heaven's never enough.
Who: D and anyone who wants to pass by.
What: D is loitering by the lake before retiring to his apartment room due to the weather.
When: A while after the snow started.
Where: The lakeside.
Summary: Nothing yet, really. |B
Rating: G for nothing yet.
D stood solitarily by the water, large shawl (which was actually a blanket that he had taken from a nearby shop - improvision was key in these situations) wrapped around his thin body to ward off the chilling cold and the snow that was gradually turning everything to white. His eyes were fixed on the dark water, its’ depths looking almost black in contrast to the bright flakes of snow alighting on the ground.
He had been talking to the fish only a brief while earlier, about their life here, about the Filial natives and the arrival of the dreaded Malnosso. Life had been peaceful in this Eden until they had come, their varied and cruel experiments wiping out the innate race and taking a good number of animals along with. He heard stories of disease and starvation, abuse and murder and utter destruction — all just tests. It had been (was) a genocide in the name of science.
D’s glossed lips quirked into a frown as he continued to gaze at the now-still water, its’ only movements coming now from the tiny snowflakes falling lazily upon the lake. The aquatic animals had retreated to the depths of the water where it was warmer, leaving him alone to process the information that he had gathered. He had considered going back to the forest, where there would doubtlessly be creatures that did not need to take shelter in response to the weather change, but it was getting much too cold for him to stay out of doors for very much longer, himself. Despite the Malnosso’s act of nearly stripping him of what he was, they hadn’t felt the need to bother with his little ‘defect’, and with his body so altered, he would have to be cautious.
He clasped the blanket he had taken more tightly around his self as he broke away his train of thought. He had been doing nothing but speaking with the numerous creatures here since he had arrived, because he needed the information (he definitely didn’t plan to stay here for the rest of his life) and because it was the most familiar act to engage in. And to supplement that, it was also an adequate distraction from worrying about the state of the pet shop and young Chris and, of course, Leon. That Itsuki fellow’s theory of duplication was not nearly enough to assuage his subtle fears.
As things were now, there was not much that he could do.
(I feel like I haven’t been doing anything lately, so open thread!)

She shuddered as she crossed into a clearing. The lake? She frowned, and her eyebrows furled together. I don't remember walking that far... She was startled when she noticed a woman near the water.
"Hello?" She called out, her voice soft. Unsure of what else to say, she smiled and waved toward her.
[Yeah, Alice thinks Count's a chick. I thought he was a chick when I first saw the manga in the stores, so I can only assume he gets that a lot. XD]

He hadn’t expected anyone to walk this far through the woods in the rapidly cooling weather, but he suppose that with taking the population of this little village into consideration there had to be at least a few that would stray. Of course, there was also the possibility that it had not been snowing when she had first decided to venture out of doors (it hadn’t been when he had set out, but he hadn’t been keeping track of time here in the forest - there was no need. He had doubtlessly spent at least a few days without bothering to return to his apartment). It was certainly a possibility. There had been nothing to warn anyone as to the change in weather, but it wasn’t really the weather, so it wasn’t surprising.
[He seriously does, no kidding. Random dudes try to molest him all the time in the manga. ):
Needless to say, I think he’s probably a bit used to it by now. XD]

"It's nice out here" She commented, brushing snow from her silver hair. The silence of the falling snow, and the soft babble of the river brought forward memories of the Blue Castle,"I guess it might be because it's nice to know that there is beauty even in such a hellish place."
She wasn't the best conversationalist, too nervous to usually speak with anyone. So she wasn't surprised to find herself stumbling over what words to say. It made her blush a faint pink, she really hadn't spoken to too many people since she came here.
[Ah! I'm so sorry that it took me forever. I'm a horrible procrastinator! Like, Seriously. XD]

"If you don’t mind my asking, Miss, what is it that brought you out quite so far?" He wasn’t particularly curious, but spoke simply for the sake of conversation. He ignored the nagging reminder in the back of his mind that told him it would not be safe for him to stay outside much longer.
