Kanda & Rinali [closed for now]

Who: Kanda [livejournal.com profile] invectively & Rinali [livejournal.com profile] velvetier
What: Searchtiemz.
When: Earlier today.
Where: Around the forest.
Summary: Kanda's on the hunt! To find Rinali, since her legs are still injured.
Rating: PG
To his credit, he had tried to not think about them. And tried, and tried, but every time he moved and felt swaying resistence, every time a pinch of discomfort shot through unfamiliar muscles and tendons and nerves, every time his hair rustled against the feathers in that infuriatingly soft way, Kanda couldn't force the agitated tick from his brow. Then again, he wasn't trying very hard in that respect. The stale and unfamiliar fabric of the white pants he woke with were discarded, traded for the folded black pair beside the boots at his bedside. Something sank warily in the pit of his stomach; the material smelled clean and new, nothing like hot dust and battle. Not a scuff marred the black leather of his boots, and even his exorcist coat lie clean and pretty across a small, primitive wooden table. Kanda only glared at it, a low curse tumbling from his lips.

His limbs were stiff and mechanical as he stood, the small wings still stretching foreign and painful along the breadth of his back. Temporarily forgotten as a single-minded fixation spurred him into steady steps across the small room, fingers reaching, aching for the commanding black scabbard leaning against the wall. There was no hesitation to draw the blade, the steel purring blue through the golden light streaming through the window.

Intact. Alive. That was all he need to know. Resheathing the blade without question, Kanda tugged his boots on and clipped his belt with its holster to his waist, leaving the small shack moments later. Rinali was there; if she still couldn't invoke then it'd be troublesome to leave her alone, Ark or no. He followed the babbling stream down towards the outline of the forest, sharp eyes scanning through the trees, trying to pick up slack where his head felt cottony and unresponsive. Scowling gloriously, Kanda halted before the stream, gazing over it thoughtfully before swivelling his torso to catch a better glimpse of the wings. Small and black, glossy in the sun and almost lost against his mass of hair. How fucking annoying.

All this new shit, and he didn't even have a damn hair tie.

This was fairly strange, and she couldn't find any way to explain it. The last thing she could remember was Allen pushing her through the door as they left Crowley behind, all the while Rinali screamed and struggled, begging for him to release her until he held her face firmly within his hands; which caused her efforts to come to a quick halt. That was within the Ark, and from there it seemed everything began to fade; which brought her to waking up within this world.

It all felt too much like a dream.

The wings on her back just added to the confusion, having found herself in a white dress within a small house. It even seemed as though her legs remained the same as before, wrapped in gauze and weak from pushing herself past her limits; even struggling to walk as she forced a little effort to make it through the small village.

It didn't take her far from the house she left just moments ago, having followed a steam until her legs grew tired of pushing themselves to even stand. This brought her to the spot she sat within now, staring down at her tired legs after just trailing her fingers over the small journal at her side. The journal was what she used to contact a friend; a comrade. It brought tears of joy and a smile to her face to know that she wasn't alone in this world, and that Kanda Yuu was here as well.

Just moments before arriving here, her heart was filled with so much dread in fear of losing all her beloved friends; just pieces of her world falling apart as they moved through that Ark.

At least she was sure that Kanda was alright, and that hopefully so were the others. Rinali brought her eyes away from the journal, a figure in the distance that looked all too familiar. His back facing her, as usual. She could never mistake that frame for anyone else. "Kanda!" She shouted, pushing herself up to her feet with strength she didn't realize she had before, nearly tackling him into the small stream while hugging her arms around his waist. "I'm so glad you're here!" It was a shaky reply, as if she was holding herself back from crying, pressing her face against the mess of black hair.

And still, she didn't quite notice the wings on his back yet either.

Rinali was almost afraid that they would lose their balance the moment she threw her arms around his waist, feeling her own feet become unsteady. She held on tightly in fear that they might just topple over into the water, but then a balance was kept while she barely took notice of those wings fluttering gracelessly.

It took a while to feel something soft brush against her cheeks, which felt a little like feathers; slowly opening her eyes to take notice of the small wings poking out of his back. A short gasp escaped her as she moved back a little, her arms still wrapped loosely around Kanda's waist while she watched the wings flutter in frustration.

"Ah! You have wings as well..!" Rinali voiced her discovery, a small smile gracing her lips while she dared to lightly run her fingers over the soft feathers, pulling away after a short while to give Kanda a little personal space when she noticed he looked a bit uncomfortable. With a few small steps backwards, she gave him the space he needed, holding back her tears of joy as she apologize. ".. I'm sorry. I guess I got a little excited."

Her eyes remained fixed on Kanda for a few moments of silence, the small purple wings on her back fluttering nervously before she began to speak. "I'm really glad you're alright." Rinali spoke after her eyes quickly searched Kanda for any injuries, the tiny smile slowly being washed away with concern as she looked at the wings once more. "But..."

While the small wings were a cute addition, something still didn't seem right...

Rinali shifted a little on her feet as Kanda turned around to face her, watching quietly as he looked her over to take notice of her small purple wings and damaged legs.

A small frown made it's way onto her lips after she heard the question about her legs still remaining injured while all other wounds healed with their arrival. It was the same as when Miranda tried reversing time in order to restore her legs, and yet still they remained broken.

"I'm sorry, Kanda." She apologized, but for what reason? She felt a little guilty because her legs still remained useless, but while she was able to stand and walk, that was all because she was pretending not to notice and continued to push herself forward. It was still a small struggle just to stand even, but she tried to hide it as much as she could, pushing onto a second subject.

"So, did you find a place to stay? I woke up in a house near the river."
