DRAFT LOG #1: Preparations

Summary: The Draftees receive a brief moment of Malnosso hospitality before being sent off to fight.
Rating: Look, it's only three hours long. So do you really need to have any hanky panky? Now? Let's keep this appropriate for once, gawd.

As usual, this post is for characters to mingle and touch base before the draft starts. Details on their temporary accommodations are outlined here. Please note that characters will NOT return here once they arrive in the mines. This is just a place for them to gather supplies and get some extra rest beforehand.

[Melaka is filled with a lot of feelings of uncertainty as soon as she gets to her room. She's carrying a lot of weapons on her already (not the scythe, but whatever) and is ready to go already but... here. This must be what the Uppers feel like. The whiteness, the comfyness, generally just looking pristine and serene.

It actually makes her feel out of place and uncomfortable. Still, she'll take this moment to request some painkillers for whatever is left agitating her wing (the left one is now sporting a simple silver clip which mercifully has not rejected her yet or anything but she also lost a number of feathers a week or so ago) and generally just... trying to figure out what to do with herself.

[Rogue passes Mel's room on the way back from the hanger. So she knocks.]

[So far? This isn't so bad. The room is pretty comfy and Fuuko can't deny that it's a nice place to stay, if only for a little while. The gravity of the situation is starting to set in, kind of like the opening night of a play. You feel more-or-less alright leading up to the event, but by the time the audience is settled and you're moments away from starting, that's when the fear, nervousness and all the other emotions set in.

To help ease her mind, if only a little, Fuuko asks for a few blocks of wood and a craft knife and sets about carving out a few more starfish. Of course she brought one with her, but a few more would never hurt right? Right. She's a little on edge right now but maybe a little conversation would help.]

[Knock knock, Fuuko! Sheena has a feeling her starfish friend isn't much of a fighter.]

[The way Leon has to approach the tunnel is a lot different than most things back at home. He feels indifferent about it though. Impatience has the most emphasis in his mind right now. He just want to get things over with.

He was led by arrows just like everyone else. As he stepped on the silver platform labeled "H.47", he felt a certain amount of heat on the back of his neck and he suddenly found himself in front of a white door.

He had to admit, that was a little surprising, but his profile speaks different.

Opening the door, he saw a white hallway. In the hallway were doors on each side; names labeled on each one. He knew by now, one of the doors should have his name. The doors being in alphabetical order, it took about 30-40 doors to find his own.]

[When he did find his own though... Opening the door, he couldn't believe the decorations and style of the room. The atmosphere was just like home. In the simplest detail, the room looks like it's for a rich kid. There were gold lacing and elegant details on almost every furniture.]

[Frey, when he arrives, Is dressed rather nicely for battle, but surprisingly enough this is his armor, between the layers of cloth and leather involved.

He'll be checking in on his friends and teammates, making preparations and requesting some rune scrolls as well as medicine and being sure to drop in on Gold, Silver, and the rest of his housemates especially.]

[Rydia will either be in her room or Kain in hers. Either way, she never sees the point of having a separate one on these things. She requests some extra restoratives and the like before they have to go, though is otherwise as prepared as she can possibly be.

At some point, she'll wander and check in on friends and family. Might as well put that restlessness to good use, right? Whether they intend to fight alongside her or not isn't important, though she'll hope they'll at least be with someone.]

[Of course, Kain makes sure to go right away to settle in to the room Rydia's in. He seems confident as ever, showing no sign that he's at all bothered by the setting they're going into. They've gone through caves and fought back home after all.]

[The first thing Cecil did upon finding his room was to sit down and take a deep breath. The second thing he did was to request every single battle item he could think of, including the more useless ones. He's now in the middle of action number three, counting and ordering them. Considering the quantity he obtained, that should take a while.

Visit him, if you wish. You'll probably leave his room with a few gifts.]

[Kain stops by, of course, figuring he should see what Cecil's up to as he prepares.]

[Raine is handling her pre-draft arrangements the way she usually does: putting together the small assorted first aid kits for each person, and then likely assisting with the additional call for supplies once she finishes with that.

The kits are small, containing medicinal items, gels, elixers, bandages, and other quick and easy first aid supplies just in case the fighters find themselves worn out and not in the presence of someone who can immediately tend to them. For those people who aren't familiar with them, she's also taking the step to stick in a note of what each item does specifically, just in case. At least she took care of that part before they actually left, given the limited time they have to work with here.

She'll check up on others if she can, but for now, this is her priority -- and making sure that they get delivered to all of the rooms, of course, though others are welcome to assist with that aspect.]

[Helping Raine hand these things out sounds like a great plan. And it'll keep Sheena's mind off of anything else that might take it up right now.]

