Yeah, I kinda do that already with ramen -- I add things like cabbage and corn to it after I make the packaged stuff.

[She glances over to another part of the kitchen, where she notices a couple of trays of food waiting.]

Ah, guess we'd better get back to work, huh?

[Pao-Lin gathers up the spoons and forks and knives and piles them on top of her stack of dirty dishes.]

Okay, Grune, I'm going to take these to the kitchen! [She giggles.] I expect that table to be spotless when I get back!

Though of course, anything said and done now is just theatrics. That was terribly cute, if a little strange.]

Somewhat. I've met a lot of people and talked to a lot of them, and I've gotten their names and we have shared interests... and I'm in the Book Club and I know people at school and... Somewhat, really.

[There are so many answers he could give to that. There is so much to say. So much he's feeling that he wants to express to her. His outstretched hand aches for the broken contact with her, but she hasn't turned, and it falls slowly, soundlessly, to his side.

If he is going to answer that question, he is going to look into her eyes when he does so. Because he needs her to see, right then, the honesty, the love--the life in his eyes.
