Well, it's not much of a shortcut. Everyone knows about it. We just go through the woods instead of around the river like the usual path.

I was worried at first, but it's turned out to be not too hard! [Now that her most drastic fears are clearly not going to happen, she can laugh about it.] I guess with everyone from different places like this, I was worried about how I'd measure up.

Yeah, I kind of was too. I grew up in the South Pole and learned everything from my dad and gran gran. There wasn't much reading there and we usually only learned the necessities to survive. I've pretty much to catch up with a ton before I started going here. In fact, I was here for months before I finally went.

What's the South Pole like?

[Oh, well that was an odd subject change. Okay, he'll go with it. They're almost there anyway.]

Well, there's a lot of ice. I don't mean just a little lot. I mean you can't turn around without seeing ice. Even the ice has icicles on it. And then there's snow. And then more ice.

... but it can be pretty amazing to see, if you know the right spots.

Wow. It's funny, isn't it? Even when we talk about other worlds in school - oh, here and at home - it's hard to imagine such different places existing. But it really does sound beautiful!

You have to see the Celestial Lights to really appreciate it. But I know what you mean. Two years ago, I'd never been anywhere but the South Pole. Traveling the world with the Avatar? That was a real eye opener, not gonna lie.

Uh, well, the Avatar? He's just this kid. But he's the reincarnation of all these other guys who basically keep order and peace in the world with their awesome ability to control all four elements. [Have some vague wiggly fingers to indicate his special powers.]

Defeating the Fire Nation kind of hinged on having him around.
