Who: Sanji, Nami, Zoro, and probably the rest of the SH crew at some point.
What: Mallynaps Suck
When: February 2nd, probably some time in the evening.
Where: The foot of the mountains. House 6 later.
Summary: Nami and Sanji are kinda chibified. And stranded in the mountains. Luckily, a certain swordsman with a wonderful sense of direction is there to take them home. >_>
Rating: PG-13 if you include Sanji's mouth. ~~He started early.~~

[Knowing the cold will go away is a good thing, but Nami looks up curiously at the second part.] Really? How hot is it where you come from?

[Vivi takes out the tin of cocoa and leaves it on the counter near the mugs, along with two spoons. She goes to join Nami at the table, sitting across from her before answering.]

I'm from Alabasta Kingdom--it's a desert island on the Grand Line. It's a summer island, so it's always warm, even in the winter, and during summer... [She pauses dramatically.] During the summer, it's not safe to go out during mid-day for very long. The temperatures can reach 130°F, sometimes. [Vivi laughs and shakes her head.] It's not usually quite that hot, though. That's an extreme.

[...oh wow. Nami gapes at those temperatures. 130 would just shrivel people right up, as far as she's concerned.] How do you live in weather like that? Are you close to the ocean?

Just on the coasts. Sandy Island is very large, but there's the mighty Sandora River running through the center of it, and most of the cities are built around oases. [She smiles fondly; talking about home always makes her feel nostalgic.]

It's not always an easy place to live, but the people are strong and resourceful.

I bet. [She's deep in thought.] Can you grow fruit there?

[Vivi nods.] Dates, figs, olives, grapes...

[She ticks off on her fingers as she lists some of the more common fruit crops.] And cacti bear fruit, too. But near an oasis, you can grow almost anything if it's carefully cared for. [She grins.] Even mikan.

Mikan! [She beams.] I think I like tropical weather better, but I can still visit when I'm older, can't I?

Of course! [And you will.]

You can wear silks and ride a camel and visit some of the towns, and even take a nice soak in the Royal Baths. [We'll just...leave out all the more unpleasant details like fighting to stop a war and nearly being drowned and eaten by a hungry bananadile.]

[Leaving that out is probably wise, yes. >> But Nami's smile grows wider as Vivi lists all these things off, until she breaks into a small giggle at the mention of the baths.] Would we be allowed? Maybe we should sneak in.

[...oh, right. Of course Nami won't know about Vivi's lineage yet.]

We won't need to sneak in. My father is the king.

No, he's still back in Alabasta.

It's all right, Nami-san. I'll see him again when I go home, and until then, I get to be here with my friends.

Oh, okay. [And she smiles a little.]

My sister Nojiko's at home, too. Her hair is kind of like yours. [Just lighter.]

[She's heard about Nojiko, and seen her in the picture Nami kept.] One day you'll have to introduce me to her, all right?

Mm! [Back to full wattage!] She'd like you. I'll bring her to say hello and ride on the camels! Can Bellemere-san come?

[For an instant, a troubled expression flickers across her face, and then it's as if she never stopped smiling.]

I certainly don't mind, but I suppose it's up to Bellemere-san.

Bellemere-san will come. [UTTERLY CONFIDENT. ...and then her face falls.] Oh. But then nobody would be left to look after the orchard.

[Vivi's somewhat at a loss for what to say. She knows that Bellemere died when Nami was young, but of course she won't make any mention of that.]

[Then, as if by divine timing, the kettle begins to whistle. Saved by the bell, as it were. Vivi gets up to take it from the burner.] Almost ready! [She turns off the stove and spoons the cocoa mix from the tin into their mugs, then pours in the steaming water and stirs.]

Be careful; it's very hot. [She carefully places the mug in front of Nami.] In fact, you may want to let it cool a little first.

[Divine providence indeed. All thoughts of Bellemere and orchards vanish as she leans forward to inhale that delicious chocolatey smell, and despite Vivi's warning she goes to pick the mug up-- and then lets go the second she touches it because boo. 8( Far too hot.]

Thank you, Vivi! [Blowing on her mug. Cool faster. >E ...oh. She peers up.] Am I allowed to call you Vivi?

[Vivi nods, looking a little puzzled.] Of course you are.

[She takes a careful sip of her own cocoa, wishing she'd remembered to take the kettle of the burner a little sooner, especially as she watches Nami blow on her mug impatiently. That reminds her of something else, though.] Oh! Would you like to have a slice of cake while you wait for that to cool?

[She gets up before Nami can reply, already crossing to the refrigerator to fetch some of that cake. Maybe that much sugar this late is pushing it, but what Bellemere doesn't know won't hurt her. >.> Besides, sue her, Vivi wants to share some cake with her BFF while it's still her birthday.]

[She wasn't sure if she had to say your highness!]

Cake? I'd love some! {Screw Bellemere, there is cake on the line. B||] What kind?

[Just what she wanted to hear!]

[Vivi take it from the refrigerator and angles the tray down so Nami can see the cake, mostly still intact save for the slices Sanji and Vivi ate earlier.]

It's called a princess torte. Sanji-san made it!

[It looks delicious. *_*]

Sanji made it? He's really good!

[AWESOME. He owes her a meal. She'll make sure to collect.]