[She should probably request a weapon or something. Find somebody to stick to or what she'd need to do. Maybe even see if there were others she knew here. But she's currently terrified. Talking to Luke and Giles had helped some, but she just... she still didn't feel ready. At all. She wished the others were here so much...

She's just terrified right now, and dealing with it by picking a room and sulking in it, Thylos curled up next to her.]

[Eventually there will be a knock on her door, as Raine continues to hand out her first aid and healing supply kits. She should at least be known to Lindsay as one of her teachers.]

[Once Leonhardt arrives to the dorms he goes ahead to the room assigned to him and will leave the door open just a crack. To him that is saying someone can come in, but please knock first.

He'll go ahead and request some things he couldn't find in the village. A few extra quartz for his orbment, some tools to go ahead and give it a quick tune up that he didn't have on him previously and a fair stock of healing items, especially EP charges since he has a feeling that is likely what he'll need the most of. Though he will also request a few particular dishes that are good on the field and provide added benefits. Not that he needs them, but every edge can only help.

Feel free to come and bother him. He seems perfectly calm and ready for this, like it is perfectly normal for him to do something like this.]

[It probably won't come as much of a surprise that at around 11AM, someone can be heard knocking on the door to Leonhardt's room. Slightly open or not, Joshua isn't about to just enter uninvited. Not today, anyway.

...He actually feels a bit awkward about stopping by, considering how their last conversation went, but given the circumstances... it just seems like something he ought to do.]

[He doesn't stay in his room long. With only three hours to prepare and a mind made active from restlessness, Sanji would rather not get too comfortable in the brief and artificial hospitality provided by the Malnosso shitheads. He'll seek out Nami, Ace, and Sayo, first and foremost - Vash too, if he gets the chance - and after that will check up on acquaintances before he makes his requests.

By the time thirty minutes are left, he's as prepared as he's going to be: a backpack filled with provisions, one of Raine's medical kits, and little odds and ends.

He just hopes that's enough.]

[Yup. So here's Rogue. In her X-Men Uniform. Toting a Big Damn Duffle Bag of Guns. She's on her way back from the hanger, decision made. She just needs to drop of the guns she's not going to use and get refills of energy cells and other ammunition on the three she'll be bringing.

Narrow hallway, this. Passing through when two people are going in different directions may get awkward.]

[Rogue has a couple of stops to go on this thing. First to her room, where she will request the necessary supplies for survival and whatever handy other little gizmos she can think of that the Malnosso can make that she can fit into the metal-free utility belt she's making a part of her X-Uniform.

And then she is going to be requesting a lot of Big Damn Guns. She is not exactly sure which kind will be best - she's going to take the best handgun she knows, of course, but for her main assault weapon? She's thinking something lightning-or-energy based, because bullets would make an impact against the wall, but maybe lightning would disburse better?

Anyway, she's heard this place has a shooting range of sorts, so she's going to go try to check that out. If not, there's a hanger. She'll just go shoot at the wall down there with her various guns and examine the damage to it and gauge her effectiveness with the Big Damn Duffle Bag of Guns.

If all goes according to schedule, then after that she'll swing by the rooms of those she knows (except, probably, Gambit). Feel free to bump into her anywhere!]

[ There seems to be something pokerfaced about Ange no matter the situation - and the same still holds up, even today. So while she's walking down a hallway with that same expression as ever, she happens to spot Rogue and.. well, she recognizes her, so for a moment she stops. ]

... Hey. [ somewhat casual. ] We talked a few times before, right?

[As whichever visitor or innocent bystander approaches Totori's room, the door suddenly blasts open in a cloud of sparkling dust and multicoloured smoke. Totori's requested her cauldron and ingredients and is hard at work making medicine and bombs.]

[Rydia takes a steps back, grateful that she hadn't quite reached the door when that happened.]

[Pao-lin is rather surprised at how nice the accommodations here are. Temporary, admittedly, but it's the nicest temporary place she's ever stayed in. Not that she's had much occasion to do such a thing.

But as temptingly comfortable as that bed looks, the first thing she does when she gets into her room is to instead slide into some simple tai chi forms to get rid of the shakes that began to afflict her body as she was being led to the transporter. She's done routines like this multiple times before, in varying degrees of length and technique, before setting off on Hero work, so it isn't long before she feels the familiar focus set into place. Even if this situation is probably grimmer than what she's ever faced as a Hero...but let's not think about that right now.

