[Jack pipes up softly with a couple of lines from the song, which, apparently, is about mermaids:]

"This sweet mermaid as warned us of our doom! We shall sink to the bottom of the sea!"

[And then subsides back into humming, fingers plucking at the hem on the cuff of the jeans.]
