First meeting of the science club. 3:00 today. The barracks. Please keep it secret.

Action

[Don will be at the barracks early, staking out a room and frequently peeking into the hall to make sure everyone finds their way to the unmarked location. When everyone seems to have arrived, he'll gather them in a loose circle for a brief round of introductions. Once that's done, he'll encourage them to mingle and talk about whatever interests them. At later meetings they can focus on specific topics; today they'll just get a sense of the group's dynamics, their areas of interest, and what physical and intellectual resources they can pool towards their various goals.]

((* Including the Elric brothers, because Winry vouched for them, but excluding Eggman, because he's a little scary.))

((Just to be clear: the character exclusions are IC only. OOCly, if you want your character to attend, then go ahead and assume they found out about the meeting despite the invitees' best efforts to be stealthy.))

"Our objective, is to stop these kidnappings." Her voice turns solid. Everyone in the room knows what she is talking about, though for Daisy, it is something that has given her nightmares.

A pause. Even these outbursts of emotion had to be controlled.

"I won't deny the things we could use that tech for." Hell, if they managed to safely get droid parts for research, she'd love to use that technology for the MJOLNIR. "But know that this is important. This is something you will have to use and study responsibly. This is for the residents. For all of us."

"If we could repurpose those things... We'd have a hand against the Malnosso."

It's a distant possibility. But if it ever were to happen, this man was right. The possibilities would be endless.

Ami nods, lending a subtle emphasis and support to Daisy's words. "It's true that all of this is interesting in its own right. The breadth of what the Malnosso have been able to do. But that same knowledge has been used against us, against everyone here. Our first priority is to end that. That's why we're studying it."

"If we're going to put a stop to the oppression and kidnappings then we need to put a stop to the Malnosso altogether!" Eggman stands up, clenching a fist. He's feeling passionate about this. "We can't think in the short-term! There are only two options, destroy the Malnosso or force them to surrender!" He looks around the room to everyone listening, lowering his hand. "But despite that, we can't think too far ahead for now. We need to study these droids and any other Malnosso technology we can and find out just what we can do with it."

"Please remember," Ami interrupted softly, "We were able to bring back the people kidnapped for experimentation once before. However, at that time, we were unable to end the experiments completely."

It had been a disappointing end to a mission undertaken with so many hopes.

"This time, we need to be sure of ourselves even more."

"You entered the Malnosso's facility to rescue them?" Eggman had heard about this, but Sparrow had refused to tell him who had managed it. It could have been another event altogether, though. "How did the Malnosso react? It would help to have some idea of the risks we are undertaking here." Eggman says, but adds: "Though I for one am prepared to take any risk."

The visor turns towards Ami, its' head lifted, the Spartan's expression unreadable behind it. There is a pause as she seeks for the words, but relaxes. There is so much she wants to know about that mission.

"We're equally bad just at their mercy. But they're right. We'll need to focus on what we can do for now." She turns her head. "The offensive will come when we get the chance."

A decision she hates. Spartans should always think on the offensive, not on the defensive. Still... It's what they have for now.

This is new for Robert. He hadn't heard about anybody ever being rescued from the facilities before, and that's empowering to consider, even if it had ultimately failed - the fact that they'd tried - had been able to try - is fascinating in and of itself.

And Eggman's drive is surprising him. He seems so much more focused now that Robert is actually a little impressed.

"Besides the droids... there are other areas of Malnossian technology that... can be studied here... Insight into how those work could bring insight into the technology that... powers or operates the droids."

The Battle Dome, for example. If it can simulate Shifting then there has to be a way that it functions.

out for awhile but will try to catch up when back <3

She answers Eggman as her way to answer everyone.

"The Malnosso reaction was mostly apathetic. There was resistance inside the facility, but there was no punishment after the mission. Experimentation resumed almost immediately; perhaps that was why it was inconsequential to them. It probably means the existence of another, or several sites."

Probably gonna sleep after this too..

"They don't value the loss of a single facility. More fool them."

Something the Spartan is bitterly familiar with. Succeeding on a single site, but unable to stop the many others where they are not at.

Besides, the Commandant had mentioned that this village was 'Region Six.' It would be putting all of their eggs in one basket if there was only one facility.

"There have to be." Otherwise, the mental manipulation could've come sooner. Hell, she would be a victim of that. But even losing a Warthog is a big cost in her world.

So much that could've been gathered out there... Her fingers grasp one of her sketches, detailing the alien insides of the droids.

"Were there machines like these? Was there data you could've stolen with a detachable drive?"
