Who: Asch and Luke
What: A fonic link talky-talk.
When: Right now 8| and... beyond. Or something. IDK HOWEVER FAR IT GOES
Where: ~~House 5~~ Community building 1, room 1 :|b
Summary: Asch contacts Luke via the fonic link to check on him while he's kidnapped. Things aren't going so well.
Rating: PG at most.

It's been a few days, and a long enough wait that Asch is starting to feel concerned- at least, as concerned as he ever gets when his replica is involved. He's been getting odd twinges of something lately, some sort of after-effect of whatever was happening to Luke. It hadn't bothered him much at first, but over time the niggling feeling had gotten worse, and he's had enough. Even with everything that's been going on in the village, that sort of distraction is going to weigh on him more and more.

Finally he decides to investigate- he locks himself in his room, kneeling in the center of the floor, and focuses on Luke, opening his fon slots and mentally calling out to the replica he knows should still be linked to his own mind.

"Luke. Can you hear me?"

[ooc note, if anyone cares: the location change was due to a change in circumstances that happened after this began, but played out after. DERP. The apartment chosen is the first empty one Asch found- that of a recently idled character.]

"O-Okay, okay, I'll try not to bother you!"

[Even if the threat was empty, going back to that hellhole is the last thing Luke wants to do. And now that he actually knows what's going on, he might be a little quieter. Maybe.]

[...Okay, a jittery Luke would be even worse than an annoying one, so he should probably cut it out. And it's time to get off the floor, so he finally pushes himself back to his feet.]

"I should warn you, there's something strange going on in the village. If you see anything weird, don't be surprised."

[Is Asch okay? Luke won't respond until Asch is on his feet and steady, just in case he needs some concentration. If he had hands, he'd set them on his shoulders and make sure he's all right, but alas... all he can do is leave everything to Asch.

Once he's sure that he's okay, he'll speak up.]

"The village...? What kind of weird things?"

[The only downside of this situation, unfortunately- having to deal with no body. Asch is just thankful this link can only work on his end. He can't imagine having to live with the replica.]

"There's a holiday they keep bringing up here, 'Halloween'. It messes everything up- here, just look."

[Rather than trying to describe it, Asch walks to the window and looks out at the bizarre decorations, accented by the creeping fog and endless night.]

"Hal-oh-ween?"

[He's never heard of that before. Still, Luke looks out at the decor, and he can't help but make a weirded-out noise. He's never been fond of creepy things, and this definitely takes the cake over all the ghost stories he's heard.]

"I thought holidays were supposed to be fun!"

[Last year they got a theme park. Why couldn't this year have been just as harmless 8|]

"The Malnosso have different ideas about what life should be like, remember?"

[Considering what you were going through all of five minutes ago.]

[Luke would much prefer a theme park over something like this. 8| He thinks about what Asch says, then mentally rubs the back of his head and looks away.]

"R-Right... Is anything else happening?"

[Asch gazes outside for a moment longer, then shuts the curtain, turning away to head out the door and into the hallway.]

"Nothing worth mentioning yet. Things could get worse from here on out, though, so pay attention."

"Okay."

[He's not sure how he's supposed to pay attention like this, but he sure will try. If things are going to get worse, Asch might need his help. Everyone else might, too, but at the moment, Asch is really the only one he can help.]

[Asch doesn't respond, leaving the... apartment? Yep, apartment - to start walking down the main hall towards the exit, and Luke is free to notice it isn't their house. The bedroom they'd left had been about as sparsely decorated as Asch's room back home, the rest of the apartment even less so. It pretty much looks like he just arrived.]

[Luke is definitely noticing this. And while he said that he wouldn't bother Asch too much, he can't help but ask.]

"Hey, this isn't our house..."

[...Ah, crap. Asch had expected him to notice, but it's still an irritation.]

"Obviously. Next you'll be telling me my hair is red."

[IGNORING THAT.]

"Were you visiting someone?"

"No."

[DELAY, DELAY.]

[YOU CAN'T ESCAPE.]

"Then why were you here?"

"Because I -moved out-, you idiot."

[GOD, COULD YOU BE ANY MORE DENSE]

[... WHAT HOW WAS HE SUPPOSED TO GUESS THAT.]

"You what?!"

"I told you not to yell."

[He starts outside, though he pauses before exiting, taking a good look at the looming fog. If he didn't need groceries he really wouldn't be going back out- the whole village is getting really creepy and messed up.]

"But why did you move out? What about everyone else?"

[... Nngh, that fog is creepy. Come on, Asch, look away from it already. D| ]

[How can you look away from it, it's everywhere 8| Whatever, he just walks out and starts forward in the general direction of the plaza. Good thing the village has signs now.]

"Everyone else can fend for themselves. I should've left a long time ago."

[Gah, Luke wishes he could turn around and see which building they came from and where their house is, but Asch isn't exactly going to cooperate with that. Whatever, he'll look when they get back.]

"Asch..."

[Because that really does sound like a legitimate reason for him. He doesn't know about the deeper relationship he has, after all. Natalia will be sad, but... it's kind of expected Asch to just up and move away.

... And he doesn't want to push it too much, either.]

[Asch just walks quietly through the fog for a little while, mulling about in his thoughts, even as he tries not to dwell on the reasoning behind why he'd moved out. The last thing he needs is for Luke to find out like that, especially when they might not-

...No, no. Not dwelling on it, not thinking about it. He doesn't even want Guy's name to enter the picture. Dammit...]

"...Don't sound so pathetic."

[Luke doesn't really feel emotions from Asch, so the pain and frustration and sadness takes him by surprise. He's not really feeling any of that, so... It's must've been Asch. Something about this topic's really eating at him... So why did he move out if he obviously didn't want to?

Luke isn't sure if he has the right to ask. Asch would probably just brush him off, anyway... So he'll go to a different subject, hoping to avoid more of the oppressing feelings that Asch is sending.]

"... So where are we going now?"

[Probably better that he didn't mention it, too; if Asch knew about those overflowing emotions, he'd have shut Luke out immediately. As it is, he's just relieved, though he has the sense to keep that hidden from Luke.]

"Just the store. I need supplies if I'm going to be living there for a while."

[And the sooner he's back in the apartment, the better. The fog is really starting to weigh on him.]

[Yeah, Luke knows better. He really doesn't want to push it, especially with that empty threat earlier. Now that they're on a different topic, Luke should probably keep talking about it. Just to try and get Asch's mind off of whatever got him moving out of the house.]

"Hey, can we get some chicken while we're there?"
