. He'll get Sheik clean and then take a shower himself. Their clothes are so dirty, they're going to have to put on something new anyway so it doesn't matter.

He looks troubled by this and looks up at Duo. The tub is very cold.

Apparently Dieb has been spending too much time with Duo. She can talk just about as fast and seems to breathe just about as often. Her littler voice sounds as authoritative as possible. Someone has to set the stupid kits straight. She'll wiggle her way into the bathroom to check on Kit after she's taken care of this one. She'll have to inform Hijiri of Duo's return as well.

"I'd never do anything to hurt Sheik... I'd rather die... doesn't he get that?" He glances up the stairs again, then back again, stroking Dieb absently. "It's not fair... why'd they have to hurt them?"
no subject
"Kit will relax eventually. He needs time. His den's been stirred up and his littermate threatened. You should see what happens if someone threatens Hijiri. You can also bribe them. Kit likes food." Dieb obviously enjoys the absent-minded stroking. She's been so busy looking for her kits, she hasn't gotten nearly as much attention as she's been getting from humans.
Duo's a fountain of knowledge. While her size might have made it hard for her to look people in the eye, it made it incredibly easy to spy on the entire house. The stories that ferret could tell would make the entire house want to lock her up in a cave.

Food... "Should I make them some food?" he asks curiously, a frown on his face. "Would the... them... have given them anything to eat?"

And that's what he starts on, making a couple of decent, filling sandwiches. He's taking his time with it, though - a part of him really doesn't want to go back up there. The thought of Sheik possibly being starved is what finally prompts him to go up - carefully balancing the two sandwiches, two apples, and two glasses of water (somehow!) as he goes.
Setting everything neatly outside the door, he knocks once, calling, "Duo? I bought you guys some food. I'm gonna move away from the door, but I just want you to tell me how Sheik is, okay?"
And he does - close enough to still see the door, far away enough to (hopefully!) not be considered a threat.
((OOC: Want to combine the threads? Or, at least, tell Link to GTFO? XD;; He would have been in the kitchen for about ten minutes, if you want to time-match.))

Once he's headed back toward her kits, Dieb gets down and follows him up the stairs. Unlike Link, she can squeeze her way under the door. Duo looks at her before dismissing her. Ferrets are not soldiers, threats, or butterflies. They might be annoying pains in the ass, but they're not dangerous.
Link's big ears should be able to hear the click as Duo pulls his gun and aims it at the door. Food is good. They might have put something in it though. He would test it all on himself first. Then let Sheik have some. The price is information on Sheik's status. It seems reasonable enough. "He'll be fine now."

"...Can I see him?" he asks almost nervously, "I just wanna see for myself... what did the Malnosso do to him?"
