[ elena stumbles a bit, then catches herself and straightens, brushing off the front of her clothing. for a moment, she eyes the other girl up and down the way she might eye a robert e. lee student who attempted to sit at her table without permission. then she remembers where she is, now, and her expression and posture relax. ]

It's all right. I'm a bit off balance, myself. I suppose that's what happens when one's been kidnapped.

You'll get used to it. Luceti's not as bad as it seems, I promise. It's-- [ caroline cuts herself off, noticing the necklace. ] Where did you get that?

[ elena frowns for a second, then notices where caroline is looking and pulls the charm of the necklace away from her a bit, looking at it again. ]

I don't know, honestly. I woke up in some strange bed with these wings, and this was around my neck.

[ she raises a hand as if to grab for it. ]

[ she steps back, narrowing her eyes at the other blonde. it was possible that there was another elena that the girl knew, of course, but she wasn't in the habit of believing in coincidences anymore. ]

[ caroline follows her instincts, which are still laced with latent vampiric impulses. she surges forward and grabs a handful of the girl's shirt, snarling. ...or attempting to snarl. what should be a snarl accompanied by fangs and bloodshot eyes is a hiss-like noise and blunt, human teeth. caroline groans in irritation and swears under her breath, letting go of the other girl and taking a small step back. ]

[ though caroline's assault isn't as threatening as it should be, elena is still plenty frightened by it and shrieks as she gets a handful of her shirt, attempting to leap back and away. she takes a few greater steps back, her hand at her throat as she attempts to catch her breath. ]