The next thing Pao-lin does is hit up the item generator for some extra supplies. She's already got a few extra changes of clothes (all of which are in surprisingly gloomy shades for her, like black, dark grey, and dark brown -- she might not care about style but she knows about practicality) and some basic supplies (medical, food) from the shops back in the village, but when she asks for her Hero staff and it gives it to her, she decides that she really should bulk up her arsenal as well. Among her weapons are a pair of brass knuckles, a pair of butterfly swords, and two pairs of nunchaku. (Go ahead and look really surprised at that last one.) She feels more comfortable with her Hero staff, but considering what was discussed at the strategy meeting the day before, Pao-lin figures she'd better have some armed options for close-range combat, especially if she can't use her powers for whatever reason. She also requests some energy bars and sports drinks of the exact kind she used to have back home, as a small measure of comfort.

Once she repacks her backpack and cargo pants pockets with her latest doodads, Pao-lin wanders out into the hallway. The nerves are beginning to creep up on her again, but hopefully walking or finding a familiar face to talk to will keep them at bay.]

Looks like you're prepared.

[He's not unused to seeing such a variety of weapons - at least not back at home. There's people like Tenten who pack everything plus a kitchen sink. They usually have a scroll or two for them, though.]

You gonna be able to move with all that when we get down there?

[Instead of going straight to her assigned room, Naoto decides to take a look around the entire building. It's in her nature to be constantly curious, especially since in about three hours they're going to be sent out to fight and she's not sure if she'll have the energy to do this later.

But after wandering around for a while, she'll finally make it to her room and just sit down on the bed. In a way she wants to read, but instead, she just decides to request a few things (like plenty of bullets) and load up her revolver. She would eat but... her stomach is kinda doing flips so that's making it impossible for her to.

You're free to stop by, but make sure to knock, she's doesn't need any surprises right now]

[Yuan will indeed knock first. He's not one to barge into people's rooms uninvited, and he doesn't even know for certain whether Naoto is there. she could just as well be out visiting someone else.

As much as he'd like to believe she'll be all right, he has no clue how accustomed she is to fighting. The Malnosso do have a tendency to include several non-combatants in every draft. She may be a detective, but that doesn't say anything about her combat skills.]

[These are familiar surroundings. To be underground, only artificial light to light the way in the mines. It's like being home again. In the days before they left, he had prepared, including making sure his katana are as sharp as they can be. Going over battle plans in his head. When Leo first arrives he doesn't go straight to his room.Instead he scouts out the dorms, noting where the rooms of people he knows are. If the door to the room is cracked, he'll knock to check in on them. He'll also pick up any supplies that are being handed out, like a first aid kit.

Eventually though he will head to his own room. He'll leave the door cracked, and asks for some hot tea and a backpack to his supplies in, along with some bandages. Not for medical use, but rather to help protect his wings since he doesn't have clothes to protect them. While the rooms aren't that cold, he wants to get what warmth he can. Even so, he needs to be careful and not eat too much right now.

[For all the gear and weapons he's carrying, Shikamaru is packed and ready to go surprisingly fast. It's routine, after all.

Since he doesn't have need for his room once that's taken care of, he can only be caught there early on. Afterwards he'll be making rounds up and down the halls, making himself available and tracking down anyone he might need to talk to.

He also has some radios he'll be handing out. People have requested them before on other drafts and they've been useful before - if not for communication, then occasionally as a sign that there's a Shifter around. There's one to share among people working in groups on offense, like him, as well as medics and anyone acting as scouts, if they want them. Caesar will get a few too to hand out, if he can track him down. If not, he'll give them to someone on defense willing to pass them on.]

[Knock, knock. Rogue has finished her assessment of the various weaponry. She is now wearing a shoulder holster with an extremely reliable Stark handgun, but she's left her other two guns back in the room with her bags. Other than that, she's in her X-Men uniform, a yellow sort of utility belt slung at a practical distance around her waist - this is no fashion accessory. The boots mean business too.]

I hear you're the man ta see about everyone gettin' the same radios?

[Vivi wakes in an unfamiliar room--not her room at the Strawhat house, but it's not the cell she's been held in the past few weeks either, and definitely not her bedroom back home in Alabasta. She sits up from where she's lying atop a crisply-made bed and blinks, trying to get her bearings. The muzzy, drugged feeling she's become accustomed to during her captivity seems to have nearly faded, which is a relief, but she's still disoriented and confused. ]

[She stands, legs feelings a little wobbly, and notes she's again wearing that simple white dress like the one she arrived to Luceti in. Does that mean her kidnapping has ended? But where is she? Or is this part of some other experiment?]

[Vivi notices the door and heads straight for it, holding her breath as she reaches for the knob and twists. It's a relief, then, that it opens easily, not locked as she was afraid it might be. She steps out into the hall, confusion plain on her face, her steps still a little shaky.]

[Sanji's reward for not paying attention is nearly colliding into the woman who steps out of her room. Though he stops up short just in time, recognition is slow to dawn on him. And who can blame him? It's not as if he expects to see Vivi on the draft.]

