They call it Than-X-Giving here

Who: Ororo Munroe, Rogue, Kurt Wagner, Jubilation Lee, Remy LeBeau, Tony Stark, Steve Rogers, Bruce Banner, Dick Grayson Robin, and Melanie Walker
What: TURKEY DAY
When: Evening of the 24th
Where: House 16
Summary: The X-Men have decided to invite some of their buddies and pals (who all coincidentally have costumed alteregos) for some Turkey Day shenanigans.
Rating: H for HEARTWARMING

Over the past week, the X-Men have invited a variety of their friends and contacts who they knew would celebrate Thanksgiving, but wouldn't have anyone to spend it with here in Luceti because they're all jaded loners. They were all instructed to try and bring a dish with them, but it was no requirement. Nevertheless, all the traditional foods would be present, along with some delicious extras.

ooc: Characters can interact out at the table eating, over on the couches, in the one of the two spare bedrooms, or preparing food in the kitchen. Or maybe catching some cool air outside on the porch. Whatever your fancy is! Also, prose or action brackets are cool. Pick your poison.

Even if Kurt hadn't probably told her much, what Ororo'd learned from that little encounter they had during the last event was enough to clue her in some. Hey, she may have given up the life of a petty thief years and years ago, but it takes one to know one.

Not that she'll want to bring it up. It's a pleasant holiday dinner, Ororo has no intention of spoiling the (mostly) pleasant atmosphere with that kind of topic, unless Melanie wants to talk about it herself.

"That's a shame. One thing I've always liked about these Western holidays was that they always gave families reason to come together."

Like Storm, Melanie doesn't plan on bringing up her history until she gets harassed by Robin later tonight. It would just serve to make things uncomfortable, and that's really one of the last things she wants to do right now.

"My family didn't usually focus on the whole 'togetherness' thing very much." Unless it involved being together as the Royal Flush Gang, but once again, Melanie doesn't plan on going into that right now.

"But I think I prefer this."

Ah. From that and what Ororo's learned about Melanie so far, she can infer a bit about her home life. She should be surprised, and she is, but only a little.

So instead of prying further, she chuckles softly and looks around the room at the collection of peculiar characters gathered here tonight. "It's by no means a regular family, but it has its charm, you have to admit."

Yes, she did just claim everyone here as family.

It's definitely peculiar, but save for the addition of Robin, Melanie rather likes it.

"Well, I think regular would probably get boring after a while. Better to have some variety in the company you keep."

Her smile is fond and her voice, warm as she shakes her head. "It keeps life interesting, to say the least. I can't complain."

"It does." She rather likes it, honestly.

"I haven't found much to complain about, at least." And as far as Melanie is concerned, she likes it this way. She's certainly happier in Luceti than she was in Gotham.
