They call it Than-X-Giving here

Who: Ororo Munroe, Rogue, Kurt Wagner, Jubilation Lee, Remy LeBeau, Tony Stark, Steve Rogers, Bruce Banner, Dick Grayson Robin, and Melanie Walker
What: TURKEY DAY
When: Evening of the 24th
Where: House 16
Summary: The X-Men have decided to invite some of their buddies and pals (who all coincidentally have costumed alteregos) for some Turkey Day shenanigans.
Rating: H for HEARTWARMING

Over the past week, the X-Men have invited a variety of their friends and contacts who they knew would celebrate Thanksgiving, but wouldn't have anyone to spend it with here in Luceti because they're all jaded loners. They were all instructed to try and bring a dish with them, but it was no requirement. Nevertheless, all the traditional foods would be present, along with some delicious extras.

ooc: Characters can interact out at the table eating, over on the couches, in the one of the two spare bedrooms, or preparing food in the kitchen. Or maybe catching some cool air outside on the porch. Whatever your fancy is! Also, prose or action brackets are cool. Pick your poison.

Well if it isn't the one on Magneto's payroll. The one who had no problem pinpointing him as "sidekick" when he was stalking reviewing some journal transmissions. If there's one thing that's clear about Gambit through conversations with others, it's that the cajun is on Team Bad Guy. So sometime after he's finished interrogating Melanie, he switches gears and approaches the guy on a smoke break instead.

"Not too cold out here for you, is it?"
kineticcajun: (That de best you've got?)

Used to be on Magneto's payroll. But that doesn't change the fact too much that he's still on Team Bad Guy. The whole New Orleans incident was all after Magneto's influence, after all.

Red eyes flick over to Robin with idle curiosity. Gambit takes his sweet time in answering, taking another drag on the cigarette before speaking up. Why is he getting this feeling that he's in for an onslaught of questions? Must be the look in the kid's eye.

"S'what the coat's for, mon ami." That, and stashing things. But mainly warmth. "Ain't too bad out here."

Questions? Maybe. But threats are more probable. Robin drops the weather talk as quickly as he started it, barreling straight into the issue.

"So what's your angle tonight? Reconnaissance?"
kineticcajun: (Ain't dat somethin'.)

Doesn't waste any time, does he? It's almost refreshing. Normally people try to play it close to the vest around him.

Gambit gives a shrug, assuming an innocent air. It's not too terribly difficult because this is the honest truth. "Angle? I'm here 'cause Jubilee asked me. You seem like de one here for recon, homme."

"It's in my interests to make sure my friends are safe." Robin could be more subtle if he really wanted to be. But he's much too busy moralizing to stop for politeness. "From what I understand, you could potentially get in the way of their safety. I'd have a problem with that."
kineticcajun: (Yep. Gonna punch Lance inna face.)

Going from picking a fake fight earlier with Tony Stark to the Boy Wonder seeming to want to pick a real one all in the same night. He hasn't has this kind of record since Pyro and Sabretooth. The mildly amused air still stays in place, but he slides his unoccupied hand into his pocket. He's not about to throw anything just yet, but if Robin wants a fight...

There's another long draw on the cigarette before he answers.

"That so? Funny, I ain't gettin' in the way of anythin'." There's no reason to. At least for now. It's not like anybody can offer any payment to budge him here. "Seems t'me you're worryin' yourself over nothin'."

[identity profile] titango.livejournal.com 2011-11-27 06:45 am (UTC)(link)
Robin watches that hand, half-expecting a fireball to come hurtling out of Gambit's pocket in retaliation. It's not that he's set out to pick a fight, but he's fully prepared for one to select itself on his behalf. He's not quite threatened enough to throw the first punch, but things can always change.

"Maybe. But maybe I'm not. So I'll ask you again: what's motivating you?" The 'invitation' excuse seemed too convenient to be anywhere close to the whole truth.
kineticcajun: (Heart of the cards mon ami.)

[personal profile] kineticcajun 2011-11-27 07:15 am (UTC)(link)
"Tol' you already. Jubilee asked, so I'm here." There is absolutely no need to throw in that he doesn't mind any opportunity to come by and ruffle Rogue's feathers. It's a motivation he's not about to share with anyone else.

His cigarette is pretty much finished at this point. Rather than snub it out under a heel, he charges the cigarette butt up just enough for it to catch flame, then drops it just before it reaches his fingertips, letting the ashes blow away with the wind. It's not really meant as a threat, but he figures if it's taken that way, that's fine by him.

"Do I need a better reason than comin' by 'cause someone asked?"

[identity profile] titango.livejournal.com 2011-11-29 02:47 am (UTC)(link)
Well to be fair, ruffling Rogue's feathers might as well be an official Luceti sport.

Robin's eyes narrow at the semi-exploded cigarette. Oh, he understood that as a threat, all right. He's also pretty sure the X-team wouldn't enjoy having their house blown up, even if it did regenerate afterwards. Dilemmas.

"Not at all. But I suspect you have an ulterior motive anyway."
kineticcajun: (That boy ain't right.)

[personal profile] kineticcajun 2011-11-29 03:18 am (UTC)(link)
Robin is pretty quickly grating on Gambit's nerves with the questioning. It's one thing to be questioned when you're actually out to cause trouble. It's entirely another when you have no ulterior motive aside from maybe getting seconds on pie. For once in his life, he's actually not up to anything, and that's just making it all rankle even more.

And yet somehow, it doesn't surprise him at all.

He's already answered about the ulterior motive, so Gambit just goes for a different approach and ignores the accusation. "Are you always a bundle'a fun like this durin' holiday get-togethers, or did someone put you up to this?"

[identity profile] titango.livejournal.com 2011-11-29 03:22 am (UTC)(link)
And if Gambit was planning to steal that second helping, Robin would be all over him. Veritably like white on rice, though perhaps less ethnic.

"I'm a regular party animal." Really. It's hiding under all the linefacing and huge pile of mistrust.
kineticcajun: (That de best you've got?)

[personal profile] kineticcajun 2011-11-29 03:35 am (UTC)(link)
"Yeah, I can see that." See, Gambit can do the sarcasm thing too. "You could use a party hat, though. Might help your case."

If Robin is expecting any useful information, it's not coming.