Shi-- My apologies, Miss! [But it doesn't take long. His apologetic smile grows wooden when he computes the blue hair and familiar face, and then drops all-together into shock]

[Eggman will spend a lot of his time in his room, where he can be disturbed if you want to bother Eggman for any reason before the battle begins. He'll be requesting a couple of laser pistols, as designed by himself for his pawns back home, as well as a box of tools. He'll also be tweaking his mecha in the garage area for some time.

Otherwise, if you want to bump into Eggman, he'll be found wandering about the place for no good reason at any time you deem convenient! He'll probably be sporting a belt with his weapons and a few tools in, too.]

[Kotetsu spends the first short amount of time yanking on an annoying body suit in his room, but once he can finally get the damn thing on, he spends the rest of it messing with their weird teleporting thing. He'll never wrap his brain around how he can order something and it's just. There.

By the time the first hour passes and he feels anxious, he goes into the halls and sees if he can spot any familiar folk; he did try to memorize some, too, but hell. He's no good with names and faces.

The last hour he'll be tugging on the parts of his power suit, probably making a similar enough face. He really doesn't wanna do this, but... if he doesn't have any choice, he'll go in with fists ready. Feel free to bump into him anytime, especially if you're one of the one's he's prooobably looking for.]

[Wow. And Kurt thought his suit was fancy. Kottie here has one that goes all out. Insert some impressed whistling from the hall.]

[After two previous draftings, Gold didn't waste much time being where he needed to be. Having those damn droids come looking for him was such a pain in the ass.

Inside the quarters Gold is given, he takes the time to stock up on some healing items for his Pokémon. Revives, Hyper Potions, Full Heals... Whatever he might need. He's not stupid enough to run into battle unprepared. ...For his Pokémon. Having means to take care of himself is another matter entirely.

Of course, Gold made sure to look out for himself! He ordered himself a nice big platter of Volcano Burgers! It seems the draft is the only way he can obtain them right now. The scent of them is drifting out of his room and into the hallway.]

[Sayo's packing up her things. She's got a rather large back, which she's already carefully loaded with plenty of supplies and materials; the top of it being a first aid kit. She's admittedly forgotten a lot of things Ami had shown her, but... she remembers how to suture, now. And how to handle bleeding and wrapping.

She can definitely do this.

Her clothes aren't the usual kimono, and won't be for the draft; they're just civilian clothes you'd find on the street. A shirt, some pants, some normal shoes. She can't afford to go in her kimono, because it's too hard to maneuver in it. She knows she can be a little klutzy. This'll help.

She spends the last few hours re-reading everything over and over. She's at least managed to acquire one thing from the malnosso: a simple, sheathed knife. Sharp, sitting at her side in its case. She prays there's no reason to even try to use it, but it's better than walking in with nothing...]

[And of course she'll have a knock from Raine as well -- just to make sure everything's all right and that the notes she gave to her were sufficient enough to help. And bringing one of her supply kits, with everything inside carefully labeled.]

[Ling has but one task here in his room. Besides ordering all kinds of bombs (of the non explosive nature), he's got a never ending stream of food service coming. And he his PACKING IT ALL AWAY. He will probably spend all three hours doing this.]

[Jacqli is entirely suspicious of the room and its arrangements when she first walks in there, but once she's tested it out by ordering some medicinal teas she's created back home, she's relaxed her suspicions. ... A bit. Maybe.

For now, she has her door wide open and is sitting near it, the various teas (complete in teacups), liquid grathnode crystals, and various generic-looking healing items she ordered scattered around the floor of her room. Three hours is plenty of time to take a bath using the grathnode crystals, but she's not sure if she trusts this place enough to do that. Heck, she's only got her door so open because of that lack of trust.

It may be decently obvious to anyone passing by that she's probably a little ... on edge. Maybe someone should tell her to relax a little? ... Or at least tell her of the wonders of a thermos for all the tea she's got lying around?]

[Gambit doesn't have too much to attend to in the way of preparations. He stocked up on cards before leaving Luceti - the Item Shop may be running a little low now - and he's armed with a few extra oddities for charging in tight corners. (Chewing gum totally counts as a weapon.) Between the cards and his bo staff, though, he's pretty much set.

So his main idea before the battle is wandering around and getting a good idea of who is here, trying to scope out what they're all capable of. He's not spending much time in the room provided for him, but he will eventually head back there. Restless card shuffling is what this room was meant for, clearly.]

[As always, Kain is busy preparing rather than getting any sort of rest. He gets any items he needs right away. Then he mostly spends the time either with Rydia, or pacing around restlessly.]
