Summary: The X-Men have decided to invite some of their buddies and pals (who all coincidentally have costumed alteregos) for some Turkey Day shenanigans.

Over the past week, the X-Men have invited a variety of their friends and contacts who they knew would celebrate Thanksgiving, but wouldn't have anyone to spend it with here in Luceti ~~because they're all jaded loners~~. They were all instructed to try and bring a dish with them, but it was no requirement. Nevertheless, all the traditional foods would be present, along with some delicious extras.

ooc: Characters can interact out at the table eating, over on the couches, in the one of the two spare bedrooms, or preparing food in the kitchen. Or maybe catching some cool air outside on the porch. Whatever your fancy is! Also, prose or action brackets are cool. Pick your poison.

"I'm glad, too. My family never really did anything like this back home." They were usually too busy with the whole thief thing, plus there was no way her mother (or anyone else, for that matter) would want to spend an entire day working in a kitchen.

"It's... nice to be a part of something, anyway. Besides, now I can actually meet everyone without some kind of experiment to mess things up."

Given what he knew of her past, he was pretty happy that she was able to show up and enjoy the holiday. So sliding his hand down, he takes hers and latches around it.

"I'm sure they'll be glad to meet you!" He's certainly talked about her enough. "Especially... yeah, without impending doom."

Melanie gently squeezes Kurt's hand once it finds her own. As far as holidays go, this is certainly one of the nicer ones she's experienced. She's not used to being around so many people at once (except for whenever her family robbed groups of people, but... well, that's something else), but it's still enjoyable.

"I hope so. Though you're right, the lack of doom will probably make things easier." Probably.

"Though, apparently for some people... Thanksgiving is a lot like impending doom." He jokes. Some of his friends at school would often talk about the holiday with dread, since it meant running into family they did not care much for.

That does earn a smirk from her - it's not hard to see where someone would be coming from in that sense.

"Good point. I guess it'd depend on who you're spending your time with."

"Exactly!" Still holding her hand, he leads her over to the couch to sit. "I've always celebrated it with the X-Men. It's not a thing back home. In, ah, Germany I mean." He clarifies quickly, since in Luceti 'back home' tends to refer to an entire world and not just where you lay your head down.

"Yeah, I know what you mean. Aside from the whole... you know-" The 'family business' taking up most of their time, she means.

"My mom's English, so she never really saw much point to the holiday, plus I don't think there's anyone in my family that would be willing to spend all day working in a kitchen." And... any holidays that may have been spent behind bars or by herself just won't be counted.

"Actually, this is probably the first time I've ever really celebrated it."

It really does make him appreciate his adopted parents. He missed them now more than ever. Even if it's not a holiday he'd celebrate with them, it's still one that makes him think of family. In any case, he couldn't see his real mother ever sitting down for some turkey.

"Well in that case, I'll just have to make sure this one is extra special, yeah?"

As far as holidays go, Melanie's just glad she actually gets to spend this one with somebody she really cares about. It's certainly a lot better than any time she could have spent with her family or by herself.

"This one's off to a good start, at least."

"Well that's because of all the hard work. Well... Rogue did it, but I made the cabbage rolls. They're great."

Except. They are the least popular dish this time around.

"I'll have to try one later." They've never really been her thing, but since Kurt worked hard to make them, then the least Melanie can do is give them a try at some point.

“Anyway, thanks again for inviting me. I really appreciate it.” She isn’t familiar with everyone here, but there’s still plenty of time for that. Besides, it’s a whole lot better to spend this time with somebody she cares about instead just spending the day by herself.

"I'm just glad you're here, yeah? You deserve to have something like that. And that goes for any other holidays. Christmas, New Years, and any other new ones they invented in the future." What he really wanted to was just have her involved. And make up for the things she missed out on while growing up.

Melanie can't help but smile a bit wider after hearing that comment - it's all very sweet, after all.

"I'd like that. Though I'm pretty sure we've still got the same holidays in my time - it's not like we've got a Batman Day or anything like that."

"What, really? There has to be a Superman Day at least!" If only he had known Superman better, he would've sought him out to invite here as well.

"Maybe in Metropolis they would, but we don't have anything like that in Gotham."

She shrugs, "Either way, I think the holidays we've got now are more than enough."

"Tell that to the greeting card companies."

She laughs, "Unfortunately we still have those in the future, too."

"Ah, so much for social progress then. Is there anything to look forward to?"

"We've got flying cars now." Well. Some of them fly, anyway.

"Aha! So Doc Brown was right! Do you have hoverboards too?"

She shrugs, "There are probably some kids out there that have got them stashed somewhere."

"Man. Somehow you've so got to get one of those here." Because, yes. Hoverboards are inherently cooler than teleporting.
