On my two legs. The tail doesn't do much for all fours. At least not for crawling. [She's probably seen him run on all fours, though. He's at his fastest that way.]

Yeah, come to think of it, given the way your legs pan out, crawling wouldn't work very well for you, would it...? [She wishes she had a visual reference about now, going off memory is annoying]

Yeah, crawling is a major drag. [He's starting to get a little weirded out by this conversation at this point.]

[Hm. and he can do things like use the feet as hands, so she puts on the thoughtful face again. Objective analysis...]

...Kinda wish I could have tried that for a while. [Muttering to herself. IT would be different, at least]

[He smirks.]

Ohh yeah, I bet you'd look great like that! [Actually it happened to Rogue, but he sees no need to mention that to her.] A total blue babe.

[...]

Well it's not like you'd know! You're a mutant, not a species, so you wouldn't have seen another blue person who was female.

[... again, no need to mention Rogue. It was bad enough he got infatuated with her.]

Well, I can imagine it, yeah?

[Then again...]

Though... you're probably right. [He doesn't find Rogue attractive like that, at all. And it's not because she's his 'sister', because he's not really wired to find the thought of her as immediately 'squick'. No, it was just the fact that a female blue demon thing isn't attractive. Neither is a male one.]

[She is in no way perceptive enough to make out what the shift in tone or facial expression means, but right now while her senses are going at a level a million times better than normal, she can't help but take note of both. It's annoying and she feels like she should do or say something, but... She shakes her head. And takes a few steps away from him backwards, more to put a little distance than anything else]

'Course I'm right, I was just stating a fact: there's no one else who will be looking like you, because you're a result of an odd mincing of DNA. You're human, right? You just look more like a normal one now.

[She shakes her head] If you ask me, you look better blue anyway though.

[Ha, he kinda wishes that was true. Rogue looking like him just kind of nails away the fact he's not just an odd looking human. He's something different. Something only kind of human. Hell, he might not even be compatible with humans.]

I look 'cooler', anyway. [People always thing he looks 'cooler' that way.]

I didn't say cooler, I said better. Don't put words in my mouth.

[She says, slightly annoyed and folding her arms. She looks for a wall to lean up against- because this just seems like an apt time to be doing that]

Right, sorry. [He feels strongly compelled to just abruptly say goodbye and teleport away... but he can't. So he's stuck here, without no real exit. It's strange, but he's out in the open and still feels kind of claustrophobic.]

Better or not, I'd be happy to be just like this. [... except able to teleport still.]

[...She's surprised, actually. She's not sure why she is, but she is and as a result before her mouth filters it, she shoots out:] Why?

[He frowns, partially annoyed that she doesn't seem to get it and partially because he expected her to.]

Is it really that hard to figure out?

Well, ye- ["yes" He's unique, he's special, he's one of a kind and there's no way that he could ever escape it. To her, that sounds perfect, but before she even finishes her own snap reply she bites her lip, thinking of a sentiment more like Winry's. This isn't quite the same, but...]

So what, you want to be like everyone else?

Yeah, why not? I know I should be happy to be myself, but it would be way better if myself was only a little different.

[Even in Luceti, it doesn't matter, Kurt always stands out in a crowd. Even with Leon and Uriko, Kurt is the weirdest one in the Brigade. It's just how it is.]

And how's that way better? You'd just look like everyone else and have to live the same sort of boring life that nor- nonmutant humans have to live; hell, you probably wouldn't even know your friends, right?

[She's really trying to get his mindset - she's secondhanding it, so it's hard.]

... maybe not. [Not if he was just a normal human. As just a teleporting kid? He might have still went to the Xavier school.]

But I would have had a way more interesting life if I grew up looking like this. There's nothing boring about being able to go out and make friends.

Only if you put it like that- if you're just a nonmutant going in and out then you're just like everyone else on the planet. It's only appealing because you're idealizing it.

[Or maybe she just has an issue with being "normal" - it's a little of both]

And you're not doing the same?

[After all, just a minute ago she was talking about how cool it would be to have a shot at being him. He also remembers her being excited about being an alien.]

-Shut up! [Okay yes, she is. And that comes out by default - her body language shifts and she frowns]

The point is that you get to be unique and stuff and do things none of us can dream about because you're like that, so it's more beneficial than just being some normal shaped person! Besides, you wear it well most of the time, so don't go going all mopey on me now!

[Ugh. It's not that simple. It's nowhere that simple. Being able to climb on the walls pales in light to being able to go to the mall and try on normal clothes or go on a dance with a normal girl and not have her freak out about those two furry fingers underneath the holographic projection.]

You just don't get it, Haruhi. Just... forget I said anything. [With that he starts walking home.]

[...Maybe she doesn't. To her credit, she lets him go, frowning, and then turns to go on her way too. Maybe one day she will get it, because she's starting to get tired of various people telling her that she doesn't. Tired, but at this point she's so used to it that she can't even blame Kurt]
