HOUSE 48 MOVIE NIGHT!

With Litchi still out of sorts, what better way to pass the time than by staying up late and watching countless mind-numbing chick flicks with wafer-thin plots? It's fun for the whole family. Well, not so much the whole family, but it's fun for Litchi and Tsubaki, what with them being hopeless romantics and all. As for the others? A fate arguably worse than death awaits them.

It's sure to be just grand.]

[And Litchi, finally capable of tottering around the house, at least, has set up the living room with the perfect display for Chick Flick Movie Night. A huge bowl of popcorn -- it's just salted with no butter (the doctor in her insists on that much at least) -- is set up on the coffee table alongside a tray of simple snacks, and she's even made some tea.

She of course had the presence of mind to put a box of tissues on the coffee table as well. There's no way they're making it through The Notebook without sobbing.

Having pushed her limited capabilities as far as they'll go, she sinks onto the couch and pulls her throw around herself for warmth.]

I think that should be everything... Is there anything I forgot, Miss Yayoi?

This is more than enough. You really shouldn't have gone through so much trouble for this, Miss Litchi. [Tsubaki had only planned this to cheer you up, not make you feel worse.]

And just 'Tsubaki' is fine. [You're practically her adoptive mother by now, after all.]

[She gives Tsubaki a sheepish smile. The girl has a point. There's really no need for such formality.]

It really wasn't any trouble. To be honest, it was nice just to be able to lend a hand again.

Well I certainly appreciate it. [And it's a good thing Goroh left his entertainment center here.]

Now if I could just figure out... wait. Why are there so many remotes?

I... can't say I really know. I would think only one would work just fine, given how many buttons...

[Goroh, you should have left an instruction booklet. Seriously, why so many remotes?]

Maybe we should just try them one at a time.

[It's at this point Thirteen returns home. He had taken a small break by going to the bar for a short while; so his guitar is on his back as he steps inside. And of course, he sees Litchi and Tsubaki fiddling with the remotes for the entertainment center.]

...You two need a hand?

[What a gentleman. Tsubaki turns her head from the pile of remotes.]

I'm afraid so. We're having a little trouble figuring out which remote to use...

[Litchi glances over her shoulder at him and gives a small sigh of relief. Thank god. He's used this thing before.]

Ah -- David, you wouldn't happen to know which one of these works, would you?

[He nods, and approaches.]

It's more like which ones work. It's like a combination safe the way Goroh has this thing set up. [He pauses, looking over the collection of remotes. He probably did it on purpose, knowing him. Oh well. He knows how to do it.] First, it's this one. [He picks up one of the other remotes and hits the power button.] Then... [And he switches remotes again. And once more. And then he hits the volume so the speakers are actually on. Dammit, Goroh.]

...There. I swear, my Terminator has a less complicated startup procedure.

[Wow. Just...wow. Nice work, but what if they have to pause or skip or something?

It looks like you'll be staying, Dave.]

What a needlessly troublesome procedure...

*VWOOP.*

*With a quick black vortex, there is now a gothic lolita vampire sitting in the middle of your TV room, everybody. She looks very cross at being there.* What a miserable little world this is.

[Litchi is about to ask David what remote they need -- or what combination of remotes -- for just watching something when suddenly, loli vampire! She jumps at the VWOOP and just stares, blinking in shock.

That... she just... what?]

Miss Rachel...?!

[Suddenly... someone else magically teleports into the room. Right in front of the TV. Thirteen somewhat absently glares down at the remote in his hand and quietly mutters something.]

That's... different. What button did I push?!...

[Undo, David. UNDO. Tsubaki remembers this one.]

...You think so? Does that mean you're not interested in joining us for movie night?

*Well, she's in a house. And two of the people she recognizes. The third, not so much, but she'll write him off as completely inconsequential.* Joining you for... "movie night"?

I am almost loathe to ask if this "movie night" is, in fact, as silly and juvenile as it sounds on first impression.

[Rachel, why you always gotta rain on everyone's parade? :c Still, David's mumbled question brings a small smile to her lips.]

Oh, it isn't that bad. It'll be fun.

[She pauses thoughtfully.] Unless you're not much for romance movies, I suppose.

[He blinks twice at the dissonance between Rachel's appearance and the words coming out of her mouth, but he doesn't stare. He just finishes setting up by flipping the TV to the right video setting.

And then he passes the remote he was using to Litchi.]

Should be all set there. Just hit play on this remote whenever you're ready to start.

[Suddenly, there is a Tao.]

[First a Rachel, now a Tao. Did Miss Litchi make enough popcorn?]

You... want to watch with us too, Tao? This may not be your kind of thing, but... no one is immune to the charm of The Notebook.

*Look, Rachel is the rain on your parade made flesh.*

Romance movies? The lot of you are truly planning on watching something as insipid and formulaic as that? I suppose this is proof enough of the old axiom that there is no accounting for taste.

*And yet. She's in a chair, and she doesn't seem to be going anywhere...*

[Litchi just shakes her head. Rachel, you don't seem to be going anywhere very fast, so she'll just take that sniping as something you don't really mean.

Smiling, she glances back at Thirteen.]

And Tao, you're welcome to as many snacks as you want, but try to make sure you leave enough for everyone.

[He nods to Litchi. ...But romance movies? Really? Uh.]

I appreciate the offer, but I think I might pass.

Tao doesn't know what's going on neow...but okay!

[...Insipid and fomulaic... romance? WHAT. There is clearly something very wrong with you, Rachel. And Tsubaki is too distraught to make something of the fact that you are nevertheless staying put.]

It's okay, Tao. We'll explain the intricacies of the plot to you as it progresses. [Because these movies are so deep and the plots so intricate. :|]

Intricacies? Ha! *She all but giggles. It's very unsettling.* Perhaps even the Kaka kitten could understand without your aid.
